SEARS 1350 WATT Alternator / Generator walk around and start

This video is about my Sears Generator or Alternator that I bought, I show it running and operating under a load and also a few facts about this machine. This is a great little generator to have on standby in case of a power outage or for powering the fish house or small hunting cabin. This generator also works perfectly for camping due to its small size, easy to carry design, and easy to maintain unlike newer Honda and Yamaha generators in the same size range.

Nice litte generator, I've got 2 of the Sears 1100W generators same era and design as yours (one red, one green, see my videos). They run really well with minimal maintenance. Just ran a full load test on one of them the other day, in prep for storm season. Mine are for daytime charging of the house bank batteries I use with a 2KW inverter for emergency/comfort backup power. I've had inverter/generators, and I like the sound of these old engines better. Plus, the inverters in the inverter/generators tend to overload and shut off easily when nearing load limits, but these older generators just keep delivery power, allowing more motor start capacity like on a fridge or deep freeze compressor.

Definitely. This little generator is a tank. Other than the small fuel tank it really is an ideal generator. It works great for charging batteries with the 12volt connection point. I have another generator for appliances that will run for about 8hrs on 4gallons. This sears is much more efficient though in my experience. I would like to get a quieter honda inverter generator for camping. When boondocking the inverter generator can charge up the batteries and other devices with better power. The camper doesn't draw enough to need larger than 2,000 watts.

barry hunt I've had it for a year now, it's great to have around! I used it for camping a couple times and for powering tools when too far from electricity. I would love one of those newer Honda 2,000 inverter gens with smart throttle. But I paid a lot less for this one and also this one is much easier to work on!

Find the markings on the carburetor, I can probably figure it out from there.

Hello Bill, My Sears 1350 watt generator is identical to yours. It runs well and I power small items with it fine. What size spark plug does it take? The one in mine is a Survivor 443. I can't find one of those on line so I was wondering which model would work from a modern manufacturer.

I have a Champion J8C in mine, a very common plug used by small engine manufacturers in the 60's and 70's.

@@compherut I did adjust the governor, not too hard to do if you have a meter that reads volts and frequency. Under half load you should be between 116-124volts and be at 60Hz.

Do you use Facebook? I have a Facebook page where you could message me pictures. There is not a registry of the generators for me to look up information on different models. However based on pictures I can come close.
