I would recommend to craft a Stone Axe right after the Backpack and then proceed to the bow. You will get much more resources that was. Awesome Guide and well explained :)

My preferred method for starting is to make a stone knife, so I can make a stone axe. Then I make a couple of wooden spears and hunt puppets. I collect the useful clothing and cut up anything I don't want, to make rope and rag for a small improvised backpack (not the courier one). When I have enough rags and rope I cut up a puppet and make a bone needle and then all I need is the sticks. You can also make an improvised water bottle from a puppet corpse, which is the most space efficient mobile source of water. Then I make a bow and a stack of arrows. I keep my clean clothes for bandaging wounds, although that is less important now we have under clothing as well. If I get scissors I hang onto them because you get more rag using scissors than you do an axe or knife, especially a stone knife. Now I have tonnes of inventory space, basic survival weaponry, bandages for healing and I am ready to start looting towns, bunkers and points of interest.

if you use the stone knife and cut bushes for small sticks, get 5 and make a rope. It will save you your pants and shirt..cut socks and undies or undershirt for the 3 rags. if you make an improvised spear and a bow (+ about 10 arrows) after that you'll end up with about 25+ fame points, your BP and 3 extra slots from the shirt and pants. You don't have to run around naked.

You're on the right path with this style of videos. This helps a lot of newbs. I discovered today that the big logs laying on the ground can be crafted into a basic storage box. Just gotta line it up correctly and make sure that you have enough rope/cordage. Then server restart your box is hidden within the log. It's a great hiding spot for gear.

Very nice, succinct introduction to the game. The final thing I’d like to see people reminding players about is that ALL of these actions contribute to your character’s experience and skill levels. It’s not all moot. Also, that was the greatest airdrop I’ve ever seen in game. Better than a tube full of rifles you won’t be able to use at that stage. (I can’t help but wonder if Soundwave played Santa? jk) ✌️❤️ And after reading the comment section it is brought home to me just how many different ways you can play the game/craft and get to the same point as everyone else. Brilliant!

Craft the stone axe as soon as you can. It last longer and can do a lot more thing as well as being more efficient which mean more materials.

when you're drinking make sure you keep intestine level below 80% by having number 1's and 2's cos you'll end up with diarrhoea and lose all the water you've just drank

I always go for the stone axe first.. ;) First i make a stone knive than cut a big bush, make a rope and craft an axe. Than cut a tree craft a (stone) spear and craft a club.. I can now cut trees, throw something and hit with something. From my first kill I can take the skin to make a small improvised backpack 12 slots. So i can keep my clean clothes, for when i need a bandage.

You can melee with a spear too, so I make two spears instead. You can also throw the stone axes and they are jut as effective as spears, but who wants to make three axes, when you can make spears more easily.

for those finding this video late, I will say DO NOT FOLLOW THIS GUIDE. even when this was made it was wrong. dont use the cutting up all your clothes for rags/strips. he even you can craft all the rope you will ever need without a single rag/strip. always craft tree bark rope, and when working on rope gathering he left a long stick behind. that long stick would break down into 3 small sticks which would have given him 5... enough to make a tree bark rope from that one bush instead of running all over. first item to work on is stone knife then stone axe then bag (this is where you cut up undershirt and underwear) cutting up the outer shirt and outer pants makes you lose some storage and some thermal resistance next is making quiver, you will need to cut up socks here for last bit of rags you need now craft a bow total rope needed is 4 pieces which is 3 bushes. the bow, axe handle, and 10-11 arrows will be 3 more bushes. if you met a puppet and had to deal with them, chop them up you will get an animal hide which with a few sticks and the rags you cut up from their clothes and another tree bark rope you can make the animal hide quiver and a better backpack, dont forget to make bone needles if you find thread this will help with improvised sewing kits (always useful) his guide would have you thermally challenged with less space and putting in far more work than needed.

Remember the metal knife is your best friend. It can save your life. Got two broken legs and 10 health, trapped in a stone base, No problem if you remembered your knife. You can sacrifice your t shirt or your hat for a rag.

Finially got the game today, its awesome, the video was a great help, but i found something interesting out......apparently my character used to be an illegal arms smuggler. I had my character take a shit and a ak-47 mag came out of his ass. I legit cant make this up. What a great game tho, interesting bug!!

We need a guide dependant on Crafting, the crafting system is so confusing, I have every single piece to make 2x metal axes, yet I cant even make 1 (YES I HAVE THE SKILL AND THE ITEMS) - After 42+ hours gameplay I still struggle with why some times Items just wont craft even with the skills and materials, A Developer told me that quality can render an ingredient useless (ie if you have nails that are 37% they cannot be used to make an axe), though I have spent most of today getting all 100% items to prove this theory and it failed. EDIT: Fix is in the replies!

Just make sure you click all the items in the bottom left hand corner before you craft. let me know how that goes.

@@RayKit my comment got removed because i put a screenshot link on there :P I found the game was not asking for 3uses of a single rope, it was asking for 3 full ropes with 10 uses each (which you would think the game would say 30x ropes with other crafting items saying that for example: 2x ropes is only 2x uses of a single rope not 2x full 10/10 ropes.)

Need to update this video. The menu is different now and I can't seem to figure out how to cut the cloth into rags. This video sucks man. You rush though things way too fast. I can't see how you put stuff in your inventory. It doesn't work for me to drag things in there. Now I'm naked, in the dark starving, lol
