I love all the German WW2 vehicles and I'm jealous of the people who own them.

Военный тягач расчитанный в том числе и на плохие дороги , на них как раз-то трудно и управляется - парадокс . Не зря такая схема шасси сегодня нигде не применяется . А в целом ролик посмотрел с большим интересом !

Excellent video, thanks for sharing. I alway thought these german halftracks "steered"with their tracks as well when the frontwheels are at certain angle but it does not seem to work on this one.

So, this Halftrack is used by the Berlin Tegel airport? For which task? I have never seen it towing an Airbus 320 or Boeing 727 to its gate, a work for which the Sd.Kfz.7 originally was constructed as Zugmaschine (towing tractor).

@SanderD171 And it will be worth going for the 3rd time, had a ride in the hetzer this year, best 15mins of this year i've had. hopefulyl we'll see some new vehicles next year.

looooooooooooool, and this demonstrates nicely the handling issues halftracks have which led to their discontiuation. They just will not fucking turn unless you tank steer them, and by that point, you might as well just be fully tracked. Modern electronics could probably blend brake steering and the front wheels into one that drives decently, but again, there's no real point when you can just do a fully tracked vehicle for less cost.
@bogomir6710 жыл бұрын
Remember that all German HTs basically were tracked tractors, with an added front axle to improve steering on the road. Debateable if this should be called a half-track. You can tell by the imense length of the tracs and the extremely short gap betwenn the fornt end of the tracks and the front wheels. So you are absolutely right - without tank-style steering, they would just keep going straight. Compare this to the M3 - here they just replaced one or two rear axles with a track System (but short, and far away from the fron wheels). With that, they only needed a diff (no need for track steering brakes). But who cares? I love the smell of wasted fuel in the morning! ;-D
@TestECull10 жыл бұрын
Thomas Bögel Heh. The M3 had turning radius issues too, but for a different reason. I don't know why but the steering boxes on them don't seem to have all that much throw, so while the front wheels have ample authority over which direction the thing is facing, they just can't turn far enough to tightly swing 'er around.

Bei dem Teil scheint irgendwie die Kettensteuerung defekt zu sein. Ansonsten würden die Ketten bei eingeschlagener Lenkung nicht mit gleicher Geschwindigkeit geradeaus laufen.
