I've been thinking about replacing the ones on my Challenger SRT8, even though they do have pretty decent headers on them from the factory. But we always want more, and have been checking into some recently for it. Kooks look really good as well as American racing, and are the two best from what I'm gathering. It's already got really good pipes on it, and is made up of 3" stainless with open chamber racing bullets and flow so much better than the stock ones did

1980 my best friend and I got our drivers license the 1st thing he did was put a 650 Holly carb on his 350 CHEVELL it ran like crap , I told him the carb was too big , he sead Bullshit ! So I took the 2barel carb off my Vega. And baceplate adaptor and we burnd rubber all day long. Until he got city ordnance Ticket😃😭

Also as far as stock manifolds go, I've heard that the Cobra pipes actually flow fairly well. I still have my stockers with a Mac Prochamber , hiflo cats and Borla Stinger catback...and I love the sound my Terminator makes! Enjoyed the video Dan.

Thanks! Yes, I’ve heard the manifolds will handle 700hp, but that it doesn’t hurt to have better flow where possible

Thanks for your informative video. I have a question, what's would be the difference in sizes when buying long tubes? By sizes I mean 1 3/4, 1 7/8 and so on, and also on collector size like 2.5" or 3". Thank you

You’d have to see what each manufacture does, but these are 1-3/4 inch with a 3” collector, which goes down to 2.5” for the x pipe

Ok. So if I put long tubes will I be able to put the catallactic converter?

The long tubes will come down and then you'll need to add cats after that in the H or X pipe area if you want them

I have a 04 cobra with 2.8H kenne bell tuned on e85. it is making around 700whp at about 19psi. I am thinking about either increasing boost, or doing a small shot of nitrous. 50 or 75 shot. The engine is stock besides arp 2000 rod bolts, arp cam bolts, arp head studs, and gt500 timing chain tensioners as far as strengthening. Would you increase boost, and add more stress on the crankshaft, or run a small shot of nitrous and also have the cooling benefits of nitrous over adding more boost and straining the crank more. I'm afraid to break the snout, and I feel that a small shot of nitrous would be much safer and add power and cooling properties of it to the engine. What are your thoughts on this? Thanks for your videos, I have watched a lot of them!

A small shot shouldn’t hurt too much- however, nitrous will lower intake temps, but also burns hotter, so it may not be the heat reduction you’re looking for. I think you’re at the max safety level that I would personally suggest. It could hold another 100 hp, but you have to be very careful of a lean condition or bad fuel with that power level. You’re +100hp over my car. Way cool!

I reinstalled my MAC LT on my cobra a couple weeks ago and it was not fun. Luckily, we had a car hoist so we were able to lift the motor and trans up a bit to make the install a little easier, it stilled sucked though. Man i wish i had a car lift....

racequad9 when we removed the engine on our red fire COBRA project, we had to unbolt the headers in order to get the engine to clear the K member. I feel your pain lol 😂

if i ever have to pull the motor and trans again, i will go through the bottom. i will find a garage high enough to do so cause i am not going through the top again.

With mid length headers can I still use the factory pipes?

No, you’ll need shorty headers for a regular mid pipe. Of course a cat back can be used with all versions of the long tube, mid length, or shorty

SN95 and new edges are a pita to put longtubes on. My fox came with Gen1 Mac longtubes. Not sure how much clearance ill have when it comes to removing my t-5 trans. My car is tuned,if i go shorties would i need a re-tune?

What do you think about doing a v8 swap on a fox coupe? I have a beat cosmetically lx that runs great. Just curious if you had any thoughts on doing a conversion.

It’s very common, and they have new coyote kits that will plug and play! American Muscle sells them (or you could buy a wrecked car and transfer it all over).

Headers and fully upgraded exhaust on a blown motor should lower boost pressure slightly also

No, headers are always an advantage for scavenging and clearing out old gasses so they don’t go back into another cylinder. All I was saying is for flow rate, stock manifolds will work sufficiently until 700hp. Consider emissions and ease and cost of installation, but by all means put headers on if you would like to upgrade. You may not see it on your dyno sheet, but the gains and benefits are in other places

christianthebombcs The V6 already has shorty headers from the factory, so just go with a catless mid pipe and a GT take off catback (or catback of your choice) to get true dual exhaust

christianthebombcs Mid pipe install here: Note you’ll need to buy one that works for the V6, or like I did on my 97 V6, cut the y pipe before it goes to the Y and run straight pipes back to the catback

So its best just to keep factory shorty headers because i wanted long headers

christianthebombcs You won’t gain much from shortys to long tubes. For the money look into the eaton m112 cobra supercharger swap. You’ll be able to make more power than the engine will ever handle. I owned my V6 for 12 years. I’m not being rude, but the engines just won’t make much power with bolt ons. Step straight to a supercharger for the money.

Hey Danny I have an 03 cobra with a ported blower and bassani mid length with a 2.8 pulley only and I see 11 psi does that seem right? I’ve seen people have more psi with a 2.8 pulley but I read on svt performance that headers and ported blower affect boost

Savage Habits Yeah, it’s normal to loose some boost pressure from headers. That’s probably about right, but maybe 1-2 psi low. Has the car been dyno’d? I’d be interested to know output.

Danny Johnson yes it has, the previous owner said it made 490 at the wheels, so far all it has power wise is bbk intake, 2.8 pulley, bassani mid length headers with x pipe and bassani catback! Ported blower and dyno tune Also has 3.73 so that probably changed the dyno number a bit, but I plan on going with a dragon plenum and throttle body and a 4# lower.

Any backpressure is going to cause a loss of power. It does not help the engine run better in any way except to make it quieter

Danny Johnson Hey bud, just wanna ask this quick question 🤔: Since I have a 2006 Mustang GT & it’s an automatic with the Borla ATAK Exhaust & a few other mods as well but since I just got a Shorty X-Pipe Brand called “Dynatech SuperMAXX Catted 3 inch to a 2.5 inch X-Pipe” & just about to get the LT of the Dynatech SuperMAXX Stainless Steel Headers off from JEGS.com & it’s $899 but the X-Pipe says it’s already a catted -Pipe as well, too. I wouldn’t need to put any kind of “CATS” to be put on since I already have the Borla ATAK Exhaust that I explained earlier but I wouldn’t need any kind or put any “CATS” on it would I 🤔??

SXS4L It’s a 4.6L DOHC head from a 2003 Cobra. Basically a honda head but two of them 🙌🏼 Bigger than pushrod heads of even a 6.2L On my Yukon Denali 😎
