I've watched so many videos... I keep putting little pieces together. This might not be a big deal to others that know more, but this video/exercise made something click where I began to see chords over the top of scale shapes without really thinking about it. I really and sincerely appreciate it.

I cannot believe how many hours I spend listening and re-listening to your videos. I was driving between service calls today and I think I spent 2.5 hours on various videos, new and already watched! Been playing (learning) for 3 years now. I am so not musical it's being absurd, but I have been doing what I can to learn. My instructor and I have been working on certain theory, and music reading (at my request) for a while. It just seems like I'm needing something to finally take this foundation I've gotten, and show me how to use it now! I gotta say, I think your videos have started to coallate all of my instructors knowledge and teaching. Digging it!

Hi Sean, In this video you show how the D Major shape is inside the Bminor pentatonic scale. If you have time, would you be able to show some more great tips on others chords that are inside other pentatonic shapes and how to find them etc. Thankyou so much, these are the things that are making guitar playing so much fun!
@metalfuryskulls3 жыл бұрын
If you learn your 5 pentatonic shapes and then learn CAGED pattern, you should be able to map it out. So looking at Pattern 1, there is the A Shape and the G shape chord. Pattern 2 has G and E shapes etc.

Great lesson. Really fun and easy reminds me of some of your earlier Hendrix tips. I really enjoyed your Fretboard Masterclass. It combined with your arpeggio with friends series really helped me spot notes quickly. The Ultimate Sean Daniels Masterclass would be you teaching people how to play solo guitar like you do so they can back up a vocalist (or another instrument) like you do at intermediate level. It should include a pointer to this video, because its great. Love your stuff.

I just built a guitar, I'm very mechanical inclined and use the winter to master new things. I'm left handed and built a right handed guitar because my right hand was broken a while back? I played in school both right and left (30 years ago). So I need to start playing again, so everybody quits looking at me sideways for randomly learning everything about guitars, buying an Ibenez, two amps, then building a Les Paul (styled guitar) and only knowing a couple Elvis lics?

This stuff is just great, perfect stepping stone for exploration. One small suggestion is if you can force fit some genre specific licks within the same theoretical context.
