Welcome back everyone I am Follygon and in this video I am going to be sculpting a female character from a photo in ZBrush! Sculpting the female face can be really difficult and I hope that you can learn something new in this video to help you with your own work. I really enjoy talking about my process in these videos but I can't always go super in depth on every little thing. That's why I have created many tutorials that you can follow along with to create your very own female character just like this one at Gumroad.com/Follygon. If you have something you would like to see me sculpt in the future, let me know in the comments! I am always looking for new ideas and character to create in 3D. Let me know if you enjoyed the idea here of turning photos into 3D characters. I had a lot of fun sculpting this girl and would love to do something like this again! If you have any cool photos that you think would translate to 3D please send those my way! I hope you guys enjoy the video and maybe learn something new. If you've read all this, what are you doing with your life!? jk, I love you ❤️

Thank you for sharing your process, this has been super useful for me! Any chance you can do a video where you elaborate on your process going from ZBrush to Blender? I'd love to use the same workflow but how do you go about creating the UV-maps, the materials, render settings etc.

Something I would love to see is like a polygon count in the corner or something, one of my biggest struggles at the moment is learning when and how much to increase the polygons to get the shapes I want.
@Follygon
@Follygon 4 жыл бұрын
I rarely pay attention to the number of polygons. I more so pay attention to my surface. If it is looking faceted for what I am creating, I add some more polys in the mix!

With a character like this, who has a middle part where you can see the hair line, if you ever want the hair to blend with the skin better (so it looks a little less helmet-esque, not that there's anything wrong with that but it is an aesthetic choice) something that you might consider trying sometime is painting a bit of the underlying skin color into the part of the hair. Its something that people with lacefront wigs do, and I'm pretty sure it would work in 3d :V then again, thats only if you want! Sculpt on, my dude!

Blocking out is the only way to do anything when making 3ad or even 2D stuff
@Follygon
@Follygon 4 жыл бұрын
Don't think of blockout as a step, but more so as getting down the primary form of what you are going to sculpt. I like to think of it like line art for a drawing. You need that before you can shade or texture. Same idea here. Here's a vid where I go into more detail: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fGjJo56VbLVjZtE
