Glad I could help. What are you working on?

Nice job. How long did it take to firm up after applying?
@classicrewind27153 жыл бұрын
About an hour. It starts getting a skim coat after that, it is definitely workable for a while depending on what kind of finish you would like. You could go OEM standards. In some cases it is a lot thicker. Around your cowl panel, it would be approximately 3/16 thick if not more I think it cures in 72 hours. Or you could do custom, I did custom. I hope this helps, All the best

Great video and nice work! One of the types of seam sealers is not compatible with self etch primer if memory serves? Is it the 2k stuff?
@classicrewind27153 жыл бұрын
Hi, all I know is that the 3M seam sealer is the best on the market there is another brand called SEM if memory serves me correct. That is another top brand seam sealer. I have not heard any problems with self etching primer. The only thing I could think of is make sure there's enough curing time in between. I used etching primer as the base seam sealed and then Raptor coat.

Etching primer....or not? The containers say "Bare Metal Application", but you do like I always have, and primer with etch. Note: I would think that a Qt or gallon of etching primer is way cheaper than rattle cans. Unless, of course you have no spray gun. 2nd NOTE: Enter Harbor Freight.

I use etching primer to make sure that it is sealed properly, if you get a chance watch my other video, I coat the underside with Raptor coat. I work on my car a couple hours at a time so the rattle can is much easier for me to protect the bare metal from flash rusting. The car is going to get sanded down before paint. I do not paint professionally I know very little about mixing it with the proper ratios. I will end up doing my body work, metal work and then take it to get professionally painted. Thank you for commenting. All the best

Do u have any video of the finished cowl and windshield channel?
@classicrewind27154 жыл бұрын
Hi. this is the video where I get the windshield Channel. (Check out the link at the bottom). If you check out the very end of the video its finished not primed. I have a video coming out soon that shows you my progress on the GTO. There I go over a couple things that I've done to the GTO that wasn't long enough for a video. kzbin.info/www/bejne/pl6snXuoppyAr6c

Did u end up using the all metal after cleaning up the welds on the window channel?
@classicrewind27154 жыл бұрын
Hi. I did not use the all metal yet. There is some other areas that I am going to prep before I use it. The area between the quarter panel and the roof panel. I'm not going to use lead. I am going to use the all metal in that area as well I will be making a video of that.

3M states in the data sheet Not to use etching Primer! The residual acid will weaken the strength of the seam sealer.
@classicrewind27152 жыл бұрын
Thank you for leaving the comment. I did see that in 3m datasheet. I actually seem sealed it 24-hours after I used etching primer. it should have cured. I know it says residual. if you watch my other videos, I actually encapsulated the whole Underside with Raptor coat. it came out awesome. all the best
