RC de Go is a legitimately good game! I didn’t know there was a whole series of de Go games, that’s interesting. I always appreciated that the game played itself straight as an RC racer without any gimmicks or video game stuff, even though it has a few silly bodies for some comic relief. Actual hidden gem.

This was a fantastic episode, with some games that I've always wondered about! For one thing, I remember being interested in Jurassic Park Warpath, but seeing the reviews shoot it down made me think that it was on the same level as Masters of Teras Kasi. I may have to give it a shot, now, given how you talked about ti. Also, I remember seeing the reviews for Spider back in '97 and really wanting to play it, but that never came to be. I'm not sure if it's my style at this point (I dunno, maybe? Maybe it needs a Rental for the Weekend out of fairness?), but just seeing it here brought back a wave of nostalgia. I am currently very busy, but watch and listen to KZbin videos when cooking, shaving or traveling. I have a spreadsheet with 30 games on each of several old video game platforms, which I intend to play when I have more free time, and in some cases as a way of practicing my Japanese. I chose the number 30 to try and limit the already sprawling list. As you can imagine, sticking to 30 for the PSX is extremely painful. My criteria for choosing a game are fairly arbitrary, but include whether it appeals to me aesthetically; whether I had a formative but unsatisfying or incomplete exposure to it as a child; whether it is the best in its series; whether it can be called unique (etc.). I discovered your channel with a full PSX list, pretty sure there was no game you could get me to add to my list (and thus dethrone an existing title). After watching all of your listed videos, you have pushed me to update it with six releases: Einhänder (deposing Final Fantasy Tactics); iS - internal section (I removed vib ribbon); Omega Boost (sorry, Rage Racer); Suzuki Bakuhatsu (over Gran Turismo 2); Kaze no NOTAM (which, as with Suzuki Bakuhatsu, I knew of, but had assumed was too limited to bother with; it won over Ehrgeiz); and Wipeout 3: Special Edition (though it only displaced Wipeout 2097).

YAY! Another volume of Obcure & Forgotten PS1 Games! Thank you so much for keeping making these! #1 Not bad, but yeah, the 3D isn't the best. Nice sprites though. #2 I remember this game from Defunct Games' videos of NEXT Gen 1 star reviews and that game also got just 1 star. I don't think it is that bad, but it still seems just *okay* to me (and I love dinosaurs and the fighting game genre is among my favourite video game genres). #3 Looks like a fun R/C cars game and I love the customization and that you can't win with your first car. I think that motivates one to get other parts and also to get better. Also...cats! #4 Interesting premise and some really ambient/atmospheric music. Just too bad you have to start at the beginning of a level again when you die. Imagine you die shortly before completing the level. Oof, the frustration. Also...cat!

This is such an addictive series. It's also a bit depressing though; I mean, just look at how many _entire genres_ aren't being made anymore. Now, you could understand big publishers not wanting to pursue some of these things (spider-based platformers for instance? Totally understandable that your EAs and Activsions would want nothing to do with those, lol), but it really is a bit of a shame that so many indie devs are just like, "I like MEtroidvania and Dark Souls. I will rip off Metroidvaniaa nd DarK Souls" and that's the limit of their creativity. It really is sad, but it means looking back at older games is still really valuable and thanks to your delivery and writing, very entertaining! I love how you're highlighting so much fascinating stuff with your videos! Having binged this whole series over the past few days, I've got a suggestion for you I haven't seen you do yet. Funcom's (YES, the adventure game people who did the Longest Journey, and the survival crafting nonsense people who did Conan and are doing Dune) racing game, Speed Punks. I believe it's called Speed Freaks over in Europe for ya though. I will say nothing more about it, because I don't want to paint your impressions either way, but if it is not on the wheel, please add it.

I have Yakuza 0 to thank for getting me into the culture of Game 3. I know that Europe and the US like their automobiles, but I feel like 80's Japan was on another level of loving their automobiles. The RC hobby went very hard at that time and it's a neat little cultural microcosm of Japan. I'm sure there were big RC enthusiasts in other places but there is something fascinating and special about the 80's Japanese Jazz Fusion music playing alongside the RC hobby, much like Initial D would come to marry the Eurobeat genre, it is a match made in heaven. I'd also like to talk about your reasonable complaint of "Few tracks and unlocking everything quickly." So I don't disagree with you that it's off-putting but in the game's defense I think a lot of the replayability for people into this hobby isn't going to simply be completing and winning the games, or meeting all the challenges, but they will be experimenting with parts and techniques until to get better and get their times lower in time trials or something similar. It's still a fair critique to say it goes by fast, but I think they were banking on most people playing this being obsessed hobbyists (also children) who would be easily entertained by self imposed challenges and what little is to offer to you or I would to them be a playground of possibilities.

Lot of variety in this new episode ! - BlockKids: Always loved the immediate fun of the arcade gameplay of breakouts game, but nearly all those games failed to maintain fun at long terms with repetitive gameplay. BlockKids at least tried something new, that seems insufficient, but hey I want to try this game. - Warpath Jurassic Park: Not a huge fan of fightinf games, but you convinced me to look after this game. Graphics looks really great and gameplay very arcady. Not a must have for me, but an interesting curiosity. Also, the first Jurassic Park movie is a masterpiece, the others are...let's say not interesting at all - RC de GO: Know this game just by name, but never played it. Actually looks pretty fun. A really good RC game is Buggy, with great gameplay ideas and a huge challenge, in 100% arcade style with power-ups Re-Volt, however I really didn't like it: it's just unplayable - Spider: I HATE Pandemonium for the reasons you mentionned in the video, but always been interested on playing Spider, I never associated it with Pandemonium gameplay style. Hope I'll get soon a copy of this game. Thanks for this video, hope see you soon for Japan Only video ! Take care

If it's not already on the list, I'd love to see Jade Cocoon on there. :)

To me mostly an unremarkable selection, but still kind of neat. Spider definitely the best one here. And again so close to my choice… that’s just my luck!

So many nice memories. I remember playing a demo of Spider. 😅 I have some suggestions for the wheel: BLAM! Machinehead Rapid Racer Rogue Trip: Vacation 2012 (NTSC only) Shadow Master Tunnel B1 Username is Mancubus 😅

Oh nice picks! I aim keep to keep it at one pick per person though, so if you wanted to pick one from the above which would you like to see most?

I want to add power shovel (from the DE GO! series) to the wheel! It's a PAL/JAP exclusive and it had its own controller (Like most of the series) pretty interesting game if you ask me!

Nice pick! Added for you now :)
