Would you say dyntopo is a dead method of sculpting? I keep hearing they might remove it from blender at some point.

I never thought about it, but honestly when I check the workflow of other KZbinrs like YanSculpts, or Niko from Speedchar, they are not using dyntopo, in fact, in Yan’s old videos, that was his way of sculpting but he is now using the remesh. Dyntopo impacts the performance of the system way more than Remesh. Removing it won’t hurt anyone I believe.
