Hi Rudy, I'm French and... I really think that Magic is like wine. Every year, a millesime takes 3-5% increase, even the worst wine! Some rare wines, like rare/legendary cards, never stop increasing, but we even don't know if the wine is still good to drink. Be sure to keep the wine in bottle and to keep Magic cards sealed :) Best regards, like to watch your video and I start to buy sealed products but the Euro Market and prices are higher, so not so easy.

Exactly, while I work my butt off in a lab, my neighbors who have 6 adults not working ever in the last 3 years, yet can buy over $100 bushel of crabs, cars, a house, have food delivered to them for free, jeez. I would rather have them spend MY money they got on MTG to bolster my investment instead of then spend it on crabs and weed.

That was 2-3 months ago....I've been back to work since the end of May. But the unemployment was amazing!!!!! 600$ tax return, 1200$ stimulus check, plus I was bringing home around 1530$ (almost double what I bring home in two weeks from work) every two weeks on U/E. I bought quite a few 5$-40$ a piece singles, some collector packs from the last 3 sets and also some Modern Horizons packs. Also 3 out of the 4 Challenger Decks, all 5 Commander 2020 decks ect.ect. WHEW!!! And now here we are with Core 2021, Jumpstart and soon Double Masters. Good grief this is an expensive hobby. So far I have around 60 Commander decks, probably 5 decent Modern decks and 5 current meta Standard decks. Cheers!

I personally want to get into vintage, reserve list and sealed product over 5 years old. But I am so scared to spend my money because I have no idea of when is a good time to buy. Well.... interesting again. Collectibles, for the most part... I mean there was a strong market for both Pokemon and Magic. Kids in the 90's are now employed adults with decent disposable income, they got their extra $600 a week (complete BS, the unemployed flippin taco flipper at taco bell is making more than I do as a software engineer) and they have a craving to get back into the things they loved as a kid. What does all this mean... there's a large influx of cash into the "cardboard market" so to speak. For the reasons I just spoke about AND because any time there is market fear (justified or not....) people move away from traditional assets and start trying to "hedge". The kid on the corner has a newspaper shouting "Extra Extra, read all about it! Commander 2018 is going crazy! 1st Edition Base Set Pokemon skyrockets!" and people start pumping money into the market. FOMO. Let me grab some sealed cases, some commander bricks, collectors boxes and pokermans and uglios and keep em all sealed up and TO THE MOON BOYS! In all seriousness, there is going to be money to be made here. A lot of money has already been made here. But it's not quite the whole story. In the last 4 months, retro game prices (all facets... hardware and software) have gone crazy. Some specific things have stupidly shot up in value... but across the board the retro games market has seen serious returns in the past few months and I've been saying for 12-18 months that the market had to be peaking on what was a multi year (near decade long) bull run and then.... it doubles, out of nowhere. That's the pandemic, and "fear" of traditional assets, and FOMO of the hot asset classes. I saw bitcoin do a similar thing (although not tied to an overall market decline)... bitcoin was slow, slow, slow (but still percentage wise... crazy returns) and then it broke $100 and the FOMO kicked in, and it tanked to $15... and then it cracked to 3K and then crash to a few hundred... this constant yo yo. FOMO + sell offs + whales + maniuplation and so on. You see a lot of that in all asset classes. Maybe there was a few select individuals who had a large stake in the sealed commander 2018, and during this all have started suctioning off the available sealed supply (which is drops compared to what they have)... the market "notices" and now all of a sudden there's a 150% return. The biggest issue I have with it, and don't get me wrong... strong hands with large positions and deep pockets don't have this problem (lookin at you taco man)... the market swings are insane. Look at gold an silver. How often over the last 30 years have people shouted "GOLD AND SILVER" as a hedge or solution to something, or a well kept hidden investing secret. GET INTO SILVER BEFORE SHE MOONS BOYS! IT's NOT PROPERLY VALUED AGAINST GOLD! MOONLAMBO! Over some 15 year periods across the last 100 years... you could have either lost you rear end entirely... like you can't even afford a soggy taco out of a dumpster, or you could have made so much stupidly high returns that your wearin a monocle as you flaunt that double party taco pack and bagssss full of sauce packets. The average person.... they crap their pants at the hint of trouble. The real "pros", the investors.... the taco timmys... they can usually sweat it out, provided it doesn't get too bad. Gold was TERRIBLE for nearly the better part of the last 20 years... then the last 12 months come along and BOOM, crunchwrap supremes for everyone. P.S. Popsicle sticks....

I was kind of hoping he would mention something about the Mystery Booster Boxes. I bought three of them from my LGS because he was selling them at a steal. I opened one and still have the other two sealed. I was curious to see if I should keep them sealed as maybe they would be worth something significant someday? I would guess WOTC would make another edition of MYB so perhaps my boxes wouldn't really get much value.

I also dont understand the surprise when it comes to pricing expansion sets. They get more expensive with age thats just how it goes. The only set you can get pre RTR for under 200 a box is dark ascension. And as soon as people realize that and they start buying up whats left of it, that set too, will increase in price.
