Some brilliant bit of foreshadowing in the Peanuts episode is that if you look closely you’ll notice the oyster doesn’t start crying as soon as she’s hit with a peanut. She looks around first and then starts crying because she notices her pearl is gone.

For context in case anyone cares, the Jojo part 5 manga started publishing in '95, Spongebob season 1 started 99. The OVA was just part 3 and at the time, chances of manga being localized were seriously slim. Chances of Sponge Bob's creator to actually read that were zero.

The episode “Pressure” Is pretty much another boys vs. girls episode. With all the boys representing sea creatures, and Sandy being the only girl to represent land creatures. Even the way SpongeBob and Sandy use the word “squirrel” is on the nose. Just replace squirrel with girl and it becomes what you would think. But the message at the end is a lot more impactful than any other gender defender episode of a show that I’ve seen. “Everyone’s best at something, but nobody’s best at everything”.
