I never understood "fearing" a basketball player? You're there to compete, so compete.
@bigbromcgee711825 күн бұрын
Not how it goes. You can still compete but have some level of fear towards your opponent who is actually SUPERIOR than any player on the league and/or on the floor. Doesn’t make you less of a man. You heard players say they were losing sleep knowing they have to play MJ.
@PoliticusRex63225 күн бұрын
@bigbromcgee7118 never got it. I couldn't sleep before big games either but it was never fear. It was nervous excitement. You only fear opponents when you are more worried about your image than getting the W.
@aaronhutchinson88525 күн бұрын
Never understood it either. But we've recently heard numerous players come out about other guys sitting out or getting what they call the Drose Flu when he was in his MVP season. I think the fear is around being embarrassed

Fearing a player in the basketball court means, you know that no matter what you do… that guy will kick your behind every single time and lose to them. It happens in all sports🥦
@PoliticusRex63225 күн бұрын
@joeyo5952 someday I'll explain to you the complexity of team sports.

He was a good defender too!

He's not afraid, but he always regretted the day he had to play Jordan. He probably told his family not to watch the beating he took from the GOAT.
@cycleoflife56525 күн бұрын
That’s the right attitude. Do your best to defend him and move on to the next game and next opponent.

Sean Eliot's reaction is probably the reaction of most, if not all, of the players who faced him. It's a damn team athletic competition. There are more pressing things in life.

Respect even more for him. He is a grown ass man, he shouldn't be afraid of another grown ass man.

That's bullshit, back then mfs were afraid of being on a poster.
@waynewayne969324 күн бұрын
That’s the right mentality. If anyone is curious they met 11 times and the record was 6-5 bulls. MJ averaged 36ppg, 7 rpg, 5 apg, and 3 steals. Elliot had decent stats vs MJ. 16 ppg, 3 rpg, 2 apg.

I respect this mind set, but MJ still cooked him thoroughly to the tune of 36 ppg 5 apg 7 rbg 3 spg & 0.6 bpg. However, I will say this about Sean; he wasn’t all a time player, but he was an all time role player. Dude was solid af. The Spurs had to undeniable role players that were damn good at their roles in Elliot & Bowens. Two straight dogs, so these comments by Sean is not surprising.

Bro EXACTLY! I never played past high school however i loved playing people better than me cause it brings out the best in you… Even if your best is like 10% of their best 😅😂
@SonicBoomC9824 күн бұрын
It was a fearful respect. They weren't afraid to go on the court. They just knew they had to be on the top of their game. They just knew not to give him extra motivation. A lot of them still wanted the challenge. The Bulls didn't even play the Spurs a lot in MJ's Prime. A lot of people lately seem to want to downplay the respect people had for MJ because they don't think people feel the same way about Lebron. No thinks that if they score 30 on Lebron, he will get 45 the next time they play.

That’s a guy who doesn’t care about getting embarrassed. That’s essentially what the fear is.

Jordan was great but he didn’t win anything for SEVEN years, until he sold a billion shoes and got Stern on his jock and absurd illegal defense rules that no longer exist, plus Phil Jackson( 5 more w/out Jordan) and Scottie Pippin
