Useful tip: When exiting your boat to get to an Island (or to get to an enemy pirates ship) instead of swimming you can do this trick: jump onto the edge of the ship then pull out your sword, guard, then use your charge attack, and right before your character lunges jump for a huge boost of momentum in the sea. It really helps with getting from location to location

as a pirate legend, welcome. do not trust any man on the seas. but a sliver tounge will be very helpful on your journeys. for example: me and a friend were clearing a fort of fortune and sank a Brig. i was Spawncamping them for 2 minutes and their Ship Sank. then, another sloop approaches and we pull them away from the fort for a fight. then the brigantine dives up right next to the sloop we are fighting and starts shooting at them. unbenounced to us, that brig was the same one i just sank. after they sank the other sloop i went over on a rowboat and started negotiating and got an agreement with them. only after we founded an alliance did we recognize eachother after a laugh and a gg, our enemies were now our allies. ALWAYS, try to let your silver tounge convince the enemy. and if that don't work, use a gun. ALSO: the best spot to store Kegs is on another players ship with a lit fuse. never leave one on your own ship.

This game is honestly so magical. I remember when I was 12 years old, which I first picked this game up. I originally joined a crew with a bunch of older adults who treated me like wasted trash. I decided to stay because they were pretty powerful, but as I spent time with them, I grew with them like a pirate on the crew. Our last moment together was sitting on a rock, on this small little island, where we watched the sunset after raiding so many vessals. It was beautiful, and I would’ve chose to hate the group, to only find my companionship with these scallywaggers again any day.

Some tips for new players: Dont keep yourself anchored instead raise all your sails as you come into a island or drop the anchor, raise the sails and then raise the anchor. This lets you make a quick getaway incase of trouble and saves you from having to raise the anchor if you get ambushed Once you get level 15 in any faction you can buy the right to use a emissary flag for that faction. This lets you get up to a 2.5x gold and exp bonus for loot from that faction depending on its rank which increases by getting that factions loot on your ship However be mindful that tier 5 reapers emissary's can see all other emissary ships on their map so it comes with risks If your playing with friends try and give certain people rolls on the ship like a captain to steer, someone to bucket water and repair, someone to shoot cannons and someone who does whatever is needed in the moment As for the ships the fewer sails a ship has the more maneuverable they are and faster when going against the wind but the more sails means your faster with the wind at the cost of maneuverability Sloop is a good place to learn the basics but dont ever try and go solo on a galleon as many things like the anchor and sails and designed to be used by multiple people and are really slow solo Lastly as for weapons cutless are consistent and gives alot of mobility however if your feeling daring you could try and use double guns which is best for pvp but takes more skill to be effective with 1 last tip if you see a mermaid in the water and none of your teammates are in the water then it is someone elses mermaid and that person is most likely trying to board you so watch the ladders and dont let them on board or they could drop your anchor and immobilise you for awhile

Started playing this game last weekend and my only words be: ARRRRR HOIST THE ANCHOR AND SET SAIL FOR ADVENTURE

As a 4000 hrs + mostly solo player, I can confirm that the Game is great for solo as it is for playing with friends. While solo, its harder, but its not impossible to win against a 4 man galleon crew. And the best I like is, that everything is just cosmetic and that you, the player gets better, not the character youre playing with. And I LOVE fishing! "Legendary Hunter Of The Sea Of Thieves" was one of the hardest grinds I've ever had in a Game, but it was fun! A few tipps and tricks: - In Open Seas (High Seas) you dont have to drop your anchor most of the time. Just raise the sails, and the ship will stop. Thats because, if you drop the anchor, you will be most likely stuck in a pvp situation and your enemies, won't let you raise your anchor back up, if they are decent! - Waves in the game, always come from the Northwest. So if youre sailing towards NW or W/NW, the ship does a slight turn towards left or right, depending if youre sailing W/NW or a bit more Eastside. So keep your hands or hooks on the steering wheel, while sailing towards these directions :D - Banana heals 20%, Coconut 30%, Pomegranade 40%, Mango 50% and Pineapple 100% per bite - Small Shark, Pork, Snake and Chicken heals 50% per bite and give a 25% overheal bonus, that activates if youre wounded and dont take damage for 10 seconds. - Try to not eat fish. Just sell them at the seaposts for hunters call, or if you own a Captaincy Ship, sell them at the sovereigns. So you dont have to catch those fish in the future. And some rare fish, like the Shadowstormfish, can give you between 6k-20k + gold, if cooked perfectly. - Firebombs are very effective against skeletons and phantoms. In PvP, firebombs are effective agains Galleon Crews, because the fire expands very fast on the biggest ship and you cause more chaos when there are 4 people than just one or two guys on a sloop. - Blunderbombs deal 50% damage if directly hitting a player and knocks them from their spot. If you shoot blunderbombs with cannons on a ship, you can alter the direction the ship is sailing, towards the middle of the map (sea dogs tavern). So if a ship wants to ram yours, just use the blunderbomb, and hope it does its job :) Sea of Thieves has very much depth, and I am very happy, that you going to learn and explore more and more of this beautiful world, this game has to offer! tip for people who want some pvp practice: theres a game mode called hourglass, which is accessed from the quest table of your ship. There are two factions: the servants of the flame, which is the reapers faction, and the gaurdians of fortune, which is athenas faction. when you vote for it, you can be invaded by a ship of same size and crew size as you to fight with borders so you cannot run. once you sink their ship, you gain xp towards that faction and a streak begins. you can also vote to dive using the war map to invade and fight other crews. lowering your streak will give you even more xp, but if you sink once you will lose it. another way to get xp is to sell their flag, if it is a reaper flag or athena flag. as well as some amazing pvp practice, you can work towards 2 of the most prestigious and coolest curses in the game, the blessing of athenas fortune and the skeleton curse. if you choose to fight for the servants of the flame, you will get the skeleton curse once you reach level 100, and if you fight for the guardians of fortune, you will get the ghost curse once you reach level 100. its a hell of a grind so be ready for it. the ghost curse will make your pirate look like the pirate lord or the phantoms around the sea of thieves, and the skeleton curse will turn you into a skeleton with tons of exclusive cosmetics and bone colors and types that are unlocked by getting commendations or more xp. (you can also become a golden skeleton or a golden ghost once you reach level 1000 for each, but few take that long grind.) hope this helps any ps5 players or new players, and keep in mind it will be difficult at first because the players on hourglass are usually pretty good, but it will help a ton in the long run (im now about to get the skeleton curse and i went from a 1/6 win ratio to about a 5/6 trust me you will get so much better at pvp.

Quick tp for new players this is a *PVPVE* game meaning at least on the high seas any player can attack any player, even when your in a "Alliance". Rare has failed to properly advertise this and I often find players who think that stealing, betraying, sinking, double gunning, boarding, and spawnkilling are breaking some rule. remember that *treasure is not yours until you sell it* Also side note imo reaching pirate legend is this games tutorial. *Welcome to the seas swabbies!*

This is one of my main games. I’m in the triple digits of days played and I’d recommend it to anyone. There are multiple phases you go through in this game as a person. As a swabbie you spend most your time dying by everything and everyone. Then you’ll eventually learn enough to want to be a pirate legend and grind it out. As a new Pirate legend you’ll start your pvp journey and die way too much until you get confident. Then the Hour Glass adventure starts, most people can’t finish this phase because you’ll realize you’re terrible at the game again. For the real lords of SOT they complete the HG phase and go back to the normal sees to find out they’re borderline cheating against normal people. I’m currently in this phase I have all the hard to get stuff and I spend most of my time teaching new players or pretending to be a new player. On rare occasions people try to pvp me and talk trash, to these people I spawn camp them until they quit or uninstall. In the end it sucks to suck😂. 10 out of 10 game

Most important thing you missed: World Events! They're the main way to level all companies, and you can even dive to them (although they'll have a different loot pool) after getting a high enough level in a company.

This game is by far one of my favorites, there's so much to do in the game I often times can't remember everything even with my playtime One thing I will say is the combat system, it is not as simple as it appears at first. The surface level mechanics are pretty easy to grasp but there are soo many tricks to it for people who want to put the time into learning it (none of it is super required if you just want a chill experience though). As you get more familiar with the combat it makes it feel much more rewarding, and fixes the sort of lacking feel of hand to hand combat especially if you learn to use a sword well or learn to double gun. Good luck to anyone trying this game out, there's something in this world for everyone to enjoy, just watch out for pirates!

I have to say the PvP aspect of the game was very cool because we did not have the klunky Gunplay in the start, there was a mechanic called "quick swap" which made the gunplay very satisfying And I as an formal Apex Player have to say that the movement in SOT is awesome. Useful tip: after reaching rank 15 in a trading company you can buy an emissary license for 20k gold. this is REALLY worth the money because you can get up to +150% gold/reputation on ALL your treasure (for that company).

Quick tip. Joining random crews can be either really fun or really annoying so if you can play with friends but if you can’t and you are bored then just have some fun, one time I joined a random crew and they insulted me and left. Another time I joined none of us spoke but we used text chat and we made about 300,000 in about an hour.

Welcome to the Sea of Thieves PS5, and New Players in general! Your 1st priority as a new Pirate should be to get your Factions to lvl 15. Then you can spend 20K each Faction to buy an Emissary License. This is your new best friend. You raise an Emissary Flag for a certain Faction and start to level the Flag, earning Gold Multipliers at each level, capped at 1.5x at level 5. So a 10K Item then gets an additional 1.5x (15K) added to the base. so you get 25K.

Hunters Call can be very lucrative if you know what you are doing but if you do see people fishing they are probably grinding achievements so it’s best to leave them alone since they won’t have anything but fish.

As many have pointed out: Keep your sails up to park instead of anchoring, but it is also important that you point your boat at open water. One thing is to PLEASE do not hate on the PVP. The game is supposed to be PVPVE, and I know that I am primarily a PVP player so I have my biases, but PLEASE do not get so mad when you are chased down or when you are sunk. Unless the enemy shows behaviors that lack civility, such as trolling, saying slurs, cussing, etc,... PVP in the game is not evil and you have to learn that there is always a chance to lose your progress. If you do not like that you are constantly sunk, then I supposed that is something you can improve on and reflect about. You do not need to sweat, nor tryhard in order to get good at the game. All that is needed is to accept the features of the game as is, be humble, and love what it has got to offer(as long as it is intended, of course). Many people got very good at the game without arenas or without hourglass, though definitely not as much as those that pvp in those modes often, they still are majorly better than probably 90% of the game. This is not for my sake, but it is for yours. I, and many others who pvp, could not care less about you disliking us sinking people. It is an integral part of the game that we love and enjoy. To hate it is to not accept the nature of the game. If you are sunk, learn why you sunk and try to get better. **Either way, keep a good attitude, because it is mostly to benefit you so that your gameplay is more enjoyable.**

As someone who has a love hate relationship with this game, its refreshing to hear that new players such as yourself are enjoying Sea of Thieves. With that said, Id love to point out some of my own pros and cons. The game has a very unique spin on the "press your luck" type of gameplay. You can stop and sell after one quest, or keep going and risk sinking and losing the loot. I also love the pirate theming of the game. There are very few games in the fantasy pirate genre, so this feels different compared to a lot of copy and paste arena shooters. Unfortunately, I have a LOT of problems with this game. Starting with the absolutely atrocious hit-registration. I know the devs are currently working for a solution, but hitting 5 shots in a row to not get a kill is very unrewarding. You can even notice hit-reg during navel fights with cannonballs or chainshots not correctly doing damage to the mast. And speaking of combat, it feels super clunky. I know you mentioned it in the video, but I hate the flow of combat in this game. Personally, the sword, in pvp situations, feels like an easy mode button. Just rush the person with the occasional sword hop to avoid getting 1 hit by a blunderbuss. Another option is using 2 guns, which I normally opt for. The before mentioned hit-reg makes it feel like not even a viable choice as you hit 2 shots, have to reload, and just get chopped up by a sword. It doesn't help that the reach and sprint reset from a sword feels a bit strong. At the end of the day, I just want to have fun while playing a video game, and SoT manages to do that around 30% of the time for me. This fully depends on your playstyle, however, as most of my complaints happen during the pvp encounters. I really hope that this game can flourish as it once did all those years ago.

Still remember that managed to accidently run into the kraken and megalodon while having like 200k or more worth of gold on our ship it was truly heartbreaking because the ship was sunk both times

before this game I had my wife+1 work mate on my friends list, now after playing this since ps5 launch I have 10+ people who ive had and continue to have amazingly fun adventures with. This game really is an experience worth having. For some of the clunky mechanics I can forgive the 7/10 rating but its maybe the best multiplayer game I have ever played. 10/10! aarrrr!

Tip for new players: This game can be very boring if you play by yourself; so try to get some friends to play with you. Most players are either really good at pvp or really bad. So the pvp isn’t very noob friendly, so be ready to get a bit mad

A tip to new players: DO NOT VOTE ON THE HOURGLASS ON YOUR QUEST TABLE. Voting it up signs you up for on-demand PvP, and ships can start randomly appearing to attack you. If you want to do on-demand PvP, the hourglass also has a diving functionality. Getting to level 100 in one of the two factions grants you a unique curse. For Guardians of Fortune, you can receive the Ghost Curse (By far my favorite), and for Servants of the Flame, you can receive the Skeleton Curse (Mid, underwhelming compared to the Ghost Curse).

Did you mean the other way around for the curses? The skeleton curse is far more detailed and customizable than a simple color reskin.
