This was easily the best warm water diving I've ever done! Only made better by our amazing hosts in Rifshan and the team at Scuba Diving Maldives! Thank you so much for the memories! I'll be back... many times!

So glad you had a great trip. We went to the Maldives in January 2022 and the underwater life was incredible. The sheer numbers of fish was unlike anything we had yet to see. Unfortunately, we were there at the wrong season to see Mantas - but hopefully I will see them soon. We are going to French Polynesia in 2 months and hopefully it will impress as well. Cheers!

Thank you mate 🙏🏻 Yeah it really is a magical place. Wow, French Polynesia, not bad. I'm sure you're going to have some amazing encounters there as well. Enjoy. 😊

Oh! My! God! Epic encounters especially that manta! Kills me I couldn’t join you for this trip. Editing question: did you have all of this footage on one timeline and then select “bits” for your IG posts or did you have them in a separate Project for each IG clip as you chose what to post?
@MatthiasLebo Жыл бұрын
Yeah Rebecca, you really missed out on something. Next time... 😉 Regarding the editing, none of the clips used in this video were used on my IG account (yet). All the IG reels were taken with my iPhone in vertical shooting mode and uploaded straight onto IG from my phone. fastest and easiest way in my opinion. 😊

How would you compare it to a liveaboard in Maldives? I have only been in liveaboards in Maldives.
@MatthiasLebo Жыл бұрын
Two different things and each of them has its pros and cons. If you want to do as many dives as possible, then the liveaboard is clearly the better choice. But if you want to be able to do something in-between your dives (like sit at the beach, walk around the island, spend some times with the locals, eat in different restaurants) then I would recommend the stay on i.e. Dhangethi Island. You get the island feeling here, which you don't really get when staying on a liveaboard. On the other side, the diving is a little more convenient from a liveaboard. It really depends what you personally prefer. I really enjoyed having the freedom of staying on a local island. 😊

I am unable to find out the video of using insta 360 in Maldives water which I referred from mother video of yours.
@MatthiasLebo Жыл бұрын
That’s because I haven’t published anything about the Insta 360 from the maldives. I simply haven’t had enough time to test it properly while on that project in the maldives. It will have to wait until my next trip. 🤷🏻♂️

We spent a fair amount of time in the Maldives during the pandemic. It was very quiet with virtually no tourism in the islands at that time. Consequently most of the resorts were closed, but, as you mentioned, staying on a "local island" has many benefits. Most of the dive shops were closed then, so we tried to focus on islands with small populations and as little disturbance to the surrounding snorkeling zones as possible. The result was a nice collection of shallow water videos ( kzbin.info/aero/PLF5mV1m9OfjzA96eLLd9eDYulnAwozwd3 ), which certainly lack the jaw dropping cinematography of your highlights. None the less, completely agree that the Maldives is a fantastic location for some epic underwater experiences, and the vibe on the islands is just about perfect.
