I was a game tester at Sega in Redwood City CA from September to December 1996. I actually tested this game on a few occasions. We were so sick of playing this one, and everyone thought it was pretty crappy. The cutscenes and such were actually very good for the time though. When they earmarked it for release I don't think anyone thought it was gonna be a hit. I seriously doubt it was.

I actually really enjoyed this game. Played through it several times. I grabbed it right when Wally was pushing out their Saturn stuff for next to nothing (I think I paid 5 bucks for it), and it was a lot of fun, despite the flaws. If nothing else, it gave me another light gun game for my Saturn.

What a surprise to learn that the Scud game on PC and this are entirely different; I just thought it was another of the Saturn-to-PC ports of the time. The controller version of the game is terrible, beside the issues you describe, there is no level design to speak of, Scud seems to have a lot of energy just to be done with badly designed enemy encounters, and it still forces you on long stretches of first-person shooting. The second level, which is "Ok, we've made this side-view corridor and this first-person corridor, now let's repeat them two dozen times", is really abysmal. The gun version is at least a decent entry in the genre, if not spectacular, but at least it does an honest job by not forcing any gimmick or gameplay change. It may be described as "at least they tried" but it looks like they had great artists and no game designer at hand.

@@essdeecard Look at me answering to a 3 year old comment XD. You probably already found out by yourself, but just in case. The only Scud game for PC I know of is "Scud: Industrial Revolution". Which is a top down, I dunno, maze crawler you can call it, you traverse trought a maze like level while killing mooks and have to search for the boss of the level, after that you have to make it follow you to a portal at the beginning of the level, without killing it.

No idea, but it's kinda obscure, so it'd probably be expensive if you found it on eBay. You could always download a copy and play it through an emulator.

Sussudio isn't supposed to show up this soon. Tony needed a bit of convincing after Scud told him he wouldn't self destruct. Spider God is strangely absent. This game follows the basic story of the comic but the pacing is lost, the voice acting is a joke, and the game-play leaves much to be desired. Just read The Whole Shebang. It's better in every way.

I had this game as a kid. I always hated it lol. I remember getting to the end where you have to shoot the bomb up out of Drywall and having no idea what to do cause the game doesn't tell you. Insta game over if you time out and bomb blows.
