If the UFC wanted to have an interim champ, then they should had canceled the Stipe fight and booked Jon and Aspinall. The other option was to strip Jon, like they did with Jiri and then with Hill, but that was not going to happen. The final option was to never have made the interim and wait for Jon to fight Stipe. They allowed Tom to be Interim champ knowing jj would not be fighting him right away
