I really enjoyed the assembly of this model. Seagull Models did a great job. This ARF was assembled in ~20 hours and was easy. It flies fantastic and the Saito 30cc fits perfectly with minimal modifications required. More flights and videos to come! Yes, I’ll practice the landings 😉! Also, the prop is a 17x8 not an 18x8, my mistake!

Very cool. What an awesome looking warbird. You can't beat a P-51D for style. 👍👍👍

17 Ibs seems heavy for a model this size. I bought one, just haven't assembled it yet. I'm going with a Dle 35. Nice looking plane.

Yes it’s heavy but it carries the weight well if you know what I mean. I’ve flown it in 15mph winds 30° crosswind and it handled it beautifully. I’m loving everything this plane

Can you tell me how you hooked your lights up on the wings? Mine just has a red and black wire. How do you hook these up to the receiver?

I didn't know you had a channel. It's been years! You still got that airline gig? Still in Texas? Dad still got the Cub?

@@thesearcherman6652 you gotta let me know who you are???

@@IllFlyIt- 3-4 years ago when you were flying the Phenom, I was the guy who 40+ years ago, rented the J3 your dad now owns when it was a rental aircraft at W69 for $8.00 hr. N7---H, I believe it was. I did not know until yesterday that you had another channel on You Tube after you left to fly 737's.

@@thesearcherman6652 Ah thanks for the refresher! Yes my dad still has that Cub. He still flies it regularly. It's not far from New Kent, it's down south a bit in Franklin FKN.

What did you replace the elevator rods with? Size? You said the ones that came with it are too short?
@IllFlyIt3 ай бұрын
I had some threaded rods in my shop (2-56) I think. Cut to length and used DuBro Solder Links on the cut ends.

Did you use the recommended throws for the flaps in the book?
@IllFlyItАй бұрын
I just went with what looks about right. I haven’t measured throws on any of my planes in years. Sorry I’m not much help

Started on mine, have a OS GF40 that I hope will fit. Mine will get a yellow spinner like the original plane. Did anyone get strings for servo cabels and LED in their wings. Mine where missing but I saw it was mentioned in the manual. And there should have been a pilot in the cockpit, will have to find a 3D print and make one.
@IllFlyIt4 ай бұрын
My wing had no strings for servos or lights. I had to use a fuel clunk on a string to get the wires ran through. Also no pilot was included with mine either. A few things to watch out for. My elevator pushrods were too short. They needed roughly another 10-15 mm to reach my servo arms when centered at 90 degrees. I don't know about the OS GF40 but on my Saito FG30B I had to relocate the throttle servo to the other side which involved cutting out a slot for the servo and using a DuBro flexible throttle cable. Double check your wing mounting dowels to make sure they're glued in securely.
