Even when the fishings hard, and they aren't biting, your craft and skill saves the blank, great to watch, as usual. I know where the folk saying how is easy you make it look are coming from. Trust me, after a good year watching John fish, I thought I'd go down for two weeks holiday and be eating fresh fish every day. Without the local knowledge, skill and talent, it sure isn't as simple as it looks! However, stealing John's wrasse fishing tricks, we had an absolute blast catching some of the stunning looking ballans.

When I first started following you, many moons ago, I was impressed with the way you returned your fish. You were gentle and took great care of the return to the water. Nowadays you just goes them in any old husband there is little or no care of the fish or watching to make sure it swims away ok. A little more care please John
@TheFishLocker2 жыл бұрын
Marion different fish take better to being returned in a different manner. Some fish need a gentle release. Others actually swim away better when they enter the water with some force. Pollack, wrasse and Bass for example go back better when torpedoed in head first. Rays, I have learned over the past few months if you slap them back slightly it spurs them on to flapping away. Some very delicate fish, like Red Mullet, John Dory or flounder for example you will see me cradle and allow to swim from my hands. Edit: I will add that it was only recently when fishing with someone else where they showed me about the returning of rays and the difference stood out.

Some lovely small eyed ray, loved the comment ‘I’m out here more then a seagull’ Have you ever thought of doing a night trip on your boat. You have all the safety kit and nav aids. We used to do a few night trips anchored up in the Humber Estuary up tiding for winter codling with worm. Was quite successful and a completely different slant onto fishing for COD out of Whitby with pirks and muppets. It. Was an old decommissioned small trawler and the smell of bacon and eggs coming up from the galley was most welcome after 5 or 6 hrs of cold fishing conditions.

"It's not always nice in Cornwall".....but yer shure beating me! Was supposed to be out today for rockfish/ling cod on some shallow reefs, but? Maritime forecast for Depot Bay, Oregon: 12ft combined seas at 8 seconds, North wind building from 20knts to 30knts in the afternoon. Poseidon says "NO!!". LOL

Not a great day for fishing. But, a great day to be alive. Excellent content as always. I enjoyed the sea floor cam. 🇺🇸
