They usually work in groups of 2 or more. Friend of mine had wallet stolen at a tube station. Getting onto the tube a woman pushed a baby carriage into the back of his legs causing him to stumble, the woman muttered some brief apology, he realised later it was a distraction that allowed the woman's accomplice to take his wallet. And yes, judging from the woman's accent she was from eastern Europe.

My grandfather lived across the street from a remote park in a larger city. From the 70s through the 80s they annually gathered there. Driving around the country in caravans of Cadillacs communicating by CB Radio. It was a way to survive. Im an artist with a great admiration for their creative contributions.

I caught a couple of young women trying to steal my mobile out of my bag which they had managed to unclasp and unzip. I was at the crossroads in Oxford Street with my friend,on our way to the Palladium. Lucky they didn’t get away with it as it had our etickets for the concert. One of them was carrying a huge tote bag, obviously to hold all the items they stole.

A friend had his wallet stolen twice by Albanian nationals, they were obviously trainees as he noticed and held on to the offender, a second tried to assault him but the crowd grabbed her. BT Police eventually turn up, they were well known to them and allegedly arrested 47 times and still allowed out and free, on the other occasion when he apprehended the woman she tried to claim sexual assault by him and the police arrested him.
