I get that the film maker doesn't want to spoonfeed the answers to the audience, but there is a point where being neutral when there is a clear right and wrong is hurtful. Throughout the film he constantly lies to cherry, about where he lives, what she will be expected to do, why he is back in town it's very clear that he is the one manipulating her.
