Great video Hawaiian Dan. Do you know if the ferries would allow me to take one of my Paddleski's to Port Jefferson? If I get my Torqeedo fixed, maybe I could check out that beach you showed with the white sand, and come by and say hello.
@SeaEagleBoats2 жыл бұрын
Hi Nate, thanks for watching. You'll want to give the ferry a call but I don't see why not. It is a bit cold and now the windy season to visit that beach but it is pretty cool. Feel free to come by anytime and say hello. I'm working at HQ and remotely depending on the projects but there's always someone at the office. I can't believe how quickly and drastically the weather changed for us this year. Last year it was pretty warm through Nov.

@@SeaEagleBoats Thanks Dan. I've been thinking about this for a few years, but haven't made it yet. I'd also like to take one of my Sea Eagles to Long Island Sound, which is something I haven't done yet. Maybe in 2023? Other than visiting Coney Island, I haven't really been to Long Island at all. I've been vising Rye Playland Amusement Park on the Long Island Sound however every couple years or so. Looks beautiful on the water too.

This is great. Is there another option other than the trailer to wheel it into the beach if you live right on the beach and want to launch from your house? Such as a wheel attachment or dolly?

When you put the FastCat on the trailer, are the bunks under the pontoons or under the deck?
@SeaEagleBoats10 ай бұрын
Hi @Canadarago, it depends on the style of bunks and your preference. The bunks are usually under the deck. However if using a pontoon boat style trailer it can be under the pontoons. What would be the minimum size motor you recommended
@SeaEagleBoats Жыл бұрын
Aloha @Chillfam and thanks for watching, commenting, and your question. This is Sea Eagle's Hawaiian Dan and it really depends on your usage. I personally recommend going with the biggest motor within the specs that fits your use requirements and budget. You can always throttle down but you can't throttle up if the power is not there. For an electric motor I wouldn't go less than the Watersnake Advance 70 ► sea.gl/WSADVANCE70 which will yield 3-5 mph and for a gas motor you can go with the Honda 5S HP ► sea.gl/HONDA5S-YT but in my opinion you'll be under powered. The Honda 9 HP ► sea.gl/HONDA99S_YT will yield better results. I personally run with a 20 HP Honda and love it! I hope this helps. Thanks for watching. 23mph with one person seems slow for a 20hp on such a light boat. I have a 2 stroke 15hp that goes 25mph on a standard riveted 14ft jonboat with a stock pitch prop. I would think that 20hp should do a solid 28mph on that inflatable. Is that a stock pitch prop you guys are using? Even a much heavier all welded 14ft jonboat does 23mph with a stock prop with a 20hp. Something isn't adding up here why your boat is only going 23mph with one person and a 20hp. Your boat is way to light to be going that slow.
@SeaEagleBoats Жыл бұрын
Aloha Chris R, thank you for watching and commenting. It seems you are trying to comparing apples with oranges which are totally different. 2-strokes produce far more power, instantaneous delivery, and weigh incredibly less than 4-strokes. A 14ft riveted jonboat weighs under 200 lbs and most much closer to 160 lbs compared to the FastCat14™ which when rigged for speed testing weighs in at around 820 lbs. (hull, seats, fuel tank, 20hp, captain). It is a stock pitch prop that we use so similar expected speeds can be achieve by owners with similar setups. Welded 14ft jonboats weigh in around 275 lbs., which is still far less than 820 lbs., and the design of a jonboat is completely different from that of a catamaran hull. Not to mention aluminum, fiberglass, carbon-fiber, and inflatable hulls are all made from different materials. All produce different speeds as well as performance and handling results. For instance, inflatables provide much more buoyancy. However, they are also affected by the wind. Aluminum is fairly light but conducts temperature more so than inflatable and fiberglass. Fiberglass is fairly heavy when compared to aluminum and inflatables. Then there's design considerations. The FastCat14™ has a fairly large deck space and square outline. A jonboat is more rectangular, has less deck space, and displaces weight across a larger surface area. The FastCat14™ when on plane, displaces weight across only two pontoons and the deck rides well above the water. So while air underneath creates lift, it also creates drag. Much more so than a jonboat does. However, the trade out of how the FastCat14™ rides in rough conditions outweighs that of a flat bottom jonboat in similar conditions. The FastCat14™ feels like it's riding on clouds. A jonboat will yield a slapping ride that will jar one into kingdom come. Sea Eagle appreciates all hulls, shapes, designs, and manufacturers. We truly love anything water related and feel there is a hull out there for everyone. Our goal has always been to deliver the very best inflatables and provide top notch customer service and support. When comparing things, it's best to compare similar products. However, we truly appreciate your comment. It may help others understand the gross differences as well. Thank you for watching and commenting. We hope that you'll consider subscribing for more informational videos to come.

@@SeaEagleBoats The fastcat 14 boat is listed at 139 pounds. Your speed test with one person was the speed I was referring to. Comparing both boats empty the inflatable is still lighter than a jon boat. I'm not disrespecting your boat in any way, I just didn't know the new 20hp was that slow and I'm disappointed in that. I also have a new 6hp 4 stroke and it goes 18mph on a kaboat inflatable with a stock prop. So I was surprised that a 20hp with one person on the boat wasn't much faster. I just care about top speed that's all, it's just me riding in it. I want whatever small boat I get to go as fast as possible with one person is what I'm looking for. Thank you for replying back. So what is your absolute fastest boat you sell? I would buy another inflatable boat but I want it to be as fast as possible with one person.
@SeaEagleBoats Жыл бұрын
@@chrisr465 No disrespect taken. We hope none is received on your end as well. Conversation is a good thing, often with positive results. Your train of thought is interesting. We never thought of speed-testing the FastCat14 with a single seat. Doing so would reduce that particular testing load to 486 lbs (hull, one seat, 20 hp, fuel tank) versus 820 lbs. The one concern we would have is too light a bow with such a lightweight hull and a large surface area catamaran design may result in an undesirable effect. Of course, we could relocate the gas tank to the bow and that may do the trick. At this point in time, the FastCat14 is the fastest hull we offer.
