Yeah, they were just too many students at the same time. He only got closer to Kokoro who was obviously the most trustworthy and intelligent one. Otherwise, he just didn"t dare. In a way, he is just being shy/careful with them. But when someone like Sora tries several times to get closer to him, it ends up working and he opens up more.

Aha, I was right. Although I hadn't seen these before watching the main game, I always thought Shoubai was secretly fond of Sora in his own way. I like the developer's way of showing it by initially having two bad options and one good one, to one good, one neutral, and one bad, to two good and one bad. A nice integration of gameplay and story. He is an awful person as said, but the ending and fte show that even he has his limits. Thanks for translating this.
