*Great lightweight shelter. **enjoyable.fishing** recommend it’s love how it blocks the light from outside. It was a pain to open the first time but now that it is broke in goes up easy..*

I just bought a x-over pro cabin and I love the side doors.No more stepping over your holes or electronics.The 1200 insulation is great you can heat it with a candle.Great review on the resort way to big gor me. Nice job

Michael Prevost How are you doing? I just bought the Otter XT Hideout, and I am unsure if I should return it do to sled size. I was wondering, what are your honest thoughts on the Otter XT Cabin. I am thinking about buying it, but I will almost always be pulling it by hand, it needs to be light enough to pull through deep snow

That was the funniest opening to a video of all time. Dude I laughed for 10 minutes straight. It looked like a honey I shrunk the kids clip. Great video

10-15 years ago, Otter did make one bigger sled; that sled measured 94"x42"x14". I don't think Otter sells that sled today; I do not see it listed on their site. They did not have a house for that sled; that sled was for utility use - firewood, hay for livestock, etc.; many uses. 94" long is 7' 10"; 42 inches wide is only 6 inches short of being 4 feet wide (basically the size of a 4'x8' sheet of plywood); that sled was big; I wish they still offered it. I know it was available in the year 2008. I bought two resorts then (purple) and I didn't think I'd have any use for the big sled; now, thinking back, I wish I would have purchased ten of those big sleds; lots of uses for those big sleds. Nice review. Yes, four years old already but it's still a good review. Good job.

"I made a mistake" - My very words when I bought my Otter Cabin! 😬 I thought the Cabin was already too big, I wonder what I'd say if I bought a Resort too!

I feel they should add a cover with that set, it's like getting a tent without a bag. also why so stingy on velcro, little tabs for holding the windows closed, what a joke, make them full length! and how about adding some wind tie downs other than only two.. and grommets at the skirt corners. small things to be sure, but if you want to say you are "the best" sometimes litte things mean alot.

Thanks for your honest advice. I have three huts and need something to pull behind my Polaris 1000 and flip open and fish. If you had to choose between the Lodge or the Resort, which one? I fish alone a lot.

Great review. I think I’ll get the Lodge, based on your review. You are probably very used to not having those side doors to appreciate them yet. Me, being a hub guy, and new to the flip overs, I can see the advantage. Hate the weight, but love the height (77” on the Lodge).
@timh82575 жыл бұрын
Matthew Maz Fishing Matt, I haven’t bought it yet. I will buy after this season when the sales begin. I had not planned on pulling it by hand, but will by ATV. My plan was just to use it for mid-to-late season, so the ice is safe for an ATV. Early and late season, I’ll use my hub (ugg).

I saw you on the ice last year and that thing is frigin huge in person, my next flip will be an otter but maybe something more manageable to pull from the truck and load but i agree these are the lexus of ice shacks.

Tossed between the lodge version of this and the Jason Mitchell Clam thermal x. I like the heavier 1200 denier of this vrs the 900 of the clam. As for you front skirt just sew in some velcro or some tarp eyelets from princes auto! Thanks for posting bro!

I just bought a otter lodge pro with the side doors and when I did hyfax I had 2 extra of everything. Also I wish the windows had Velcro to flip them down as that’s the only thing that get frost on em. The otter lights are awesome I have 4 and run them off a separate 12v 7.2ah batter that I made a battery holder and riveted to the sleigh very happy with it. Mine has one big aluminum bar down the middle of the sled and you have these plastic mounting things that they don’t move as much also

Not true. That’s why they have ice scratchers to lube the rollers, track and runners. And the minute there is snow with a quad you’ll be wishing you bought a snow mobile. I have both. Quads are slow, uncomfortable and dangerous on pressure cracks. I’d rather drive me snowmobile than my quad 90% of the time.
