Labdanum absolute from perfumersworld is so refined and smooth, smells like honey and very high quality, they also have labdanum resin which is very mesterious and smells like a quality resin. I recommend buying from them. I bought 5 grams from each. lab absolute is quite easy to work with, I delute it in 5 ml of dpg: 50%. Lab resin is very thick and i think the best deluted in 10% concentration

Hi Sam, iv just discovered your channel and I have been interested in making a perfume since we lived on a farm in Portugal and I became obsessed with the smell of the Cistus all around us. So finding your channel and you interest in labdanum is amazing. I was hoping for some advice, I’d like to make a fragrance as close to the pure scent of Cistus as possible. This might sound stupid but would I then just use the ladbanum alone with Alcohol to achieve this? Thanks again for these amazing videos! Best Ebonie

I did a side by side comparison of both, both purchased from Perfumers Apprentice. I compared Ambreine (Natural) (Biolandes), with Albert Vieille Labdanum Clear Absolute P&N. They smell almost identical. The Albert Vieille Labdanum Clear Absolute P&N was preferred. The Albert Vieille was more regal and has a greater low to high on the olfactory spectrum.

Purchased my labdanum absolute from mystic moments and was pretty disappointed with it's smell, thought it was just me but having you clarify that you smelled something funky and card board like has made me want to change supplier. Will be sure to check out your web store as I really can't afford to buy my materials in bulk. Thanks for the info, your advice is much appreciated.

I'm glad I came across you & plan to see many more of your videos. Very few perfumers seem to work with natural materials these days. I'm a beginner perfumer interested in using essential oils and absolutes. I've a couple of questions. What happens if the bulk order is inferior to the sample they send? (Here in India, I can get a motorbike for the 1kg price, so spending that much is a huge deal for me.) And what brands would you recommend for the genuine stuff? (Of which I can buy like 50-100ml. 1kg is too much for me.)
@sammacer2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! If you make sure the sample is from the same batch as the bulk then it should smell exactly the same. As for manufacturers, I recommend roberted, patan Bertrand, IFF, givaudan, firmenich, capua, LMR… Usually you would but smaller quantities through a retailer such as perfumers apprentice
@danlightened2 жыл бұрын
@@sammacer Thanks thanks. Have you tried Plant Therapy, Eden's garden or Rocky mountain's essential oils? From all the articles, videos and reviews online, they seem to be genuine, good quality and well trusted. (They're definitely not huge B2B companies like IFF, givaudan etc.) My problem is, since I'm a beginner perfumer, I haven't tried various grades of oils. So even if I get a good one, I've no idea if they are good or bad.

Labdanum absolute is decently priced most of the time too so you can easily be picky and buy the best product you can find. I have one from Eden botanicals and then I have Hydrocarboresine. Next time I order from Perfumers Apprentice I'm getting one of the Labdanums they offer.

Hi there, thank you so much for all of your videos - they are full of much appreciated information! I LOVE Labdanum and make my own artisan absolute, because I am based in Cyprus and it grows in abundance here. My question is though, since you mention, and I know that for a fact, that Cyprus does produce Labdanum absolute and Cistus essential oil, who is/are the producers? I have been trying for a long time to find a local producer, because it doesn't make sense for me to purchase another country's Labdanum. I am interested in the Cistus essential oil mainly. It would be great, if you can share a manufacturer from Cyprus. Thank you once again!

I send you a greeting from Mexico.

I'm a huge fan of labdanum. I enjoy it in all the rose-leather-oud-saffron fragrances I'm currently wading my way through in order to find the elusive 'best in show'. I can't seem to nail it and fill the empty parking space in my fragrance garage. I find saffron can overwhelm the leather accord for me and just go far too metallic for my taste. Oud Safran by La Cloiserie is like this, oh so close yet so far away. Same with Temperantia by Memoize which is stunning but dissolves into basically water within an hour. No tenacity, no silage and no projection. I'm struggling with leather fragrances here. Love to hear what leathers other women who prefer masculine-leaning unisex fragrances enjoy. Cloaking them in syrupy sweet notes can go too far: Oud Baie Rose, Melodi d'Altai, Black Line and Absolute Aphrodisiac are all lovely sweet fragrances but a little cloying as leather-forward propositions. I'll keep hunting. Really pleased I stumbled upon your channel. Unsure why ye olde algorithm has never pulled you out of the sleeve and whacked you on my turntable for a spin before. Tsk tsk, for shame! Anyhow, here now, so thank you very much for your channel-- I'm off to watch your back catalogue now.

I don't have the resinoid so couldn't say. The resinoid is one step less refined than the absolute so maybe it would smell closer to the natural and have more impurities.
