I would recommend: Extending the break lines, adding an adjustable track bar, replacing the bump-stops and leaf spring bushings to assure the best job! New 31's on the wheels to //;-)

This is an older video but while I appreciate the sequencing of the job, do not believe that it is easy. These are older jeeps with rust and more rust. Trying to attach the replacement kit parts requires a lot of realigning which is difficult when dealing with heavy axles. Shock bolts snapped off and you are delayed trying to repair that. Would I do it again? Not myself. I would hire someone to do it. Or I would just drive the jeep the way it is.

Great video guys. I just bought a 95 2 door Jeep Cherokee Sport and aside from the interior being a wreck it runs well despite having 230k on the odometer. I want to restore it and add 4 wheel drive and a lift kit. Any suggestions as to what you guys or other folks on here with experience would recommend as a plan to begin the process and what issues I may encounter. And one more thing. Economically of course. Thanks in advance!

I put this lift on with my wife it on our 90 Cherokee Laredo super easy. OH HELL NO PAIN IN OUR BUTT AND LOTS OF TOOLS THROWN. So I made it easier I bought a set of Pro Comp extreme 3" leafs and full energy suspension poly bushings it made sooooo much easier. Add a leafs suck so do yourself a favor buy a kit that comes with full leaf springs. My 04 Jeep Libby suspension was easier and that was a pain. My JK was the only Bolt on kit that I did that I didn't bleed MUCH putting it on. I love RCX but just spend the extra money and always get the one up 👆 lift never settle when it comes to crawler's or we will be towing you out of Moab with all the other mall crawlers.

At 4" and high except the brake lines they definitely need to be extended even at 3" lift if you plan on going anywhere off road. Just saying you never know I've met guys or females that can't even tell the size of tires they have on there $50,000 dollar jeep. PATHETIC!!!!

6 minutes?!!! These guys are funny! Maybe if you were working on a new vehicle . . . try doing it to a 19 or 20 year old daily driver that's been traveling New England's roads in all seasons! Similar work (not this kit) to my '99 XJ resulted in a 12 hour day at the garage, not counting followup work! The bolts will be hopelessly seized in the bushing sleeves on both ends of the leaf springs - no way to get them apart without destroying the bushings! Pretty much every other bolt you have to remove will be similarly seized and require patient heating with a torch to break them loose. They also don't mention that you'll probably have to move the lower track bar bolt over, perform an alignment to reposition the steering wheel relative to the wheels and drop the transfer case an inch to improve the shaft angles (unless, of course, you'd rather rebuild your transfer case to add the slip-yoke eliminator so you can run a CV drive shaft - about another $500 in parts, not to mention the extra time/labor). Adding lifts to older vehicles is HARD - don't let anyone tell you otherwise!

6 minutes hahaa ya you guys forgot to mention if the springs have been in since the factory the sleeve always gets stuck in the bushing and you cant pull the leafs off without cutting them up. if you have an older jeep buy the kit with new springs trust me on this one these guys prepared this jeep before this vid.

Amen to that!.. Anything that's spent time in the rustbelt or by the sea is gonna take a shitload or cutting wheels, chisels and patience.. Been through 3 xj spring jobs recently .. N whatever ya do.. Don't pull out the 3/4 or one inch drive airgun thinking it just needs more power to get the front eye bolt out.. ya just mess up the spring cup or snap the bolt goin into the unibody frame.. big big mess.. bottom line.. buy new springs and new hardware.. especially u bolts

no bumpstops with 3"? missing something at full flex? And my personal opinion is to never, ever get an add-a-leaf. The springs are only as good as the weakest one, its kind of like wiping your arse with toilet paper that already has shit on it. You're better off paying the little bit extra to get a full set of springs made and rated for the lift instead of the factory springs....which are not. However if your leaf springs are new (You won't find a new XJ nowadays) then you could get away with an add-a-leaf as at least the springs will be new and not be worn or sagged out....as happens with any van or jeep after a few years.
@sdtrucksprings

We agree with you that the Add-A-Leaf is inferior to Leaf Springs. Rough Country has designed their kits to not only be economical but design for performance.

6 minutes my ass....the front ain’t bad took about 2 hrs, the back is a biach, not the kits fault, rusty locked up spring bolts, and the rear shock bolts broke. My Jeep is 21 years old, unless u get one out west that isn’t rusted from road salt like 99% are in the north east, plan on spending some extra time on installing this or any other lift.....wish I would have bought some 35s and cut the fenders now lol...good luck
