I sometimes anchor bang on centre so fish the pools either side either tide....it’s where the incoming tides around the island converge. Very interesting area

Yet another great video, I didn't know about that gravel spit going out into the swale. Great fish, and whilst I agree with catch and release it is food to see someone willing to show that some fish for food is still ok. Awesome

If you search elmley ferry, Sittingbourne on google maps it will take you directly to the mark. The last bit of the track is inaccessible in the winter in a normal car as the puddles are very deep but a 4x4 will be ok

hi bud great vid thanks for sharing,, i use a casting cannon too but have to wrap mine around 2/3 times whats your braid breaking strain mine may be a bit thin
@gsp4 жыл бұрын
My mainline is 18lb braid with a 68lb mono leader. If the Canon is not directly above the spo the you need to wrap it more than once and it causes problems. I only wrap mine once, always on the leader and it cast fine. Tip.. Don't use braid straight through or a braid leader, the lack of stretch puts too much strain on the rod when under load and it can snap your rod
@keithgribble81434 жыл бұрын
@@gsp ahh your using a mono leader im using braid straight through mainly estuary fishing, and the weed is a pain, so i have done away with a leader/shockleader knot so as it doesnt jam up with a tidy bass on im mainly fishing sand or mud, but thanks for the advice bud

Brilliant video 👍 we’ve had loads of skate this year in the swale just off the old coal jetty at Kemsley mill and there’s been some nice Sizes as well plus the bass have been plentiful as well 🎣

Are you able to fish off that jetty? The swale can be very hit and miss but sometimes does throw up so good fish
@Mr-millen4 жыл бұрын
@@gsp we’ve got are own boat and have had great success in the swale this year but you can’t fish off the coal jetty anymore

Great fishing, thanks for sharing. I would like to know you thoughts on the Sonik Gravity HT, have you done a review on it? I have the same rod and love it.
@gsp4 жыл бұрын
I also love it and think it's one of the best rods for sea fishing in the UK. It may not withstand the strong tides of the Bristol channel but for the majority of what I require it for its ideal. Great bite detection and sensitive tip with a stiff mid and butt section. Im looking at getting another one

Great video and surprised about the rays. Although I agree with catch and release I also think it's right to take for the table. I know there will be the purests that will think you should have released them all, I believe you can't beat fresh caught fish for the table. I must say I love a bit of dog fish (better known as Rock Salmon) and skate wings are very tasty although a bigger to cut up and skin. Once again congratulations on a good bag and it have been so easy to keep the third day but having enough for the table you released it.
@gsp4 жыл бұрын
I take what I feel is adequate for me, I freeze some but as I mainly only eat fish it seems silly to catch fish and put them back just to go to the supermarket and buy prepared fillets. It would all be alot more sustainable if everyone caught their dinner instead of buy from the fish counters

Do you recommend those casting canons? I use a finger stall at the moment and thinking about making the change.
@gsp4 жыл бұрын
I love the casting canons but they do take a little bit of getting used too. My sonik is soon in need of re guiding (factory whipping with metallic threads don't last) so when I do that I'm wrapping one on permanently!
