Great vid! Here I am July 5 2024, it's 17 degrees pissing with rain like the rest of the summer. Totally fed up with the government and cloud seeding and chemtrails!

Amazing. I used to live in Mullion, now in Glossop. If you need another paddle buddy, my Virgo is on back order!

Final instalment at last! What do you do all day? ;0) You're right Frank - we get to Cornwall 2 or 3 times a year and for you to get these conditions for a straight fortnight was incredible. 12 days paddling - no wonder Matt just couldn't go on... I can only agree with what has been said mate, this is an absolutely lovely series of vids showing the Cornish coast at its absolute best. Brilliant. I'll see (or hear) you on the water sometime lads, Mick.

Glad you like them, this one was a particular ordeal, as my computer just kept tripping out, it had me tearing my hair out. All in all it was the best Summer for years, but it certainly feels like payback time at the moment.

Yes, a great video to end with. Thanks for the great series, probably better than anything the tourist board could do for Cornwall.
@GBPaddling10 жыл бұрын
Keef, they should pay me, ha ha, a huge salary, or just a one off, that would need be so big, it would need a van to deliver, ha ha. I had hell on doing this one, the computer kept tripping out. After using every expletive known to man, I cured it by hoovering it out, the dust was incredible, probably causing it to overheat, I think.

I understand that, I am working like crazy to save for my sea kayak, thanks again for the great videos.

Nice one, we may 'cross paddles' sometime then. As soon as the wind stops howling, and the big orange ball appears in the sky, we'll be there.

Nice one Frank. I did the whole Cornish Coast during 2013. Love it, but I bet it looks very different during these current storms.
@GBPaddling10 жыл бұрын
Good stuff Ian, don't know how you feel, but the North coast is the most exciting, but it's all superb, but not at the moment eh?
@Selkian10 жыл бұрын
GBPaddling I like different parts for different reasons. The beauty of Cornwall is that there is such contrast and a wide choice all in close proximity. Sometimes, I like a social paddle within reach of a nice eatery. Paddle, lunch, return -Fowey to Looe springs to mind. Other times, I want to feel that I am lost in nature with no one around. North Coast has lots of options for this. Like you, I like the caves. I use a surfski Epic V8 or my own open cockpit sea kayak. This allows me to get of and snorkel, spear fish etc. It adds another dimension. I even occasionally dive with a small 7lt tank. Great for the shallows and mixing my 2 loves of paddling and diving. I find I get to places underwater where no one else goes :) Do you have a Facebook page for photos? I have started putting stuff up. search Surfskiskayak Ian Smith

Did you come down this year? It was like the Bahamas down here this summer. And the greeny/blue of our waters was even more magical... :D PS can I suggest a polarising filter for your camera lens, it will cut all the reflections off the water. And will intensify the colours, and will also help with your shadows to show the definition you wanted in the rocks. Polpeor Cove lifeboat station closed in 1961, it's now based at Kilcobben Cove. They moved it because of the problems they had winching back in the boats, they occasionally got damaged so in the end they moved it. That's why there's no access also to the beach.
@GBPaddling6 жыл бұрын
Yes indeedy, Linda. I did a teaser video some while back, it was an awesome trip. I have a polariser on the Gopro and have noticed the difference, I have considered it for a while now. Previous visits to Polpeor Cove by myself have included access to the beach? This is the first time I have seen the beach sealed off like that.

Thanks Robin, believe it or not, I haven't been out, at all, since this video. Truth be told, I couldn't really afford this, but it was a worthy sacrifice of my meagre funds. But like Arnie.........I'll be back, the law of averages states, that when all this current hideous weather calms down, we'll get a good spell.

When I first got a few trips under my belt, and gained a bit of confidence, I could not believe that I hadn't done this years previous. It is the most amazing thing to do on a good day, and you get to meet idiots like us, ha ha.

Thanks Kate, I can assure you they aren't always like this, there are times when it's too rough to get the camera out. But in the main, I'm a fair weather Paddler, don't like the rough stuff, others like it, but I much prefer the calm peaceful stuff, it chills the soul.

Yeah no worries there, one of the advantages of being a bit Chav, is, one can't afford these waterside properties, ha ha. It was actually far wetter in my area Autumn 2012, up to Christmas, believe it or not. I'm not near any rivers, and 18miles inland, so no worries there. How is it down your end? (Oo-err) are you keeping your head above the Oggin?

hello thanks for your great vids of your kayaking , im down there next week so will be spending a fair bit of time on the water , im interested in the odd wild camp is it possible on the south west side , again cheers and keep the great vids coming.all the best Darren.
@GBPaddling10 жыл бұрын
Hi Darren, wild camping is ALWAYS possible. It's just a case of finding a safe landing spot, just beware of landing in a place that changes at different states of tide. We've landed in places at high water, only for the tide to drop, and expose a inhospitable boulder field.
@gkarjala9 жыл бұрын
+GBPaddling Hey, did they let you camp at the "Welcome to Freshwater"? Whats the story? i know it's another vid so let this direct the viewers to "Overnight Isle of Wight" prts 1+2

Hi Frank love the videos. Just wondering have you ever paddled east of Lizard, around Cadgwidth and Coverack?
@GBPaddling6 жыл бұрын
Thanks Harry, sadly the answer is no. Parking is obviously an issue, as it is anywhere these days, at the time of this video, the National Trust wanted £6.50 off me to drive my VAN to Kynance Cove car park.........what a fecking cheek, honestly I grieve for this Country of ours, all is lost, it is just a matter of time. Maybe you could put in at Porthoustock? it's been a while since I went there, and I'm pretty sure there'll be shillings to be handed over, but it's all a matter of what is acceptable to oneself?
@GBPaddling6 жыл бұрын
Kennack Sands used to be a good place to launch, but that was all double yellow lines when I last visited. I am pretty sure that Mullion to The Lizard is the best paddle down this area, but I am always open minded about these things.
@harrygribble21356 жыл бұрын
Yes you are right kennack sands is all double yellows now. There is parking at the top of church cove just east of Lizard village which could be useful.
