Sea Kayaking on the Isle of Mull - May 2019

It is a my favourite place to be, is the South Coast of Mull Mull has got a lot busier over the years since we first visited in 2006 after watching Gordon Buchanan's Eagle Island and his trip out in a Sea Kayak filming Wildlife made me think I'd love to explore like that too. We go every year with the exception of 2020, the last two years I have taken a sit on top as I tried a Friends kayak 2 years before that, but know want to add a Sea Kayak to that so I can go farther along the coast in either direction for were you Launched from. There is a chap that is based from just up the road that runs Kayaking trips. for a pretty decent price for the day. I did have the urge to paddle over to Colonsay as it looked close enough to paddle, just not on my sit on top. So played in the surf mainly getting thrown off as I had never tried it before. Loved it. which has sparked once again the want to get a Sea Kayak.

Nice videos. What spots on Mull would you recommend to make Kayak with kids (5 and 6 years old)? We have inflatable kayaks and will be in Mull in August 2019.

shamekenya if the wind is calm, you could have a paddle around this beach we launched from. Map in the video!

How much would a sea kayak start at and how much training is required. Looks great.

Hi Rob, a second had plastic sea kayak might be £300-£500, paddle £50-100, clothing and Flotation device needed too. I recommend getting training, learning about weather, tides, dangers and how to call for help. Practicing rescues with a friend is very valuable. Check out what training is available where you live and get booked on a course, you’ll enjoy it.

Are any of these cheap inflatables any good? I've done sea kayaking quite a few times now and I'd be cool to have one in the motorhome for calm days. Any recommendations for a 1 seater under 500 squid? Intex k1 is like only 70quid...and seems like ok for just pootering about coast or lochs?

powerlord69 theyvare okay for short paddles inshore, but are very affected by wind I would guess. They will be slow compared to a proper kayak.

@@StuartSutherland-1 was looking at k1. 70 quid but has a keel. I mean yeh it's no kayak but there's no room on the motorhome fer a kayak I'm afraid.
