The ls1 (5.7) is only good for 5-7lbs stock. A 5.3 gen3 stock is good for 10-15lbs on pump.Rough safe pump gas rwhp numbers for the stock ls1 staying reliable is at or under 550rwhp the gen3 5.3 stock is good for around 700rwhp.Even after complete supporting mods 30psi on the 4bolt heads will probably be pushing water imo.

The complete lack of blowby, oil consumption, or any other indicator of worn rings on my 250k mile lq4 makes me think they're still in spec. You'd be surprised how tight a 200k mile LS can be, as I've been inside several and they needed to be opened up for boost well past 200k.

Mount the turbo on the front of the intake manifold so no lag and then reverse and run the exhaust up in front of the accessories to the turbo then the exhaust side of the turbo should in the perfect position to run the down pipe next to the intake manifold and shoot out the hood. Puts more weight on the front wheels and keeps your vision a little more clear.

@@alexstromberg7696 if you look at the old manifold on Leeroy the turbo would fit perfectly right in front of that giant wastegate where the Y comes together on the twin turbo setup. And the turbos intake turbine would be pointing towards the front of the car. It's like a exhaust powered blower at that point. Also there would be less bends in the reversed headers/exhaust and less bends in the 3cm (instead of 30cm) of intake piping for less turbulence. Essentially little gains here and there but combined..could be impressive.

Not worth it. The engine wont be able to handle the turbo power. Only time you want to add a blower is when the turbo cant make the power needed not really an issue any more. Plus there is to much heat generated in a twin setup so its really only gonna do more harm then good.

The stock LS6 cam actually makes good power on a 5.3 NA or turbo. For turbo applications you can fine tune it during the degree stage and dial it in perfectly, so for the spirit of a budget build an LS6 cam would have done just fine. Another recommended part I want to mention, although not cheap, are the Comp oil-less turbos-specifically the CT5X line. They spool fast, make great power, and install super clean without having to use any oil lines.

Parts he had collecting dust isnt that bad. He didnt go out and buy them all brand new like he couldve.. you could probably buy a lot of them used for a relatively decent price if you found it so eh. I doubt anyone is out there looking to do a budget c6 Corvette with a truck engine in it 🤔
