Del Toro’s Pinocchio was beautiful. I was skeptical about it at first after watching the trailer but I was left heartbroken by the end. Well done sir. Amazing film.

"It's a miracle that Del Toro was able to get access to the wooden boy at all" Not really, the story has been public domain in the US since 1940. Disney may have a hold on the songs and the character designs in their movie, but Pinocchio is fair game for anyone to use.

Del Toro Pinocchio is a bit more realistic with people's reactions to Pinocchio, timeline and consistencies. It's really beautiful to look at.
@Diree2 жыл бұрын
You think? People basically accept that a magical, wooden, immortal doll walks among them, after screaming bloody murder to immediately burn it. Their reactions are, everything considered, pretty abnormal and tame. A bit more realistic, alright. But far from realistic.
@isoknight07282 жыл бұрын
@@Diree There's a thing called "getting used to it", and there are chances where it happens quite quickly. Geppetto also told the Podesta and the priest that the puppet wouldn't cause any harm to the town or the people in it, and the Podesta and priest probably told that to everyone else in the town.

You realize that the *_original_* Pinocchio was a BOOK, not a Disney movie, right?
@1greninjawolfbossdeath6482 жыл бұрын
Which is even stranger because they mention the author of the book. Tbf the title makes it clear when they are saying "Original Pinocchio" they are talking about the "Disney original Pinocchio". They just don't want to have to add an extra word everytime.

Nobody has ever read the book, I doubt even Collodi at this point. Sarcasm aside, for my knowledge, no adaptation in existence is even close to the original story. Which is not a bad thing per sé, It depends on the rethink. Del Toro's one is pretty unique and interesting, and that is what matters in my opinion

A micraclçe Del Toro got permission to make a Pinochio movie? WHAT? Pinochio, as most of the things Disney does, is on PUBLIC DOMAIN, and can be used freely by ANYONE. You just can't copy the things Disney did that are different from the original story, like music and clothes - in the original he did not wear any clothes, as in this new version). C''mon, please do not spreak lies like Disneys owns Pinochio! Pay respect to Carlo Collodi.
@WillScarlet16 Жыл бұрын
Del Toro's version has more in common with the 1940 one than people realize - they both make the same ideological break with the novel. In Collodi's book Pinocchio is treated as inherently evil from the time he's created, and the other characters are constantly chastising him for his evil nature, and even when he's clearly being manipulated by evil adults, Collodi always heaps more judgment on him. Disney and Del Toro both have a more balanced understanding of children - Pinocchio is not "bad" but inexperienced, and both of those movie versions make it plain that the adults exploiting him are more guilty than he is, something that never seemed to occur to Collodi.

You just gonna pretend that Disney didn't release a Pinocchio movie this year too and compare the De Toro one to the one that's older than everyone watching this........🤨
@Chris_Chin892 жыл бұрын
I’m pretty sure the story of Pinocchio is public domain work and can be adapted by anyone. You cannot adapt the Disney Version of Pinocchio which is Disney owned, and that includes “When You Wish Upon a Star” which is a Disney composition/property.

It kind if drove me up the wall, during Disney's remake of Pinocchio, when they decided not to do the school scene and just kicks Pinocchio out the of school without him learning how not to lie, when he says he a real boy. That was like a big part of Pinocchio. The fact that his nose grows when he lies was a large part of the movie. Then there is the ending I won't spoil it for those who haven't seen it. But I wasn't happy with the ending.

But... WHY!? Why compare it to the DISNEY version? (OK, it HAS some similarities with it, agree), but why not with the original novel? Wouldn't that make more sense? The style is the same as Collodi's with just some of Disney's plot points. I don't think Disney did a speech about the joy of life, compared with Collodi's complex about Pinocchio wanting to grow up.
