Yes it offends me that these people (and I have much respect for them) think that those opposed to their theory are blinded by tradition. That is not the case. Archeologists have been exposing houses and buildings including David's palace in the location that Cornuke says is where both temples stood. And putting so much stock into Antonia Tower (how Josephus called it) as their main reason that the Temple didn't stand on the mount. BTW all the infrastructure that they claim that the Romans built; Antonia Tower and water aqueduct, were built years before by the Jews. And the Gihon spring business, building the temple on top of it brings it closer by 100 or 200m, but still way below. The Romans used Antonia Tower but they could have camped to the north, plenty of room there. BTW, Josephus says that the Romans undermined Antonia Tower and it collapsed. This whole thing is wishful thinking. The Jews don't believe them and would never build their next temple anywhere but on the temple mount. They are just adding to the Moslems claim that the Jews have no right to the temple mount, Jerusalem or Hebron.

@@guidetothebible It is because even though the man tried to give the property to King David, David knew everything must be paid for with a price, Our salvation cost Christ His blood. Why are many ignoring the fact that Titus used Fort Antonia as his base of operations on the day the temple was destroyed in the passage below? The Wars of the Jews, Book 6, Chapter 4 4. Now it is true that on this day the Jews were so weary, and under such consternation, that they refrained from any attacks. But on the next day they gathered their whole force together, and ran upon those that guarded the outward court of the temple very boldly, through the east gate, and this about the second hour of the day. These guards received that their attack with great bravery, and by covering themselves with their shields before, as if it were with a wall, they drew their squadron close together; yet was it evident that they could not abide there very long, but would be overborne by the multitude of those that sallied out upon them, and by the heat of their passion. However, Caesar seeing, from the tower of Antonia, that this squadron was likely to give way, he sent some chosen horsemen to support them. Hereupon the Jews found themselves not able to sustain their onset, and upon the slaughter of those in the forefront, many of the rest were put to flight. But as the Romans were going off, the Jews turned upon them, and fought them; and as those Romans came back upon them, they retreated again, until about the fifth hour of the day they were overborne, and shut themselves up in the inner [court of the] temple. 5. So Titus retired into the tower of Antonia, and resolved to storm the temple the next day, early in the morning, with his whole army, and to encamp round about the holy house. But as for that house, God had, for certain, long ago doomed it to the fire; and now that fatal day was come, according to the revolution of ages; it was the tenth day of the month Lous, [Ab,] upon which it was formerly burnt by the king of Babylon; although these flames took their rise from the Jews themselves, and were occasioned by them; for upon Titus’s retiring, the seditious lay still for a little while, and then attacked the Romans again, when those that guarded the holy house fought with those that quenched the fire that was burning the inner [court of the] temple; but these Romans put the Jews to flight, and proceeded as far as the holy house itself. At which time one of the soldiers, without staying for any orders, and without any concern or dread upon him at so great an undertaking, and being hurried on by a certain divine fury, snatched somewhat out of the materials that were on fire, and being lifted up by another soldier, he set fire to a golden window, through which there was a passage to the rooms that were round about the holy house, on the north side of it. As the flames went upward, the Jews made a great clamor, such as so mighty an affliction required, and ran together to prevent it; and now they spared not their lives any longer, nor suffered any thing to restrain their force, since that holy house was perishing, for whose sake it was that they kept such a guard about it. 6. And now a certain person came running to Titus, and told him of this fire, as he was resting himself in his tent after the last battle; whereupon he rose up in great haste, and, as he was, ran to the holy house, in order to have a stop put to the fire; after him followed all his commanders, and after them followed the several legions, in great astonishment; so there was a great clamor and tumult raised, as was natural upon the disorderly motion of so great an army. Then did Caesar, both by calling to the soldiers that were fighting, with a loud voice, and by giving a signal to them with his right hand, order them to quench the fire. But they did not hear what he said, though he spake so loud, having their ears already dimmed by a greater noise another way; nor did they attend to the signal he made with his hand neither, as still some of them were distracted with fighting, and others with passion. But as for the legions that came running thither, neither any persuasions nor any threatenings could restrain their violence, but each one’s own passion was his commander at this time; and as they were crowding into the temple together, many of them were trampled on by one another, while a great number fell among the ruins of the cloisters, which were still hot and smoking, and were destroyed in the same miserable way with those whom they had conquered; and when they were come near the holy house, they made as if they did not so much as hear Caesar’s orders to the contrary; but they encouraged those that were before them to set it on fire. As for the seditious, they were in too great distress already to afford their assistance [towards quenching the fire]; they were every where slain, and every where beaten; and as for a great part of the people, they were weak and without arms, and had their throats cut wherever they were caught. Now round about the altar lay dead bodies heaped one upon another, as at the steps

@@professorstein5855 The Roman historian Tacitus was a teenager during 70 AD. In section 12 below he said there was a spring of "never-failing water" in the temple. The Jews Book Five (1-13) of The Histories by Tacitus 11. So after encamping, as I have said, before the walls of Jerusalem, he paraded his legions in formation before the eyes of the enemy. The Jews, marshalled close under their walls, were in a position to venture further out if they were successful and had a place of refuge ready at hand in case of defeat. Titus sent against them cavalry and some cohorts in battle order, but the encounter was indecisive. Then the enemy gave ground, and for some days thereafter fought a succession of engagements just in front of the gates. Finally, repeated losses drove them behind the walls. The Romans then concentrated on an assault. After all, it seemed beneath them to wait for hunger to do its work on the enemy, and the troops actually asked to be allowed to risk their lives. Some did so because they had real courage, many from mere bravado and a desire for rewards. As for Titus, his imagination dwelt on Rome, wealth and pleasure: it would be long before these dreams were realized if Jerusalem were destined not to fall in the immediate future. But the city occupied a commanding position, and it had been reinforced by engineering works so massive that they might have rendered even a flat site impregnable. Two lofty hills were enclosed by walls skilfully staggered and forming re-entrant angles designed to expose the flank of an attacker. At the edge of the crags was a sharp drop, and a series of towers dominated the scene, 105 feet high where the rising ground helped, and 135 or 120 feet high on the lower contours. (19) These presented an impressive appearance, and to the distant observer seemed to be on a level. There were further walls inside around the palace, and a conspicuous landmark was the lofty castle of Antonia, so named by Herod in honour of Mark Antony. 12. The Temple was like a citadel and had its own walls, which had been even more laboriously and skilfully constructed than the rest. The porticoes around it constituted in themselves an excellent defensive position. To these advantages must be added a spring of never-failing water, chambers cut in the living rock, and tanks and cisterns for the storage of rainwater. Its builders had foreseen only too well that the strange practices of the Jews would lead to continual fighting. Hence everything was available for a siege, however long. Moreover, after Pompey's capture of Jerusalem, fear and experience taught them many lessons. So taking advantage of the money-grubbing instincts of the Claudian period, they purchased permission to fortify the city, and in the days of peace built walls meant for war. Already the home of a motley concourse, its population had been swollen by the fall of the other Jewish cities, for the most determined partisan leaders escaped to the capital, and thereby added to the turmoil. There were three different leaders and three armies. The long outer perimeter of the walls was held by Simon, the central part of the city by John, and the Temple by Eleazar. John and Simon could rely on numbers and equipment, Eleazar on his strategic position. But it was upon each other that they turned the weapons of battle, ambush and fire, and great stocks of corn went up in flames. Then John sent off a party of men, ostensibly to offer sacrifice but in reality to cut Eleazar and his followers to pieces, thus gaining possession of the Temple. Hence-forward, therefore, Jerusalem was divided between two factions, until, on the approach of the Romans, fighting the foreigner healed the breach between them.

@@guidetothebible Josephus reveals that the eastern cloister of the temple was built over the Cedron (Kedron) Valley. This reveals the true location of the temple. The Wars of the Jews Book 6, chapter 3, 1. BUT now the seditious that were in the temple did every day openly endeavor to beat off the soldiers that were upon the banks, and on the twenty-seventh day of the forenamed month [Panemus or Tamuz] contrived such a stratagem as this: They filled that part of the western cloister (14) which was between the beams, and the roof under them, with dry materials, as also with bitumen and pitch, and then retired from that place, as though they were tired with the pains they had taken; at which procedure of theirs, many of the most inconsiderate among the Romans, who were carried away with violent passions, followed hard after them as they were retiring, and applied ladders to the cloister, and got up to it suddenly; but the prudent part of them, when they understood this unaccountable retreat of the Jews, stood still where they were before. However, the cloister was full of those that were gone up the ladders; at which time the Jews set it all on fire; and as the flame burst out every where on the sudden, the Romans that were out of the danger were seized with a very great consternation, as were those that were in the midst of the danger in the utmost distress. So when they perceived themselves surrounded with the flames, some of them threw themselves down backwards into the city, and some among their enemies [in the temple]; as did many leap down to their own men, and broke their limbs to pieces; but a great number of those that were going to take these violent methods were prevented by the fire; though some prevented the fire by their own swords. However, the fire was on the sudden carried so far as to surround those who would have otherwise perished. As for Caesar himself, he could not, however, but commiserate those that thus perished, although they got up thither without any order for so doing, since there was no way of giving the many relief. Yet was this some comfort to those that were destroyed, that every body might see that person grieve, for whose sake they came to their end; for he cried out openly to them, and leaped up, and exhorted those that were about him to do their utmost to relieve them; So every one of them died cheerfully, as carrying along with him these words and this intention of Caesar as a sepulchral monument. Some there were indeed who retired into the wall of the cloister, which was broad, and were preserved out of the fire, but were then surrounded by the Jews; and although they made resistance against the Jews for a long time, yet were they wounded by them, and at length they all fell down dead. 2. At the last a young man among them, whose name was Longus, became a decoration to this sad affair, and while every one of them that perished were worthy of a memorial, this man appeared to deserve it beyond all the rest. Now the Jews admired this man for his courage, and were further desirous of having him slain; so they persuaded him to come down to them, upon security given him for his life. But Cornelius his brother persuaded him on the contrary, not to tarnish his own glory, nor that of the Roman army. He complied with this last advice, and lifting up his sword before both armies, he slew himself. Yet there was one Artorius among those surrounded by the fire who escaped by his subtlety; for when he had with a loud voice called to him Lucius, one of his fellow soldiers that lay with him in the same tent, and said to him, "I do leave thee heir of all I have, if thou wilt come and receive me." Upon this he came running to receive him readily; Artorius then threw himself down upon him, and saved his own life, while he that received him was dashed so vehemently against the stone pavement by the other’s weight, that he died immediately. This melancholy accident made the Romans sad for a while, but still it made them more upon their guard for the future, and was of advantage to them against the delusions of the Jews, by which they were greatly damaged through their unacquaintedness with the places, and with the nature of the inhabitants. Now this cloister was burnt down as far as John’s tower, which he built in the war he made against Simon over the gates that led to the Xystus. The Jews also cut off the rest of that cloister from the temple, after they had destroyed those that got up to it. But the next day the Romans burnt down the northern cloister entirely, as far as the east cloister, whose common angle joined to the valley that was called Cedron, and was built over it; on which account the depth was frightful. And this was the state of the temple at that time.

I like the theory, but I find it hard to reconcile that the South-Eastern wall of the actual temple foundation would have been 600ft-ish high as it protrudes into the Kidron valley. There then could be no Golden gate which Josephus stated that when looking East from the threshold of the Temple looked straight through the Eastern gate to the mount of Olives.
@kingndanorth4 жыл бұрын
I agree. I think this theory is interesting and it's always healthy to challenge the establishment every once in a while. However, I just don't see how it fits in the city of David. They have discovered King David's palace and part of it is where they say the Temple would have been. They make a big deal about needing room for 6,ooo Romans but what about the millions of Jewish pilgrims who came to the Temple each year?

If the so-called Temple Mount was actually the _base_ of Fort Antonia and a Roman temple of Jupiter, then Daniel 11:38 makes a lot of sense. "But in [al, Strong's 5921, "upon"] his estate [ken, Strong's 3653, "base"] shall he honour the God of forces [māuz, Strong's 4581, "fortresses"]: and a god whom his fathers knew not shall he honour with gold, and silver, and with precious stones, and pleasant things." Daniel 11:38 I'm no scholar, but the original Hebrew words suggests to me that he will honor a false god _upon_ the _base_ of a _Fortress_ (Antonia?). And the reference to "gold, and silver, and with precious stones, and pleasant things" sounds like he will use the Jewish temple items and garments made of gold, silver and gems, etc.

I always have enjoyed Chuck Missler. I enjoyed Cornuke's take on Sinai and the Ark. I see the necessity at time of valid sites. Most of the time in Israel we deal with areas, not exact sites. The current Temple Mount is predominantly Byzantine. And, ancient maps put the mount included with the City of David. The walls of the City of David that are being excavated are standing. This brings many questions: 1. What about the pinnacle stone that was found? 2. What about the foundation stone that is huge and the Temple mount excavations to the north? 3. The Eastern Gate that is there is above one found later. There is no Eastern Gate to the South. 4. What about the Southern Steps and all the ceremonial baths found? 5. Would the mount not have been a part of Zion? 6. What about the stones excavated from the Mount that are not indigenous to the area, some believed to be from the time of Solomon? 7. Walls in the City of David excavation have been found in tact. Would they not need to have been destroyed? Good theory, but like all positions, there are holes. It does not shake my faith at all to think it is not under the Dome of the Rock, but there are a lot of questions. We don't need to "go to seed" on things. Discussion is good. But the probability that the Mount was a part of the City of David and Zion is disregarded. Who knows, the Temple could have been at the Southern extreme of the Mount where the Mosque is today, which would be a compromise between theories. It still does not answer the current Temple Mount excavation findings.

If we use the Bible as our ultimate authority, it tells us clearly that the temple was not in the City of David, but upon Mt. Moriah, where the Temple Mount is today. David purchased the threshing floor from Araunah, the Jebusite 2 Samuel 24:24-25: However, the king said to Araunah, “No, but I will certainly buy it from you for a price; for I will not offer burnt offerings to the Lord my God that cost me nothing.” So David bought the threshing floor and the oxen for fifty shekels of silver. 25 Then David built there an altar to the Lord, and he offered burnt offerings and peace offerings. And the Lord responded to prayer for the land, and the plague was withdrawn from Israel. The Temple Solomon built was on Mt. Moriah. The City of David is not Mt. Moriah. 2 Chronicles 3:1-2: Then Solomon began to build the house of the Lord in Jerusalem on Mount Moriah, where the Lord had appeared to his father David, at the place that David had prepared on the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite. 2 He began to build on the second day in the second month of the fourth year of his reign. After Solomon built the temple, then he would bring up the Ark of the Covenant out of the City of David to the temple on Mt. Moriah 2 Chronicles 5:2: "Then Solomon assembled to Jerusalem the elders of Israel and all the heads of the tribes, the leaders of the fathers’ households of the sons of Israel, to bring up the ark of the covenant of the Lord out of the City of David, which is Zion." Then from this point on, the Ark of the Covenant would reside permanently in the temple that Solomon built, which is also referred to as the house of the Lord. 2 Chronicles 6:10-11 Solomon states: “Now the Lord has fulfilled His word which He spoke; for I have risen in place of my father David and sit on the throne of Israel, as the Lord [e]promised, and have built the house for the name of the Lord, the God of Israel. 11 There I have placed the ark in which is the covenant of the Lord, which He made with the sons of Israel.” These verses clearly state that the Ark of the Covenant was brought out of the City of David to be placed permanently in the House of the Lord that Solomon built upon Mt. Moriah.

There were three hills that were aligned north to south, Mount moriah, mount Ophel and mount Zion. Mount Zion is where the palace of David was. Mount Ophel sits in between two peaks and the perfect place for a threshing floor and the real location of the first temple. But the Macabees decided to level it after the grecians sacrificed pigs on it. It was unto its foundation stone as you can see at Gihon residences. There are two bridges that connects the Temple to Fort Antonia to bypass the Mount Moriah ritual baths where people wash and wait. You enter fort Antonia, go down the stairs wash and you go up again to the steps leading to the Temple. The colonnades bridges are level so roman soldiers can stop any sign of commotion or riots in the Temple area. The event in Acts 2:1 happened in that open air Mount Moriah where people were baptized after hearing Peter’s speech. No way you could fit thousands in an upper room. Also, Jews would not turn right to the Temple of Jupiter in fort Antonia. Gihon spring is a pulse spring or siphon spring. On a mountain near Jerusalem, there should be an pressure chamber where water fills up and there was an exit point at the bottom and it goes up just to a level before the top of the pressure chamber. At that point, all the water get siphoned downwards to the Gihon spring. That’s how Jesus healed a man waiting for that pulsing of water at the end of hezekiah’s tunnel that drains the Gihon spring.

+Scientific Discovery Channel The vision is not about food or animals. It is about people. Immediately after the vision Peter went to home of a gentile. Much of what Paul taught has been twisted in the interpretation. He never advocated breaking Torah, which never changes and was not done away with, as is usually taught.

+Robin Hardman But he advocated not being married to two husbands at the same time or you commit adultery and it is either Torah or Christ and you die to Torah I order to marry Christ. That is unmistakable. Romans 7:2-4New International Version (NIV) 2 For example, by law a married woman is bound to her husband as long as he is alive, but if her husband dies, she is released from the law that binds her to him. 3 So then, if she has sexual relations with another man while her husband is still alive, she is called an adulteress. But if her husband dies, she is released from that law and is not an adulteress if she marries another man. 4 So, my brothers and sisters, you also died to the law through the body of Christ, that you might belong to another, to him who was raised from the dead, in order that we might bear fruit for God.

+ Awurabena1 If you read The Holy Scriptures KJV and use other Bible versions for clarity you may or may not come to the conclusion of the truth... The TWO most important points here are that the CURSE of the Law has been done away with and NOT The Law! Our Heavenly Father and Saviour IS The LAW / TORAH become flesh! The "curse" of the Law being synonymous with DEATH. Read the story of Abram and the Covenant that our Heavenly Father and Saviour made with HIS people the descendants of Isaack. Consequently the Curse of the Law dictates that All of God's people should die for their transgression of The Law! Our Heavenly Father and Savour took on full responsibility for what Israel would do in the future, in HIS Great Love and Mercy our Heavenly Father and Saviour was to die to pay the price for OUR Transgression of The Law... But how is that possible!? Our Heavenly Father and Saviour is ALL Mighty, HE IS IMMORTAL He cannot die!! SOLUTION: He was born of a woman and became flesh, The Son of man, in order to pay the price for our transgressions HE DIED... according to The Covenant that HE made with Abram and his descendants.. AWESOME ISN'T IT.. WHEN YOU REALLY UNDERSTAND THE HOLY SCRIPTURES... QUIT trying to separate our Heavenly Father from The Son of Man THE SON WAS TOTALLY OBEDIENT TO THE FATHER!! Our Heavenly Father and Precious Saviour are ONE! Remember our Saviour said this as HE was ascending: "I and The Father are ONE" .. Echad! John 10:30 Quit listening to gossip ! Study THE WHOLE BIBLE NOT just Paul's letters! The Law that Paul is talking about is the oral law of the babylonian talmud...The law of the pharisee ! Our Heavenly Father and Saviour was battling the RELIGION of His day! Religion has NOTHING to do with our Heavenly Father and Saviour HE did not come to earth and create a religion.. MAN created religion! READ your Holy Bible KJV using The Torah and Ta'anak online as well as the Orthodox Jewish Bible which has the New Testament / Ha Brit Chadasha! IT IS A LIE that the "Jews" don't believe in our Messiah it's just that HIS Name The Name above ALL names cannot be what you think it is because Hebrew has NO (j) in it neither does the greek and our Saviour would NOT have a greek / latin suffix in His name nor His title! He was of the Tribe of Yehudah!!! The Lion of Yehudah!! DO NOT CONFUSE MY MESSAGE WITH ANY ORGANIZED GROUP OR RELIGION I JUST STUDY THE HOLY SCRIPTURES THAT"S ALL ... IF I AM IN ERROR SOMEONE WILL CORRECT ME ... IF I AM NOT IN ERROR THEN YOU SHOULD CONSIDER WHAT I SAID... I SAY THIS ONLY TO BE FAIR AND NOT BECAUSE I AM IN DOUBT>>> I am quite certain of what I just wrote...

the temple was built in the city of David according to scripture 2 Chronicles 3:1 & 2 Sam 24:21. NOT ON THE SO CALLED TEMPLE MOUNT ( Haram al shariff, where the Dome of The Rock is)AS THIS WAS the Roman Fortress Antonia! Going on the Jewish Holy feast days in correlation with the Work of Christ, the 3rd temple will need to be built by 4th Oct as Sukkot is a pilgrimage to the Temple at Jerusalem and falls on this day. But also the rapture of The Church will need to be on Ros Hashanah evening of 20th to 22nd Sept ! AND since Christ made atonement for us on the Passover day exactly and was buried and in the 'grave' during Pesach then the Holy Spirit came on the exact day of Shavuot. So why should it not be that Christ come for his bride on Ros Hashanah which will culminate in Yom Kipper ( where The Jews will repent and recognise Christ Jesus as the Messiah ) and make their pilgrimage on Sukkot to celebrate Christ as King of Kings ( 2nd coming and setting up his earthy reign.

This book is really bad scholarship and lack of knowledge of temple functions. They have no understanding of the underground chambers discovered by Sir Charles Warren, Wilson, Conrad Shick and clearly tells us that there were huge under ground cisterns that provided water for the Temple Mount. Plus this person does not address solomons pools south of Jerusalem in Bethleham which three pool could provide over 60 million gallons of water. By the way Ernest Martin is not a reputable archeologist in israel.

Good claims the Romans completely destroyed Fort Antonia, even though Titus used Fort Antonia as his base of operations on the day the temple was destroyed. Did the Romans attack the foundation to make a path to attack the temple? Yes. Did they destroy the whole fort? No. The Wars of the Jews, by Josephus, Book 6, chapter 2 7. In the mean time, the rest of the Roman army had, in seven days’ time, overthrown [some] foundations of the tower of Antonia, and had made a ready and broad way to the temple. Then did the legions come near the first court, (12) and began to raise their banks. The one bank was over against the north-west corner of the inner temple (13) another was at that northern edifice which was between the two gates; and of the other two, one was at the western cloister of the outer court of the temple; the other against its northern cloister. However, these works were thus far advanced by the Romans, not without great pains and difficulty, and particularly by being obliged to bring their materials from the distance of a hundred furlongs. They had further difficulties also upon them; sometimes by their over- great security they were in that they should overcome the Jewish snares laid for them, and by that boldness of the Jews which their despair of escaping had inspired them withal; for some of their horsemen, when they went out to gather wood or hay, let their horses feed without having their bridles on during the time of foraging; upon which horses the Jews sallied out in whole bodies, and seized them. And when this was continually done, and Caesar believed what the truth was, that the horses were stolen more by the negligence of his own men than by the valor of the Jews, he determined to use greater severity to oblige the rest to take care of their horses; so he commanded that one of those soldiers who had lost their horses should be capitally punished; whereby he so terrified the rest, that they preserved their horses for the time to come; for they did not any longer let them go from them to feed by themselves, but, as if they had grown to them, they went always along with them when they wanted necessaries. Thus did the Romans still continue to make war against the temple, and to raise their banks against it. The Wars of the Jews, by Josephus, Book 6, chapter 4 4.

@lw2163168 жыл бұрын
I am open minded on this topic. I've listened to both sides of the issue and this video presents a good overview of the case for the old temple being in the City of David. When I look up scriptures about it they point me to the temple being in Zion - the City of David. Those on the other side say the meaning of the word Zion has changed over the years.... that it used to mean the City of David but that now it means a much larger area including the temple mount. Another argument the other side brings up is they say a thrashing floor would not have been built so close to a spring because it would pollute it. I did not hear those 2 points addressed in this video. I wish they had. I'm leaning toward agreeing with this video, especially since Chuck Missler is of this view.
@timwebb10008 жыл бұрын
The story seems to be that in Solomon's time the Gihon spring had to be pumped up, or redirected, to the Temple precincts; this means that in Jebusite times , their threshing floor would not have been near to the spring to "pollute" it. Makes sense?
@lw2163168 жыл бұрын
David bought the thrashing floor. And the temple was built over where the thrashing floor had been. I think that is the beginning idea. The argument, as I understand it, is that the original thrashing floor would not have been built close to where the spring was because it would have polluted it. The city of David was near the spring or perhaps I should say the spring was within the boundary of the old City of David? So, it does not seem that the pumping of water is relevant to the issue. The issue is where would the original threshing floor have been? Would it have been at the top of the hill or down the hill closer to the spring? And is it reasonable to think the threshing floor would not have been built there because it would have been too close to the spring. I tend to like the idea of the temple having been at the City of David. But the threshing floor polluting the spring question is one I've not heard a good answer for yet.
@timwebb10008 жыл бұрын
Personally, if I, as a Jebusite, were to establish an area for threshing, I would either not build it close to a vital spring; or if I did, I would ensure that the spring was somewhat protected from the chaff. A wooden structure could easily be built over the spring to facilitate this. Not that chaff is toxic, it is merely inconvenient, and it can easily be separated from water if it does get into the water. But given that the spring is described as originally being swiftly-flowing, it is reasonable to assume that anything inadvertently getting into the water would be rapidly flushed away in any case. Also, it is important to understand that for the vast majority of the year, threshing is not being done; so no threat to the water supply exists. The redirecting, or pumping, of Gihon water to the Temple is absolutely relevant. It indicates that the spring was not especially close to the Temple itself; ie the original site of the threshing floor, therefore it had to be brought there artificially; this being the case, it would not have been close to the threshing floor. Presumably this is why the Jebusites found no difficulty in having each of these things somewhat adjacent to each other. Also, the principle of threshing requires that a wind blows over the floor; we need therefore to ask in which direction this wind generally blows. Providing it blows away from the spring, then there is no essential conflict between the two requirements. However, another key question is to establish the precise locations of these two areas; only then can unequivocal answers be generated. However, as I implied at the beginning, there is no reason to imagine that the Jebusites would have been anything other than entirely sensible when dealing with these possible conflicts of interest; and it is inconceivable to imagine that they would have been so stupid as to allow the operation of one vital function to interfere with another equally vital function. Thus this whole attempt to invalidate the newly-proposed location of the Temple on the basis of a supposed conflict of interest between spring and threshing floor smacks more of desperation than simple common sense. It also fails to establish how, had the Temple been located at the top of the ridge of hills, the water from Gihon could have been routed uphill to it; unless by laborious portering, which given the scale of sacrificial offerings being carried out, seems at best unlikely, and at worst, luidicrous..
@lw2163168 жыл бұрын
Thank you for those good comments. Some of those things about the spring I had not considered. If the Israeli leaders came to believe that the temple had been in the City of David what would stop them from starting to build a temple there? As I understand it, they control that area. Do you have any thoughts on the history of the word Zion? Those trying to make a case AGAINST the temple having been at the City of David location, Zion of old, say the word Zion was specific to the City of David in ancient times but over time came to mean a much larger area and Jerusalem itself.
@timwebb10008 жыл бұрын
Apparently Netanyahu has a copy of the book; perhaps he is persuaded by the evidence; but then there is a political dimension to the matter, which he may or may not wish to confront. And being first and foremost a politician, these are the considerations which will be the most important ones for him. Also it seems that a lot of the ultra-orthodox don't want to abandon their lifetime conviction that the Temple was where the DotR is at present. Having said that, I am a big fan of "Brother Nathanael" on YT, and I remember that he was the first one, to my knowledge at least, who mentioned that the Temple was not where it is commonly thought to be; he specifically stated that the so-called Wailing Wall was in actual fact the remnants of the Antonia Tower, ie the old Roman fortress. If these people you mention agree that originally the term "Zion" applied only to a limited area which then expanded, then clearly they, implicitly at least, are arguing for the interpretation which the evidence now seems to support. But all these things will be resolved at the appointed time.

If the present day Temple Mount is only a Roman fortress why did the crusaders dig under it? God placed this verse for you guys. 2 Chronicles 3:1 Then Solomon began to build the house of the LORD at Jerusalem in mount Moriah, where the Lord appeared unto David his father, in the place that David had prepared in the threshingfloor of Ornan the Jebusite. It was on Mount Moriah. Zion has many meanings. Don't get confused. Is Zion a ploughed field? Micah 3:12 Therefore shall Zion for your sake be plowed as a field, and Jerusalem shall become heaps, and the mountain of the house as the high places of the forest. Is Zion a desert? Isaiah 51:3 For the LORD shall comfort Zion: he will comfort all her waste places; and he will make her wilderness like Eden, and her desert like the garden of the LORD; joy and gladness shall be found therein, thanksgiving, and the voice of melody. Is Zion a hill? Psalms 2:6 Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion. Is Zion a strong hold? 2 Samuel 5:7 Nevertheless David took the strong hold of Zion: the same is the city of David. These guys don't understand that many statements in the Bible are figurative and don't give a literal meaning. Also, Gihon spring could never have given water to the Temple. Because until Hezekiah's time it was not protected. I don't think a heavily guarded area will be so unprotected. It's a historic blunder! Jesus telling not one stone will be left upon another was referring to the buildings and not the retaining walls. Read Mark 13:2 And Jesus answering said unto him, Seest thou these great buildings? there shall not be left one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down. Matthew 24:1 And Jesus went out, and departed from the temple: and his disciples came to him for to shew him the buildings of the temple. So, understand that the Temple was never in the city of David.

There are four primary texts in scripture that cannot be reconciled if what has been traditionally called the temple mount is in fact the correct location of the temples. While only one of those is a text a Jewish reader might consider authoritative all must constrain the thoughts of every Christian and if not, if the scripture is not the authority, then the location of the temple is the least of that readers worries. The most common and often disregarded text is Mathew 24 And Jesus went out, and departed from the temple: and his disciples came to him for to shew him the buildings of the temple. And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down. This is often twisted to suggest that while the disciples were speaking of the temple and Yeshua was addressing specifically that and only that the remaining stones are part of a foundation and as such should not be considered….. Luke 19 And when he was come near, he beheld the city, and wept over it, Saying, If thou hadst known, even thou, at least in this thy day, the things which belong unto thy peace! but now they are hid from thine eyes. For the days shall come upon thee, that thine enemies shall cast a trench about thee, and compass thee round, and keep thee in on every side, And shall lay thee even with the ground, and thy children within thee; and they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another; because thou knewest not the time of thy visitation. Here I think the reader is left without any question of ambiguity….Yeshua is concerned not with temple building or foundation but every stone that makes up Jerusalem every stone…..What He is not speaking to is the Fort of the Romans, as it is not part of Jerusalem. It makes sense that after the siege described here by our lord the only structure left would be Antonio. If any person can make an honest argument to the contrary I would like them to reply with it. But if not then accept the fact that what has by tradition been accepted as the temple mount is not. Acts And all the city was moved, and the people ran together: and they took Paul, and drew him out of the temple: and forthwith the doors were shut. And as they went about to kill him, tidings came unto the chief captain of the band, that all Jerusalem was in an uproar. Who immediately took soldiers and centurions, and ran down unto them: and when they saw the chief captain and the soldiers, they left beating of Paul. In the above passage we see the Roman guard was called out to quell a riot involving Paul no surprise really he was involved lol. We also see they ran down meaning they came from a greater elevation… They were coming from the fort to the temple and ran down…..the platform I would identify as the fort and which is called traditionally the temple mount is the highest elevation one can be at in Jerusalem. If it is the location of the temple where that is the fort? I am certain it wasn’t a floating fort. Micah Therefore because of you Zion shall be plowed like a field, Jerusalem shall become heaps of ruins, And the mountain of the temple Like the bare hills of the forest. Lastly we look at the one text even the Jews should not be willing to ignore and the question has to be asked does the Haram al-Sharif resemble a plowed field? This one text though is loaded….it speaks of Zion/Jerusalem/and the mountain of the temple all as a single field… If you are Christian I don’t see how you can argue that structure is or had anything to do with the temple, without being willing to toss out the scripture and if so I am certain you are not a Christian.

The game changer is finding king David's bones.Then the descendent that the Jews are waiting for can be varified.

Love listening to these guys and respect them very much. Using discernment, I have to point out something that is troubling. First, they say they read all these comments and want interaction. Second, they rightly recognize that many areas of Christianity are based on tradition and this should be faced head on. Yet, they themselves refuse to deal with the traditions they present as fact in their own videos when contradictory factual evidence is presented to them. Crickets. I can understand that Chuck has presented these traditions since at least the early 90's when I first began to hear him on the radio and it would be difficult to admit his error. However, it is disingenious to not act in the way that they criticize others in a good portion of this very video.

If Jesus Himself was rejected by the Jews as their true Messiah because He didn't fit their traditions, is it any wonder that they would reject the location of the earthly Temple because of their traditions???
