Would love to see these blocks go through each of the building processes and then on to the dyno. Especially the aluminum high rpm engine!

Great stuff. Love to see how far these can go; I know Colbey Davies is running over 2200WHP with a stock block; I bet the Dart can beat that by a long shot

Very interesting, you've got to be making some serious power to be looking at upgrading from the factory block!

BGEs start giving up around 1400, we had a Dart Block with a 427CI(4.08X4.08) build hit 2280 with a BDS blower and 92% Nitro(running a lenco trans

So, question here. Why get rid of the piston oil squirters for clearence other than stroke? Seems to me if you wanted rpm then it would be wise to not stroke it keeping rotating mass down and keep the oil squirters to cool it as more friction is apparent in the higher rpm especially in the aluminum block that heats faster and is prone to warping especially with sleeves that expand and contract at different rates bit i supose na you need cubes. Is there any other benefits to removing this because both after market block have it removed and if you do stroke either after market block what cools the pistons then? or is thus strictly do a run and turn it off because it's now only a race car good for a run and done until temps come down? Not knocking it serious question. Also, it seems like dart could have made it the way it was plus crossmain bolts and all with cracked main caps. If you're going to spend the money, why not make a bullet-proof block. This tech isn't new.

No nascar, no indy car, no formula 1, no top fuel, no pro stock... run a shorter stroke that results in less CID than the rules allow. They all run basically the biggest bore they can and stroke it to max CID allowed by rules. Intentionally running a shorter stroke to get more RPM from a smaller CID than the rules allow... doesn't make the car faster. You do not go faster running a smaller CID than the rules allow unless you get weight breaks for smaller cubes.

stock pistons are designed for oil squirters. There is a balance between NVH and emissions requirements and the pursuit of horsepower, so OEM's do not typically go to an aftermarket 2618 AL piston that doesnt need oil squirters as they typically rattle on startupas they need to heat up and expand in the bore, and higher silicon content pistons that the OE has, do not have as much expansion needed to avoid startup piston slap. 2nd aftermarket pistons dont need squirters because the design, in conjunction with aftermarket or even the supplied ring pack, dissipates enough heat without squirter use. This is even more true for alcohol applications where E85/methanol also removes heat via adiabatic cooling and its increased latent heat of vaporization. Modern sleeving is press fit by cooling the sleeve to shrink, and heating the block in an oven to expand the block after drilling out the OEM sleeve to aftermarket sleeve OD install size. Some are also adhered in place with Loctite as well. Those conditions that result during install, the shrink/expand to fit are never going to be repeated again in a performance app. Also these are largely cooled with engine coolant as well so little to no worry about sleeve dropping... unless improperly installed

Great content. Is it possible to add piston oil squirters on the Dart block?

@@gordonpaden5951 Would this block not be a good choice for a pump gas only build that’s meant for a HD truck because of missing piston oil squirters ?

@@adamg3911 The Dart block is mostly made for High HP racing applications. The OEM BGE will be fine for a pump gas truck engine.

@@gordonpaden5951Oil piston squirters are a must for pump gas only drag & drive vehicles? Would knock sensors on the Dart block potentially preform different than OEM?

@@adamg3911 If you are building a pump gas engine, then using the dart block would be the equivalent of shooting a sparrow with a cannon. Any time you change the anything on the engine the knock sensors will act differently and has to be accounted for.

Max bore on the Dart is 4.25 , we've done four 4.25X4.25 builds,( 482CI) and 2 488(4.25X offset ground 4.25 crank to 4.30) Max on the 14-16 BGE and Hellcat block is 4.165, the 11-15 Apache block will go to 4.125 , thew newer 6.4 block will go 4.135 , get a good one and 4.165 is about the largest the oem block will take.

Not that 4 bolt splayed mains are bad because they're actually great, but I wish Dart would've gone with 4 bolt mains with cross bolts like the aluminum block. The LS is a testament to how well that bottom end works.

Does anyone else like how the heaviest block is on the spindly three leg stand, and the two lightest are on the heavy duty stands, not that any are approaching the stands weight limits. Just an observation.

it's pretty good from the factory , if you want more oil to the mains put a restrictor in the passages that feed the MDS solenoids from the main gally.

There is like no material between the bores on the aluminum block.
@ronaldmoparornocar9590
@ronaldmoparornocar9590 Ай бұрын
that's because you have to use sleeves in the aluminum block no ifs ands or buts they all have their places in race application but the aluminum block is more hard core race.....not going to pop that into your grocery getter or commuter vehicle unless you have more money than brains I am guessing

The aluminum block makes more sense if you are looking to do racing other than drag or ovals. Trans Am or other sports car racing is more about power to weight, and in 5.7L form makes a great powerplant for Mopar-based sports racer. A great alternative to the LS-based examples out there.
