Love love love sea to summit gear, being in Australia they are pretty common here. I use one of the Ember quilts as I can’t stand the restrictions of a sleeping bag. Enjoyed the review 👍

I dont like what KZbin has done to some of my favorite channels. Seems like there are far less videos on camping/"survival" gear these days. Great video.

Right. And instead there are a lot of unboxing videos of all sorts of stuff. Of course, if you can find happiness from looking at other people unwrapping a thing they might need, or not, , then by my guest. But I find it boring and pretty useless. Bring back real videos, like this combined with some nice shots of outdoor scenery. Kind regards.

04:23 - A ton of weight? The Thermarest NeoAir Xtherm weighs only 30 grams more and has an R-value of 5,7. The Exped DownMat UL Winter weighs 150 grams more and has an R-value of 7. Not a ton of weight in my opinion. The STS Ether Light is nice and thick for sure, but it didn't prevent me from touching the ground with my hips, even when fully inflated when I tested it in the store. The best thing however about Sea to Summit pads is their valve design. I give that a big thumbs up.

I just bought two of the Exped mat, the new version called Ultra 7R, one in regular and one long/wide. The regular weighs in at 460 gram. That is very light for a true R-value of 7, some say 7,1. I read 7 on the packing. They redid the vale to be double on this warm light series, so it's not double. Don't know why, as it was already working well. Could have save 10 - 15 grams. Anyway, as soon as you lie down on it, it's warm, and if you raise up and put your hand on it you can immediately feel the heat. I find their schnozzelbag working well. Two full bags, just by opening it and closing it, inflates my pad. Two bags for regular size. What is a bit disappointing, is the lifespan/warranty, which is only 5 years warranty. I found other brands offering lifetime warranty. We'll see over time, how it performs regarding to breaking down, delaminating or weldings etc. They somehow thought that the new plastic material ripstop something, is less slippery, so did not treat the surface with some antislip treatment, as the old version you refer to has, and that is quite dissapointing for me at least. More so as the importer in my country told me it doe shave anti slip treatment. But Exped wrote to me, that it doesn't. In all fairness it should be said, that the new surface is not that slippery. Double would be better in my humble view. Ultimately I chose this mat over the Therm-a-rest insulated and the Sea to Summit winter mat (the black one). So, in reality, it's quite light. Regular is 460 gram and long/wide is 710 gram on the specs and in real life, they are exactly that. That is very light for such R-value. Kind regards.

Warmest pad I've found for winter is the Lightspeed Outdoors on amazon. It's R 9.4 rated and is a very warm pad.. bulky but very warm and not bulky enough that you can't pack it in easily...
