Sea Lemon taught me the coptic stitch binding years ago by watching her videos like Netflix. Haha! That was 6 years ago. Because of her help, now, I am selling handmade notebooks. Thank you so much for sharing your skills with us. Keep going. You're doing a great job. :)

This is the first type of stitch that I learned when I started bookbinding a few years ago, with case binding. It never occurred to me that I could also leave the binding exposed!

I'm so grateful to you Sea Lemon. I remember back in 2017 when I found your video on japanese stab binding and your River Song journal, and decided to give it a go with no bookbinding experience. Little did I know that many years later, after watching so many of your lovely and detailed tutorials, that not only would I come to love bookbinding, but that I would be preparing to open a small handmade business with bookbinding in a month's time. Thank-you so much for sharing your wisdom and inspiration, and for giving me positive bookbinding memories. Every journal I have made from that first River Song journal (I've made 3 iterations as of now, and one is my recipe book!) till now for myself and loved ones I look upon with happiness. You're awesome, keep going!!!

Your videos are A+ excellent. Your voice is clear and pleasant to listen to. There is absolutely no extraneous chit chat which I really appreciate. Your instructions are very clear and pair perfectly with the video portion. You encourage viewers to adapt as necessary to meet their needs. The length of your videos is perfect - long enough for thorough instruction but never slow or dragging. Giant kudos to you. I watch many art instruction videos and I would put yours at the very top for all quality points.

I really love this Jennifer. I have done French link stitching for a while now but hadn’t worked out how *not* to attach the covers Coptic stitch style. This is fab! I just made a sketchbook using your Tom Riddle video so I am good for a while but I’m definitely trying this video next, with ribbons under the stitches 😍

I've sewn 3 of these books and each time I have the same problem. The last 2 signatures are loose and move around. I tried a double kettle stitch on the last hole but what else can I do? And thanks for all your great videos. I've been so inspired by them.

I have a question about adding new thread. I will be using just regular sewing thread when I do this. Can i treat tying it off like I would if I were doing a kettle stitch? Like tie a knot on the inside and then pull the knot to the outside and start in the same binding hole? I'll be putting a case on the book I am doing. Or would you just recommend I do what you showed here?

Hi Jennifer, that's a neat stitch, these fancy bindings remind me of embroidery. I have a question, since the holes made with the awl through the paper is a raw edge of paper, do you ever find over time and use of the journal that the binding holes become larger or cause the pages to rip or fall out? if so, what do you recommend to keep that from happening, thanks, ljc

Hi! Lovely video as always! I've used your coptic stitch tutorial to make 2 books already! I was wondering if you have any suggestions for an UNWAXED linen thread? I got into bookbinding so I can make my own watercolor journals and I would prefer unwaxed thread because if I accidentally get the wax on my watercolor paper while binding, it'll repel water when I try to paint in the book in the future. I looked at your Amazon list and a couple of your other links, but I only saw waxed linen thread. Do you have any recommendations? (I'm in the US and would prefer to buy in the US because of shipping times and costs.)
