Wasn’t my favorite show this year but the pit writing is always top notch

Their music gets harder every year. This one and 2017 are the hardest shows to play in my opinion

It's been over a year and I'm genuinely surprised how little people I've heard mention the part at 7:00... LIKE WHAT?! HUH?! HOW
@henwill8 Жыл бұрын
Well so its just triple laterals which means 3 notes for every stroke, so it's not actually too difficult once you have the technique down, there are a lot of harder parts in this show

What range of mallets does SCV use? For both Sandi Rennick's sticks and the new pair.
@RennickDrums5 жыл бұрын
We use every one of the 4000 series as well as the new prototype cord wrapped mallets, coming out this Spring.
they are prototype marimba mallets we developed this year. IP4000 series with a different cord wrap instead of yarn. They were a great option for us to provide more articulation during bigger moments. They were able to cut when the entire ensemble was playing, including electronic layers. I think they will be released at PASIC this year? Keep an eye out.

How do you get good at playing octaves? Do you lock your mallets?
@jacksonweinberg35444 жыл бұрын
The bar width changes locking your mallets would cause inaccuracies. Its all muscle memory and practice

"Cavaliers 2019 FE was so good" are we not gonna talk about the 64th splits at 7:08
@shariqarain5 жыл бұрын
These are triple lateral sixteenth triplets im pretty sure, nowhere near 64ths lol. Also they weren't splits, each wood board player played pretty much the same part. Still impressive, but Cavaliers did have splits in their FE feature, which is a lot harder to pull of as a full ensemble rather than individual players. Although SCV does have a lot of difficult music, visually they don't perform as well as the cavies do, so imma have to say cavies are still the best front in world class dci. But i can definitely say SCV is in my top 3!

its a hard book but i wouldnt say harder than 2017, very close second tho
@Vanito8084 жыл бұрын
officialnovadrome you don’t think 2018 was harder? Especially with the octave runs EVERYWHERE and hand speed change triplet to 16th note 4 mallet octave runs at almost 200 BPM? Idk it looked harder to me. I haven’t seen 2017 in a while
@iKentEven4 жыл бұрын
Randy Oshiro There are a lot of octave passages in this show too. Also a lot of the other techniques used in 17 and especially 19 are harder than octaves.

@@Vanito808 they never said harder than '18, he just compared it to '17
