@mertc8050 Jep, she can get a 8,9 km concealment which is 700m better than for example Atlanta (9,6km). Since your Raidar is also 8,5km you will catch destroyers really easily off guard since they probably can not turn in time. 400m is way too little to disengage if you have to make a 180° turn. Also her AA is not that bad, it she is for example better than Helena (without def AA): B: 90dps + 3 flak at 5,8km vs H: 77dps + 2 flak at 5,8km B: 256dps at 3,5km; H 200dps at 3,5km H: 133dps at 2km Nice that I was able to buy this ship when she was released. I nearly did bought her since I already owned a smoke CL called Kutuzov. ^^

HE did start out with "take a tier 7 cruiser". Her sister ship is the Tier 8 tech line Edinburgh. Remove the heal, and torps, add HE, add smoke AND radar (Edinburgh can choose either smoke OR radar). Playing the Belfast, I find the lack of torps is not too bad (I started out with US cruisers), but the lack of a British heal is a much larger nerf.

I have all of the ships on this list. However the one rare premium ship I don't have and that you can't get in the armory, super containers or even the Santa containers that I want is the Somers. They had removed her from the armory just before I had enough steel to get her.

Kamikaze R is my favourite ship. I got her when the original event was going. Back then, tier 5-8 were the popular tiers to play. Tier 10 matches were a ghost town. You could be waiting a long time to get into a match and when you did, it was sometimes a weird matchmaking. I'm lucky enough to have been playing since Alpha, so I have every rare ship in the game. The Imperator Nikolai I is a Tier 4 premium which is extremely rare. Back in the day she slapped you hard, even at tier 5. Those were good days. The toxicity today was as rare as some of these ships back then.

Interesting that there was no Alaska, Georgia, Giulio Cesare, or Lenin. Don’t get me wrong, all but #5 are strong even today but so are the ones I just mentioned. The only one I have on this list is the Kamikaze R and she is definitely a mean ship! Enjoy the videos and keep up the good work!

I got the Kronshtadt and Musashi at about the same time. The Kronshtadt for free XP, and the Musashi for coal. Even when it first came out, the Kronshtadt did not seem that impressive, but I am a co-op main, which may color my impressions of ships. The guns are nice, but it is not the Alaska. In co-op, the Musashi is an odd experience. The bots prioritize targets based on how quickly they can kill it, so, between the protection and large health pool of the Musashi, [hyperbole] you can get more spotting assist damage than potential damage [\hyperbole], as the bots are unlikely to shoot at it, if any other targets are available. This does make it a fun ship for Asymmetric battles. To get up to five rare ships, the next one that I will mention is the Giulio Cesare, which may have been a 'thank you' for returning to the game as I had not logged in for several months and discovered the GC in my port, along with a small amount of doubloons and a pile of free XP. As I am not the greatest player, I am still not sure what the hype for this ship is all about. The next ship is the Kutuzov, which was my first tier VIII ship. I used it to play the "Cherry Blossom" op and only managed to not die, but this trivial feat did earn the team the achievement for completing the op with no casualties, so I did contribute to the team's success. I missed out on the Missouri, but I did have the 375,000 free XP to get the Nelson. The Nelson is a bit slow (I thought that it was really slow, but I had not started grinding the US BB line, at the time), but it was fun. This was before the commander rework, so the IFHE skill gave the Nelson a fire chance of 44% and an HE pen of 132 mm. I was scoring citadel hits on light cruisers and setting them on fire. I have achieved the Nelson trifecta of the Nelson, with the Azure Lane Nelson camo skin, commanded by Azure Lane ship girl Nelson, with 21 skill points. The Nelson has languished a bit, in port, since getting Thunderer, but she still has her charms.

Odd thing about the impossible to get Belfast. When you install the game in at least the UK this ship is one of the main ones listed in all the marketing videos that the game client plays during installation.

I have trained at least 7 IJN commanders in the Kami to Skill level 19-21, they actually have their own club and meet often to drink sake and remanence about old times. Good video SLM 😀

You know when the Kami (R) was introduced, that it was a downgraded Minekaze. The Minekaze was faster, had better AA (a rifle, rather than a pistol!!), and had access to slow 10km torps. Then the torp nerf happened, they removed the slow 10km torps, and reduced the speed of the short range torps to match the old 10km torps. The Kami (being a defacto premium did not suffer from the torp nerf), and thus became superior to the Minekaze for that reason (it's still slower and has marginally worse AA). I still have most of my games in the Minekaze, though the Kami is catching up - together they account for 50% more games than my next most played ship.

@@neilharbott8394 Excellent history!! I vaguely recall some of what you said. I rarely ever shot down a plane in the Kami; thus, during attacks from CVs it is difficult to fulfill my mission. I use to joke with my teammates my crew on the Kami shot down more low flying planes by throwing potatoes at the cockpits that the tiny AA guns it was equipped with.

I got all of them except for the Benham (missed out that event), got them when they were released so did not break the bank for them. The Kronstat was never really good, at least for me, it was fun slapping BBs who were still used to come broadside on to cruisers and blowing them out of the water. Or charging down a cruiser in smoke with Radar on and the big guns firing. The Belfast was and is a great ship, still like to play it. If you can get it on a flank, pop smoke and just sit there and farm you can get crazy amounts of damage. Was my favorite ship to play in the operation where you escort the convoy to the enemy base. Run down one side kill all transports, then get in the harbor smoke up and kill anything that gets spotted by the team. Funny I did not play the Kamikaze when I first got it, it was before the japanese destroyer rework, the Minekaze was at that time as good as the Kamikaze. I just started playing it after they nerfed the DD line. Yes it is a disgustingly good ship, but nowadays if you get uptiered in tier6 it can be a real pain with CCs and subs, negating your stealth bonus. Also do not underestimate her guns, they turn and load slow but pack quite a punch, especially since down there people still think japanese DDs have no guns. :) So they try to move and dodge torpedoes that are not coming while you shoot them up :) Musashi was more a gimmick ship, never really a beast. During the time of the CC rework when there were no CCs it could work. Nowadays you can see her still in Tier IX ranked where are no CCs or subs. There she can work, her guns are still good and there are not so many ships to spam you with HE. But there are better choices (nearly very other BB :) ).

I opened ~100 santa containers this year through various acquisition methods. I really wanted Thunderer and Musashi. I didn't get either, but I did get Jean Bart and Alaska amongst a slew of other lower tier premiums. Still disappointed I didn't get either of the ones I actually wanted.

Ahh, Kutuzov is much rarer than the Musashi, because after the smoke-firing nerf, WG offered to buy it back from players. Musashi cost free XP, Kutuzov cost actual money.

Great list, the Belfast was the only ship I ever paid actual money for. Way over powered and a lot of fun. Won the kamikaze R during the event, and is one of my most fun and most played ships. Really wanted the Benham, but was working a lot and couldn’t play enough during the the event. 😢

Am I missing something? I thought that the Kronshtadt is the one super-heavy cruiser that does NOT get the battleship burn time. And compared to Stalingrad it trades the accuracy for a 25% longer radar, a DFAA skill that does twice the boost, and a spotting plane option if DFAA is not your jam. Also gets a much tighter turning radius, better torpedo protection, and 1.9km base conceal. Obviously Stalin is better with the accuracy and shell characteristics, but in a T9 slot Kron is still *very* strong

A Clan-Mate of mine loves his Kronshtadt. He's pretty damn good in it as well. When (IF) the gunners decide to put down the vodka and stop trolling, she slaps pretty hard. She's not too bad at tanking bow in, but weak sides. Certainly better than Azuma.

Kamikaze is such a sweet little ship. I don’t own one, but you know you are up against it when the other team does. Normally captained by Elite players too. Almost OP - but then when you manage to spot one - they die pretty quick. A lethal stealth ship - and worth of the focus it receives - if you can find the damn thing !!!

If you get up tiered into a Tier 7 match, you just watch your credits and XP climb. You have to be more careful these days with so many ships with radar and long range hydro, not to mention CVs and subs, but with careful timing, she can still hold her own.

The Kamikaze(R) will be captained by a competent player, because you had to work for that one. The sisters Kamikaze and Fujin were sold for dubloons (IIRC), and as such could be captained by wallet warriors (maybe). The Minekaze is almost as respectable, but as it's a tech ship, the player competency runs the gamut.

@@kaollachan The Minekaze has slower main battery rotation, with lower HE damage and fire. The torp reload is faster, but damage and speed are much reduced. It is 1.5kts faster, their AA is now identical effect (didn't use to be, before the carrier rework!). The major difference between them is the torps (Minekaze is deficient), anything else is marginal, and if you're testing your main battery Rate of Fire, you messed up big time!!

I have 4 of these 5 ships, all but the Benham, but I do have all 3 versions of the Kamikaze. This year, I've spent about $200 on Santa containers and so far, the ships I've received are: Maya, Tokachi, Ashitaka, Hyuga, Hill, Monaghan, Rochester, Makarov, Lazo, Poltava, K. Schonberg, London, Ark Royal, Bearn, Abruzzi, Mysore, Jurua, and Almte. Grau. A pretty good haul even if I haven't gotten one of the ships I've been trying for mainly. *Edit* After typing this comment, I bought $75 more of Santa containers and the Benham literally just dropped. Historical accuracy used to be a thing at Wargaming. Then it became about money. Got no problem with them needing to make money, they can't do it for free. But history matters. Maybe the fantasy was the lack of effective Soviet vessels in the period?

Get lutjens if youre going for the Schlieff. You can always come back for Kearsarge. I have kearsarge but dont like hybrid ships so it stays in dry dock for me

Kearsarge is a unique play style. The guns are amazing and the planes are nice to use. It takes damage easily so it works best when you stay back. Lutjens boosts the normal play style of secondary-build battleships with a 15% shorter reload in secondaries (after 100 hits.) I use him on Schlieffen, Kurfurst, Scharnhorst, and so on. So I think your decision is which would make you more happy: a stronger Schlieffen or a quirky US battleship. Whether you prefer to push or not.

I have both. I would pick Lutjens as he can be useful for many German ships (if you have them), and his bonus is easier to activate than most. You will get more for your investment than with Kearsarge.

Lütjens' skills are valuable on sooooo many ships, especially things like Mainz/München, Hindenburg, Schlieffen, DDs (esp ZF-6 if you have her), and most importantly, Mecklenburg. I've proc'd both of his talents in a single match on multiple occasions with that insane beast of a ship. Also, he's got some of the few commander skills that will proc in co-op and operations, if those are important to you.

I have the Kronshtadt and I think she is better than you present. I like her better than my Alaska - faster reload, longer radar (12 vs. 10 km), guns seem to hit harder, and armor seems better. The guns are very flat shooting making hitting targets easier, but the velocity is so high you do get many overpens. However, that also means that from mid distance you can citadel BB's. I also have the Belfast and concur with your remarks.

Minekaze is non prem Kamikaze, but 1,5knot faster, same torpedo config, range and reload. I desired to get Musashi, but as said, its AA is really weak, I remember doing 3 drops on her with german T8 low HP planes. Musashi is practically good training target for CVs. But it is not great with its detectability and pretty low maneuverability too, if you face Musashi, it's advisable avoid long range shooting fighting her and try close distance and make her pay for all last violence done on you by it. I remember my ranked w Agir, facing Musashi, I took rush through islands cover to her. When he spotted me, it was already too late. Single overpen to me, some ricochets on side cruiser armor, I trained my torp set on him, but switched to main guns. There was 10perc dmg buffs from Arms race on already, the guy got shotgunned by me at 500m for 6cit 60K dev strike, bye bye. People were taking Musashi to matches alot mainly after it being in Auction. It happened that total 3 Musashi were ranked (I think 6vs6 battle). Maybe they found their costy rare ship is not so rare and not alone to fight for its glory. There are many nice ships around, all tiers, classes, premium but also tree ships. No need to hope for luck to drop desired one or buy it for ton of cash. Musashi in brawls 1 vs 1? Fair fight? OK, my Minessota at 2km shooting, 2x3 cits to perfectly bow in Musashi, 1:0. Don't need her.

I still believe that SL needs a quick Honorable Mentions list before the number 1; ships considered for the list but not quite there. BTW, I have all the ships mentioned; and I agree that Kronstadt and Musashi have been power-crept way too much. After all, since they were introduced SuperShips have come to be; and they can be doubled up more than I have seen double topped.

How has musashi been powercrept its a t10 hull that still holds up in t10 and has 32mm overmatch with some of the highest alpha in the entire game all at t9

A ship is only 'rare' if it's in the rare ships list of Santa boxes which means WG is never gonna offer that ship for regular sale... and there are a few that aren't even in that list like the Nikolai, Iwalki Alpha and Arkansas Beta... as well as special variants of regular ships like the Alabama VL and ST.

1. I got the Kronshadt in Christmas Container, it's ok. The Petro, Stalingrad, Sevastopol are much superior ships and easier to grab. 2. Belfast is pretty good, don't like Brit ships much except Conqueror and Thunderer. 3. Kamikaze very fun for low-mid tier games, a good trainer ship for Torpedos. 4. Never played before. 5. I got the Musashi in a Christmas Container. My first kill from her was a Tier 6 Bayern, he got humbled real quick after taking first shots.

So was this list really the "Top 5" rare ships removed or should it have been the "Top 5" rare that "are not so good anymore"? I can think of removed ships that are "better" than most of the ships on this list. How about Alaska, Georgia, OG MIssouri, Smaland, Somers for example along with others.

Surprised the Alliance isnt in here. As it has a fundamentally game altering passive ability while being only given to some new players as a rent ship or permanently availible through only the santa containers up until this point.

@@aml1ma all subs have the same homing cutoff distance. But the alliance has that distance reduced by 50% which isnt part of any displayed stat and is a hidden core property. But just because you find subs boring or frustrating to play doesnt mean they dont have rare ships

@unowno123 one thing that I noticed is that the torpedoes have an insane fast reload time, about 30 secs. Maybe the fastest reload in the game?

@@aml1ma probably but i believe they also deal very low damage And their speed is terrible, so ships are easily able to outrun them. Its currently statisrically he worst tier 8 ship in the game. But all submarines are the lowest performing ships in the game.

Ah USS Benham. AKA "Why play Shimakaze". The grind was doable and the event fun, so not actually hard to get at the time. It is now my most played ship, with 1000+ games and 56%+ winrate. The secret is wide spreads and launching at anything and everything. Chuck them on the RPF marker at the start of the game, WASDing ships, shoot them as soon as they load if there is anything in range. The guns are for last resort only. Only potato Benham players waste time shooting their guns while in smoke. Keep the torps flying, which means keep moving. Most games I never use the guns or only use a few rounds.

I used the trade in to swap my Kronshdat for the Tirpitz , i hated that boat once you had the Moscow, There were the odd battle you went ok this is fun but with Alaska in port, its not getting used instead. Couple of thousand dollars to get Musashi , fn hell i would sell them my account for that.

I buy a few Santa containers every year plus my T10s. Last year got Big E (not a CV player), but this year picked up Caesar and Belfast. Haven't even played the former, and only 2 games in Belfast, but seems very strong. I still have about a half-dozen of "rare" ships I'd like to pick up, but Krondy ain't one of them. Smaland would be #1 on my list.

Kronstadt has 2nd highest win rating for t9 cruisers. Don't underestimate her or the players who own and sail her out. She will wreck you.

Odin and Nikolai I - I feel are more rare and rarely seen in-game these days.

Kinda makes sense. Not many people play below tier 5 so there is that for nikolai, and Odin is just a...very meh ship. You want a tier 8 german bb? Get tirpitz, she might not have hydro but she got way better guns and armour. Or you can get Bismarck, Brandenburg literally has the same guns odin has but 3 more, even anhalt would be more appealing

Where is Cesare? the single best T5 BB, the only ship I actively div up with T6s because she is a T6 in all but name, and the single best Italian BB (not a high bar to clear I know, but she clears it quite considerably),
