Hi Sean, jw how did you schedule in DLAs? Did you do them before/after the lecture like the schedule says? Or did you do them on the weekends? Theres so many it seems really overwhelming
@SeanDarmal4 жыл бұрын
hahah yeah the DLAs were so much on top of the already busy schedule. I would just try to read through them once before the end of the weekend.. (usually all my catching up was done on the weekends,,, i would always be behind) and maybe one more time really really quick before the test. but I would put more emphasis on the main lectures of course. but try your best to get through the DLAs as well, at least once.

Currently applying to Carribean schools and would really like to go to medical school, but I'm perpetually in a state of self-doubt. I was glad to hear that it's common to feel that way. Also, that even if you've forgotten a lot of the science coursework or are unfamiliar with the subject matter, you can still succeed with hard work. Thank you for giving the subjects to review and the advice.

@SeanDarmal5 жыл бұрын
will esp hey man. Great question. Let me think about that. I can’t give an exact number. I don’t know who needed up finishing term 5 with me. So my number would be way off. I can roughly tell you that my class size in term 1 was 1200 ish. And by term 5 was about 900ish.?!!?
@TheMiluv4u5 жыл бұрын
@@SeanDarmal thank you for taking the time answer question.
@SeanDarmal5 жыл бұрын
Yeah man. Sorry for the late response. Oh and don’t forget. It’s not that that many people failed out of school. It’s mostly due to the fact that they had to repeat a term. So most likely they were just a term behind.

Hi, im trying to get into SGU but my GPA is not as strong, but im working on my clinical scientist license. Was it competitive to get in? I have clinical lab experience. Do they want more volunteer experience?
@SeanDarmal5 жыл бұрын
i would recommend applying with your current GPA. I do not think more hours will make a significantly huge change in your resume.. i was surprised i got accepted into SGU. so apply when youre ready to start that new chapter in your life. the whole application process goes by really quick.
@nikotijam41045 жыл бұрын
@@SeanDarmal what do they usually look for a prospective medical student?, as I said my undergrad was 2.9 and science gpa is 3.1 and my post a is 3.1, but I will be getting my clinical scientist license (kinda had been working on it) and still barely going to do a volunteering at this hospital (like my first time) what do they look for?

sure, in highschool i didnt really like school or learning, but i think my favorite subject was geometry. super random and yeah i wanted to become a doctor since i could remember! since a kid. in college i really noticed i like anything that was behavioral health and neurology. those really sparked my interest. Would you say the USMLE was similar to the MCAT? Was anything in medical school similar to the MCAT? It’s my Kryptonite.
@Stereotactic_Shwermaectomy5 жыл бұрын
Daniel San I second this, I’m so nervous of the so called correlation between them. I have a descent gpa and I’m an incoming SGU student, do you feel that the MCAT is a good representation of the boards?
@SeanDarmal5 жыл бұрын
I HATED MCAT. I did really bad on my MCAT (both times haha) ... med school is not like that. its just a lot of information and a fast pace. usmle is not like that either. its just really hard because it can cover any concept you've learned over the first 2 years of med school and it requires true understanding of the material. still MCAT was just a terrible test . so dont be too afraid if your MCAT isnt too good.
@SeanDarmal5 жыл бұрын
@@Stereotactic_Shwermaectomy Hey, look in my other reply. MCAT is completely different. i hated that test. i will make a video explaining more of this. thank you!

Hey bro, a video about your thoughts, opinion and experience about the MCAT and it’s correlation in medical school success would be awesome. I took the MCAT a second time with a minor improvement in score but it still isn’t competitive enough for US medical schools. My biggest worry in applying to Caribbean schools is failing out because I’m not “ready” since my MCAT scores are poor despite having a competitive GPA and lots of medical experience. Bro thanks for your informative and motivational videos and we all look forward to the next one.
