This was a really great video. Showing the same concept across different throwers and focusing on the same concept throughout made it very easy to follow!

I've had your (I believe) quote to guide me: "Get on your front leg and (then) throw!". Short but packed. Your hips are not free when you're not on one leg, if you are on one leg, but not in balance, you also cannot throw correctly (timing will be off). If you manage that, then only thing left to do is to swing. Throw your arm, not with your arm!

Throw your arm, not with your arm has, for me, been the most important thing to really understand. You can have great posture, weight transfer, be nose down, and follow through well, but it you don't know how to turn your arm into a whip, none of it matters.

Such a good analysis, thanks Seabas. This came at a great time, I was watching the video of Bradley the other day and have been working on my own standstill. Good seeing you at match play last month at patapsco.

Is it a problem that Bradley turns his shoulders and hips together with little separation (called X Factor by Jim McLean in golf teaching)? Corey gets good separation between the amount his shoulders turn against his hips - like hip restriction.

I throw 73 mph/525+ standstill. I'd love to get your opinion if you ever have a chance. I'm pretty sure I'm up there in terms of stats, but would love to keep getting better!

Couple hours is kind of long session. My guess is you are stuck on your back leg. I’d recommend One Leg Drill and Elephant Walk, and I have a new drill coming soon.

Question for you, Mr. The Seabass! When I watch today's FPO field driving, I see a disturbing trend: a large portion of the field never getting completely off their back foot, and rotating on it for the smash. Can you think of any reason why this might be? We almost never ever see an MPO player fail to lift the rear foot completely. And if I fail to commit to the front foot, and lift the rear foot immediately, I really struggle to move into static balance at the end of the throwing motion.

Would you recommend pendulum backswing for new players? Easier transition from drills like elephant walk etc. Good stuff as always.
@seabas22

Thanks Kim! Yes, I think the pendulum is easier to learn.

Lucky and Brad turning there head early. Compared to Cory and yourself who are letting it happen naturally when the disc releases.

So if someone has a problem tipping over their brace when they are striding/shifting into the plant, is it likely they are not planting correctly with the foot? I've found that if I don't actively try to hit the inside of my plant foot on the ground first I end up shifting past my brace instead of into it. In the past, I'd fix it like Bradley does and just not shift my weight to stay balanced.
@seabas22
@seabas22 Жыл бұрын
Hey PJ, I think that is half the issue, it's a dynamic balance/motion pattern issue moving from one foot to the other foot. Bradley is stuck in a static balance between his feet and not really shifting or changing balance from one foot to the other foot.
@pjsb1
@pjsb1 Жыл бұрын
@@seabas22 So you both have to plant correctly and also shift your weight into the plant at the right time while being balanced with good posture?
