It's cute how passionate you are about sea hunt. I'm enjoying the episodes now since you first introduced it. Thank you :)

My family lived in Bel Air in the late 50s/early 60s. We watched Sea Hunt religiously. One day, as we were driving home from the beach, we passed a station wagon and, wouldn't you know it, Loyd Bridges was at the wheel. I believe his wife was sitting next to him and a couple of kids were in the back. I assume it was Beau and Jeff. Their daughter might have been there too. The only thing we could think to do was yell "SEA HUNT!" and wave. Lloyd smiled at us and waved back. A genuinely nice fellow.

Lloyd was a very generous man who gave many new actors jobs. Thanks for sharing this sweet story.

@@AlecPeirceScuba_SeaHunter My pleasure, sir. Having gotten that response from him and watching him in various roles through the years, I can say that he ranks among the greats. He was also a far, far better actor than he has ever been given credit for. He really could do it all. I remember so many characters but one in particular comes to mind. His portrayel of the White Knight in Alice In Wonderland is memorable. Don't ever feel a need to apologize for your interest. I always say there are good obsessions and bad ones. Yours is a very good one.

Dear Alex ,Lloyd Bridges also played good Sci-Fi on Battlestar Galactica as Commander Cain in the old Battlestar Galactica I enjoy every show he's ever made. He was an incredible actor.

@@AlecPeirceScuba_SeaHunter I have a question for you Alec what type a rifle was the shark rifle that Mike Nelson used that he kept on his boat I think it was a Japanese type 38 or something like that but I'm not sure could you check on that. Thank you ,have a great day.

Not sure at all. I'd suggest it was a Garand only because that was standard issue for GIs and a lot of stuff in those days was war surplus. Many Garands were sporterized by simply having the stock shortened from the full stock to the shorter, hunting style. Plus the 30:06 cartridge has always been an American favorite. An interesting aside is that the famous American Garand was designed by a Canadian. And lastly, while not well-known, Garand is pronounced to rhyme with 'errand'. So, after all that, I don't know. I'll send this to a friend of mine who is a Garand nut and Sea Hunt nut too. Maybe he'll be able to give you a better answer. Alec

Cool! I love stuff like that. Also, you have a really nice set for shooting there. The bottom of the stairs sort of look like siding - like you're outside on the deck of a beach shack or something. (You could probably boost that effect if you covered up the light switches on the wall with an oar or something nautical.)

I just turned 55 this month so I was only an infant when Sea Hunt ended. They must have been showing re-runs in the mid 60's because I can remember watching it with my Dad. I recently purchased all 4 seasons on DVD. In all of the episodes that I have watched so far, I noticed that the J valves on all the tanks are in the down position and no J rods are installed. I wonder why?
@AlecPeirceScuba_SeaHunter8 жыл бұрын
Probably because all the dives were made in 20' of water or less. At the time of the show, they were not interested in technical accuracy. I'm sure not many 10 year-old kids noticed that!

8:47 "I don't know if the Bridges' still own it or not..." Current records show that it is owned by "Dorothy Bridges (Estate of Deceased)," with Susan Bridges (Jeff's wife) having power of attorney.

Wow! That's great and the "For Lease" video of the house is really nice. I can see posters of some of Lloyd's movies on the walls. It's clearly been all renovated recently. My picture sure would have been at home in the garage. Next time I'm in LA I will try to arrange a tour. That would be a thrill. Thanks Brian.

With almost 60 years as a scuba diver, I'm no noob. Did a lot of light commercial work and lots of deep stuff but I'm no Techie. Not a big fan of the Cousteaus. I guess I'll have to settle for being Mike. Ah well. Thanks for watching. Alec

was the actor, a diver before the show or was the show built around his already being a diver?
@AlecPeirceScuba_SeaHunter3 жыл бұрын
Lloyd Bridges was a well known actor before Sea Hunt but never dived before getting the part of our hero Mike Nelson. He was trained on diving during the shooting of the first episodes and only close ups of Lloyd's face where shown. In latter episodes you could see Lloyd's face diving. By the end of the series Lloyd's wife and kids were all divers.
