Hornby 8F Review, Part 1

Part 1 of my review of the Hornby Stanier 8F. This is their latest version and features their new weathering technique. This loco was also the one that hualed on of the last train on the S&D! Part 2 will feature clips of her hauling a heavy frieght train. Hope you enjoy!

Great review of a stunning model, I'll never forget looking through a book about the S&D and seeing a photo of an 8F paired with 3 green Bulleid carriages and then turning the page to then see a 4F paired with 3 blood & custard Maunsell carriages. Never thought I'd see that sort of combination but those things did happen which is what made the S&D brilliant.

Thanks! It is a super model! I was so pleased when I found out it was a S&D number! Then I saw some old footage of one of the last trains on the S&D and she was hualing it along with a Standard 4MT tank! I was so pleased!

Thanks! No, LOL! Certainly does look very realistic with the weathering! One step a head of you! After the Trainspotting on the S&D videos, I will upload a review of another 8F in WW2 NE Black livery, then there will be two small WW2 videos with her hualing WW2 heavy freight trains. There will also be a video of her caught in a German air raid!

Yeah! I think she was the last (or one of the last) passenager train over the S&D. She double headed with a Standard 4MT tank. Glad you like it!

Thanks! Certainly is! That why I too really like the S&D! Appart for it being quite local, its the amazing verity of engines and stock that was seen on the line and some of the combinations!

Thanks! One of the WW2 freight it will be hualing is a massive private owner coal train and other will be a WW2 Military train, with tanks, field guns and tracks. Oh, and I might be going to the GCR on the Sat 16th March.

Finally I know where 48706 came in. I know she was on the last passenger train, but I had no idea she ran on the S&D, I've got to work that into my stories somehow. xD

Nice loco and great review really like your mixed goods set I am trying to make a mixed set local to my area and what they might have looked like. I dont know why but I really like SR brake vans :)
