If this website did awards, this would get the gold medal. I wish all instructional videos were as clear as this. Great camera work, informative, intelligible and comprehensive accompanying audio instruction including pitfalls and no irrelevant music, chat or poor video. Will be doing this later and then off to find a similar standard guide to replacing the aircon compressor pulley/clutch. Fat chance! Well done; it must have taken ages to get all the camera angles, light and focus right.

What a nightmare! Replaced filters on both a Toyota Corolla and Subaru Forester and both were straight forward operations, no tools required. Thumbs up for the vid and information sharing, if i owned this car it would be been a great help.

I changed my filter over with the help of this great video. I tried to change it without removing the glove box, but this didn't work. Taking the glove box out was quite easy. No surprises, the filter than I removed was very dirty and old. New one in, and the air flow is so much better. Highly recommended.

Just followed your video, was brilliant. Was able to change mine. Although I had to undo the bolts for the fuse box mount, as I could not get the pollen filter door open. This was such a massive help. Thank you

Good informative video here. And well explained. Knowing your car is a good thing. I don't like saying this... But if possible folk really need to try to get to know their cars more as you have, and if that's not possible then at least try to get to know the mechanics that will be working on them! Unfortunately trust alone is not good enough these days :( I'm an ex (due to injury/disability) technician/forman of 25 years working on all vehicles and in main dealerships for Nissan/Toyota/Ford. Recently due to the disability and on my recommendation my Dad had his 2 year old Toyota Avensis serviced at a local main dealership as it was due for it's Major Service, which included the general service plus things like Cabin Filter, Brake Fluid replacement etc etc.. As I didn't know the guys at the dealership I felt that following the service I should really give the car a quick check over following the service just to make sure it was done ok.. As I then found that not only had general service items been missed or half done, on further digging I found that neither the cabin filter nor the brake fluid had been touched even though they were required jobs! I went back to the dealership and told them I wanted to speak to the Service Manager.. I informed him that they hadn't done the service properly and I felt that things had been missed out (almost empty washer bottle, blown headlight bulb, not being notified that front pads were over 50% worn and may need replacements soon etc.) Anyway It was when he started to argue the points with me that I told him that I was a former technician and could tell, and show him exactly what they'd missed... He asked me to wait whilst he went into the workshop, after a while he came back all sheepish looking. Whilst apologising profusely he admitted that these jobs indeed had not been carried out....Because.. Get this...The techs where a man down today as one of them was on holiday this week (oh really.) So that means my Dad still pays £350 for half a job? Erm nope! They couldn't get the car back into the workshop fast enough! We then got a 'proper' full service done AND the next one for free.. AND some freebies too. It's a shame that garages give this sort of bad service to customers, and experience has shown me that it's all because of greed! Good workshops are 'normally' busy places as they receive repeat custom over and over. However management put pressure on the service dept not to decline work, but then due to time restraints the work suffers as the techs can't cope and try to cut corners... Well unless they're just crap lazy techs to start with and those one should be weeded out by the forman/service manager etc!

Just changed it was really easy and the filter was absolutely black. And the amount of air that comes through the blower now is amazing. So thank you very much.

Yes, big improvement in airflow. At least the filters do a good job of collecting the crap in the air though. Thanks for watching :-)

Having done this now myself and this video was great only thing I would mention is in regard to that f'ing third bolt, if you take the felt off below and before you drop the fuse board access is way easier. Super video still not trying to take anything away from the maker.

Thanks for the vid, it helped me a lot. No glove box removal, just dropped down the fuse board and unhinged it at the back. Did not need to disconnect any plugs. I did remove the centre console side panel though in advance (one plastic stud), as I had just done a very similar filter change on a MK6 Fiesta (that one was easy). Thanks again.

one more thing to mention, the filter can only be removed on the LEFT side of the central console, so if the steering wheel is on the left side, you have to unscrew the gas pedal to get to it. I thought it can be removed on both sides and almost went to do it on the right side, luckily I checked first!

Excellent step by step video, it will save me time when I change mine next weekend, thanks for putting in the effort. I thought my old Galaxy was a bit tricky, but it was a doddle compared to this. Why do they make a serviceable item so fiddly to change? I wonder how many times you can change it before one of those wires fracture? Thanks again.
@sdgelectronics8 жыл бұрын
+Graham Proud It seems slightly more suited to the LHD model, but I'm not sure why they locate it there. My other car is a 2 minute change as it's accessible from the engine bay.
@grahamproud47138 жыл бұрын
+SDG Electronics I guess there is less clutter in that area on a LHD making it easier. Also if it is USA, it will be an auto, so no clutch pedal either. Makes it hard work for us though.

I have to say, this was an excellent and detailed step by step guide. I've recently bought a Mondeo Mk4.5 and I will check the filter out. Also, the previous owner broke the USB port (snapped the plastic out), so it was useful to know how to remove the glove box as well as I'll need to do that to replace it. Also, love how professional it all was, then "fucking nut" all of sudden when you found the 'hidden' one :P haha. Again, great video. Thanks for doing it.

For everyone complaining here how complicated this is - Stop crying man! Imagine changing this devilish filter in a left hand driving car like mine! It's on the same position as in this Video but just beneath the f**king steering wheel! and if that's not enough, you have to remove the damn accelerator to get to it. When you've done this, you will find yourself lying like a tunnel rat between your seat and the pedals of you car while you try to replace that shitty filter. Btw - good Video!

Very nice video and instructions. But, changing this filter looks to be a PITA. If this were for replacing something like a blower motor that one might need to change once in the life of the car, this would be acceptable. But, for access to an item one expects to change many times, the engineers who designed this should be fired and have their degrees taken away.
