I love the little moments where you get excited about what your working on. Like when you finish sculpting a certain part and say “oh this is going to look so cool” shows how much you like doing what you do 😄 loved this video, it’s such an insightful look into the decision making process of a sculptor, I’m new to blender and your workflow meshes well with how I like to learn. Can’t wait to see more of your stuff!

I completely understand and live for the feeling of "Oh this is gonna look so cool, you can just tell" and "I'm gonna get some colours in there because I'm just too excited about this now" I love those feelings as an artist. Great job btw, I loved watching.

I learned modelling the 'hard way' 20 years ago in 3dsmax with just raw modelling and I have never been able to get past that. I have tried many times to get into sculpting but never found a work flow I liked. I have just seen your video and this workflow makes a lot of sense to me, can't wait to try it out, thanks a lot!!

Dude outstanding work. I was a little confused at first due to the way you started the head, never seen it done that way. It all came out looking amazing. Soon as the color started dropping in, just wow. I hope I can get to that level some day. I have quite a bit of Blender experience but new to sculpting and really modeling in general (did MC animations before). Trying to look to different creators to learn as much as I can as I'm designing a game where, I could use the purchased models but I'd really like to create my own, will be easier to expand the game in the future as well. Hope to see more like this from you. Maybe making different styles of characters. Maybe not so much style, as I like this. but, just different characters in this style so I can learn more :P again thanks man, found you on recommended, 1st vid but it got ya a like and sub. Time to see what other content you have. lol

Thanks for sharing, looks epic! Always love watching your videos! Do you increase the resolution of the Dyntopo as you go, or do you keep it constant at 4px throughout the sculpt as in the beginning? Looking forward to the next video in this series!
@FruitZeus
@FruitZeus 2 жыл бұрын
I usually keep Dyntopo around 4 the entire time. Any lower and it’s too dense per your viewport angle at the time, but I usually want more resolution in the sculpt than what 12 can give.

This is amazing ! But my only question can this done on a computer won’t a mouse rather than a tablet ?
@FruitZeus
@FruitZeus 2 жыл бұрын
I would say it can be done, but my honest opinion is that it’s worth the investment. You don’t even need the most expensive one either. I use the XP Pen 22E It ran me about $450 when I picked it up, but even that is more expensive than you really need. You can get tablets without a screen that are relatively cheaper. But my recommendation is a tablet with a display. There’s just something about being able to draw directly onto what you’re looking at that can’t be beat. XP Pen in my opinion is an incredibly reliable option for the price.

do you use that head base mesh technique when making realistic things aswell?
@FruitZeus
@FruitZeus Жыл бұрын
I don’t really try for realism because every time I’ve tried, I’ve landed deep in the uncanny valley. I prefer the stylized look for this reason. I wouldn’t be the best resource for realism, however if I had to give my opinion, I’d say there’s no reason this method wouldn’t work for realism also, you would just have to use “realistic” shapes and sizings. Also, you’ll likely have to go way deeper in the sculpting details to make a realistic human head.

Wow dude, thanks for this, your process = 100% sense. My only question would be,, before sculpting in detail.... would you try and build the medium polly face first (as if you were to retopologize afterwards), drop multi-res on it, sculpt the detail - and then just bake the high res bump map on the medium res uv? Is this a good practice or unnecessary? For example, you started with a low poly base and then sculpted detail. I assume you would retoplogize this way at the end to get rid of the gazillion triangles.
@FruitZeus
@FruitZeus Жыл бұрын
Hey! I’m usually not too picky. My sculpting process is a pretty iterative so this means I’m usually going back and forth with high detail, then retopo, then sculpt more detail in, then maybe another retopo (quad remesh) until I’m happy with something. Only when I’m really happy with the character and I’m ready to call it finished, I’ll do one final retopo, and then add on the multi res modifier. There’s a few ways to go about it, you can bake the details back into the multires from a high poly sculpt, or you can just do extra sculpting on it. Sometimes, I’ll just wait to add all the final detail to the absolute last pass with multi res. But I don’t worry too much about “the right way to do it” I just sculpt as it feels right and eventually, I end up with a character I like after going back and forth a while.

Nice tutorial, thanks for sharing. I think its way more easier to make a good head with the remeshed lowpoly basic shape, instead of taking a sphere and do the whole thing. I would recommend not to cover the brushes. Facecam isnt really necessary for these tutorials and it feels a bit distracting to me, because i always watch to the cam window when you start talking instead of following the sculpting. But the comments are really helpful. I think some big channels are recording it the same way but they only share the good comments while sculpting or record them later again (with better words and quality) and put them in place.
