tbf, Ivanov was in much better shape before he got stabbed (pierced heart and lung), was in a coma for 2 weeks and in the hospital for 3 months, lost like 60 pounds and had to pretty much rebuilt his body. He wasn't Cheick Kongo levels of built, but in decent shape back then.

With respect to Strickland and Magomedov, Chris Curtis gave some really good corner advice about doubling up shots and the openings and he was 100% right and Strickland caught the chin and he looked like he gassed more because he was rocked and trying to hold his shiz together. 🤷‍♂️

Elves Brener is someone to watch out for. 15-3 at 25 years old with 11 submissions and 2 TKOs including the one we just saw. If he improves his cardio and defense, he could be the next Charles Oliveira. He already has better wrestling and sweeps. And he still has time to improve.

while we don't have to pay attention to anyone who thinks michael chandler is far superior to guys like kutateladze and ismagulov, with fiziev losing to gaethje, guram losing to brenner, damir losing to dawson, and tsarukyan struggling early vs silva, should probably cool off on declaring these guys the top of the class. chandler got his spot by beating dan hooker and has somehow stayed in the top 5 (and i agree that he shouldn't be there and isn't on that level), but oliveira, poirier, and gaethje are all really good and have proved it multiple times over

If I may, I’d like to share some thoughts on Conor/Chandler TUF. It’s kind of embarrassing how Conor looks like the meme version of himself. Across all the fights, his coaching is “Beau’iful shoh’”, “Put le’ther in ‘im” and some other non-descript shit. Meanwhile we got to see the Bellator Chandler coaching of “settle”, which means essentially “blanket and suffocate people” which absolutely worked every single time. The other funny thing is how Conor tries to force his will on the format of the show and on the judges by complaining that the fights are not three rounders. Why not put your foot down with Dana BEFORE the show and demand three round fights? I understand why they are two rounds. What I don’t understand is why don’t you, as a coach, train your fighter SPECIFICALLY for two rounds? All the Chandler fighters were firing on all cylinders right from the start, so I guess they realized they needed to work within the constraints of that. Another thing, a shirt was a good look when Conor coached against Urijah. An ever changing three piece suit looks just goofy and horribly out of place. PS. It was great to see Timur Valiev go crazy for six minutes.

TUF sucks now and it won't get better until they actually bring on real prospects. For the past few seasons, TUF has just been a collection of 'meh' fighters who didn't show enough promise to just get straight up signed to the promotion. This is just made incredibly apparent in this season with the jobber UFC retirees absolutely smashing the prospects. It's not that the veterans are really good, the prospects just absolutely suck, there was that dude who couldn't even throw a straight punch to throw his life. TUF for the past few years has been these medicore guys battling it out for their chance to massively underperform in the UFC, hang around near the middle of the division with mixed/poor success to then eventually retire/get cut unceremoniously.

@@WtfIsLigmaOh absolutely. I was actually more interested in how Conor carried himself than anything. Gotta say, the show itself makes the fights moderately more interesting than some of the atrocious DWCS ones, which with no context are atrociously boring.

@@GKJusticar55 Yeah no absolutely agree with everything you said. Sorry, I realise my reply had nothing to do with what you said. I just saw you were bashing TUF and thought there's always room for one more when it comes to bashing TUF haha. I think it's only slightly more interesting than DWCS because of the dramatic slow motion shots of jabs that barely landed. DWCS can't even put in the effort to convince you that the fights are interesting.

slackmeister, i think guram just gassed tbh: he was a late booking and poured it out at the end of the round trying to elbow brener into the earth's core. he seemed to be in survival mode by the third and in the exchange immediately before the neck punch he got hit with an almighty body shot to which he reacted really really badly. suspect he was one good hit away from his body giving out and that last left was the clincher

even tho i am really happy about sean winning i must say i give abus the benefit of the doubt and say he wasn't all there and that probably wasn't his best form! we tend to asume that fighters are at 100% when they enter the cage but just like everyone of us a fighter can have a bad day, a headache, maybe even anxiety attack... it's always easy to see a fighter and say "he is just shit" but we actually never know what is going on with his body or mind. this gets even worse considering the "no excuses" culture MMA has developed, i also don't like fighters making excuses but if you actually have a excuse you also should be allowed to voice it! maybe abus has a bad gastank, but it is just as if not more plausible that he had a bad day! just for my egoistic hope of good fights in the future i will say this wasn't abus final form! :)
