congratulations on that find. some people over here found a bunch of buttons that matched what would have been on a civil war soldiers coat. i told them he was probably wounded and his coat was removed and left on the battlefield, were it disintegrated and left the buttons. that could be why you found 2 of those badges. watch for that in the future and good fortune to you.

I really love your videos you get to do something that I only get to dream about doing. I feel it's so important to not forget ww2 and ww1 to not forgot what hate and evil can do and cause. So many innocent people for all country's died trying to stop a very evil man and I am a firm believer not all Germans were bad they had orders to follow just like the US Military or the royal Military, Russia, Australia, Polands army. Matter of fact a lot of German people were murdered for speaking out against Hitler. A very good example is Helmuth Günther Guddat Hübener (8 January 1925 - 27 October 1942), (fun fact my birth day is October 25, 1990 I was born a few days before the anniversary of his murder was the youngest opponent of the Third Reich to be sentenced to death by the SpecialPeople's Court (Volksgerichtshof) and executed.[1] His story Is very sad. Just like with the American military and other military forces soldiers were shot or threatened to be shot if they didnt fight or if they tried to run in the other direction. I would love for you to sit down and do a interview type video with the families who lived through the war the so many innocent civilians. Much love and respect Ida from the U.S.A

Great video and great finds. Thanks for taking the time to educate viewers like myself that don't understand the importance, and meaning of each of your finds. Any ideas as to how these things fell off of the uniforms? As an American, inhave always found it fascinating how German soldiers wore their medals on into battle. Thanks again! Gary
@IronMikeMetaldetecting4 жыл бұрын
Hi Gary, indeed a bit of a mystery, but perhaps the uniform got discarded or left behind somehow and the badges fell off over time. Indeed a puzzling thing but somehow they fell off the uniforms. Back in the days those woods must have been littered with all sort of items and uniforms that were left behind.
@garybrown57344 жыл бұрын
Wow! A personal reply from the man himself! Thanks for taking the time to respond to me Mike. I agree that it is a mystery how they fell off. I think most people create their own personal stories about how things get left behind. I am sure you are right, that area was probably littered with remnants of all types from the battles that happened in the past. It is hard to believe that an area so quiet now was once filled with south carnage. Thanks again Mike.
@IronMikeMetaldetecting4 жыл бұрын
Hi Gary, I always try to respond to each comment, but sometimes the video's are viewed so many times it's hard to reply to them all. How the finds ended up there will always remain a mystery. Back then German soldiers discarded of their badges and such to avoid being shot by the Russians that were moving in fast. But also soldiers that fell during the battle must have lost items like these. That is the sad thing to finding these relics, there is some sort of personal tragedy behind the finds. Which I am well aware off, have been coming there for many years talking to people who 's parents witnessed the horror or even saw it with their own eyes. Luckily these woods now are quiet and peaceful, except for the occasional loud 'oooohh' by me.. ;)
@garybrown57344 жыл бұрын
Thanks for all the information. It is heartening to hear that you talk to people that witnessed the war. First hand stories are important to hear and to see as they are told. There can be nothing more sad than dying for your country close to home, or in a far off forgotten field, and having your body be left behind and forgotten. I used to follow some of the other relic hunters on Facebook, but I found that many of them, particularly those in the Eastern Front area, dig up the graves of soldiers, strip the skeletons of anything that can be sold, and then toss the bones aside. War is a horrible trate that we humans seem to enjoy to much. Every warrior was someone's son, someone's brother and part of a family. Other than those of the SS, those that fought valiantly in defense of their country deserve a decent burial. Take care of yourself Mike. I am looking forward to your next great find! Oooooohhh!😉😀
