I can't believe this wasn't mentioned very early on. That is a straight up phonebooth cage. The two amateur MMA fights I had in 2006/2007 were in bigger cages than that. That cage looks like it's about 12 feet from one side to the other. The smaller cage that the UFC uses for Apex cards and that they used back when they would go to smaller venues is 25 feet. I wish that one was the permanent cage used everywhere there's more finishes. Strikeforce used a 26' cage. Primary UFC cage is 30'

People should check out the full video at Anpo's channel. It's really neat to see. Lots of respect and the subtitles are pretty good, Anpo was very grateful and this gave him a lot of confidence that he was lacking. It was supposed to be kickboxing I think but he injured his shin. He's a good 180lbs here at 6', so like a Nate Diaz. Anpo said his face never looked that bad after a fight before. haha, Sean got a little sloppy at the end but he was just trying to smack the gloves away from Anpo's face. Sean was throwing heavy at times but you could see him back off. Anpo was in survival mode and digging deep with with hardest shots basically every round. Props to him. His movement looked great but Sean just has fighting dialed in so well. All the fat is trimmed in Sean's fighting..the way he pressures and keeps his back from the cage and conserves his stamina, nothing is wasted. Fighting to Sean is like mowing the lawn and sparring to him is like..vacuuming the carpet. Just a prediction, when Sean retires he'll have a TV show where he travels the world and spars fighters of different cultures.

@josephdover1982 ай бұрын
@@HiddenStr3ngth Strickland is in fact heavier than 200 pounds. Pretty much anyone fighting in the 185 division is over 200. You have 170 pounders that walk around that heavy. Huge talent from both guys. Sean's got quite the weight advantage on top of having the perfect style/build for great cardio.

Do you guys think Anpo going hard is bad sparring etiquette? I think when some “random” guy comes into a gym and asks to sparr one of the fighter, he can’t really expect to get a light sparr. I believe it’s not totally uncalled for, that Anpo put some power in his punches. But I’m interested in what you think.

Sean is known to spar quite hard even his teammate chris Curtis advises people to throw hard at him when sparring
@scottwall84192 ай бұрын
It's only bad sparring etiquette if the other guy isn't ok with it. Sparring is training and you just have to hash it out before hand. I'm assuming he is just compensating for size difference. Sean doesn't care

My hat's off to that young man he ain't no joke. That's some of the best boxing I've seen towards Sean

UFC needs a smaller cage like this one. Then we would see way more action every fight.

That's what fighting is, who can out last the other person, that's why stamina is so very important in a FIGHT, who can endure the struggle, and Strickland understands this. In a boxing match or MMA it's pretty much equal in the beginning, until whoever gets tired first, they will lose because they can no longer perform the technique correctly, their body can no longer "fight"

I'm not sure if regular people understand how heavy the punches are from a professional fighter, I spated a golden gloves guy and thought I was doing great until he knocked me out of the ring with one connect.. ur brain rattles when a professional connects, it's like nothing u have ever experienced... awesome vid
@victorythroughharmony112 ай бұрын
I understand why Anpo went hard.. Stricklands call out could easily have been perceived as disrespect. Maybe he'll think twice before calling out Japanese fighters again. PS The reason for Anpos poor cage awareness is probably because kickboxers usually fight in a ring.

It's funny seeing how easily people get offended. Anpo wasn't offended, they're literally laughing together at the beginning. Sean loves the hard sparring so I don't see that as an issue. I'm kind of surprised that he didn't throw harder.

Guys a stud, great showing, in probably the biggest opportunity of his career, in my opinion anyways. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him in the UFC, and I wouldn’t be surprised to learn that this footage lead to his signing. He’s a good fighter, he’s very talented, he has great skills and a great build for MMA, he has a build that could fight him at 145, 155, 170. I’d try to fight at 145 in the ufc if I were him, that division is wack, they need talent.
