Agreed but that game wasn’t reffed correctly. That scrum should’ve ended with even penalties to both sides except the oilers get a 2-man advantage. They lost control over the game after that and tried to regain control by giving more dumb penalties. Just terrible and soft refs overall

Kings are not in the same weight class to be doing this, Oilers have Kane, Perry, Nurse and Desharnais, all 4 don't mind throwing a few, and Desharnais who by the way had two Kings in head locks at the same time. If the Kings don't play hockey and stop getting penalties they may as well dust off the clubs.

As someone who grew up playing hockey, that type of hit can easily be avoided- you hit the BODY of the player, not clip their head. Even if Englund stayed low, the head was his target. Much respect to Kane for getting up to take care of his own business, too bad there was no one else to do it for him.

Actually, the Refs didn't lose control. The Kings decided that they would rather rough up the Oilers than try to get back in the game, and the scrum pretty much ended any hope of a comeback that game. I'm glad that the Oilers didn't take the bait and got the PP goal when the Refs gave LA their well-deserved instigation penalties. Let's have another 2 games like this. 6-1, LOL.

With the slow-mo, it looks like he just breezed by Kane's head and got him on the front of the left shoulder. If Kane was smoked in the head, I doubt he'd have been able to get up and fight. Very close to a headshot tho. Looked like it in real-time.

Everyone involved got a roughing or fighting penalty that was even. Kopitar got an extra 2 for unsportsmanlike for something he said to the ref, and Englund was initially given a 5 for the hit, but after review, he got 2, which was the other extra one.

The rule was changed a few years ago to principle (main) contact, not initial or resulting contact. It's only a suspension if the head took the majority of impact, which was not the case here
