Another great video Dean! Many times through the years I've used those nuts with the star type locking washer. While they work, I hate the way they dig in the mating surface. For quite a few years now I've steered away from mechanical lock washers substituting them with the appropriate LocTite thread locker. This type of thread locker not only keeps the nut from loosening but also seal the threads keeping out corrosion and rust. My tip for the day!

Several years ago, I did the same upgrade on my 1989 Mastercut edger, with this Tec H30 engine and that diaphragm carb. What an improvement! Mine needs the choke to start most of the time, but that's OK. I have had a full range of engine speed, so I have probably never messed with the adjustment screw on the throttle control lever. I appreciated your closer look into how this affects things. Overall, it's nice when a modestly-priced upgrade like this improves the machine so much.

I watched your other video and I think the reason it leaked is because you didn't put in a new needle seat and fuel was leaking by the needle all the time. If you watch the video you can see that the needle was metal to metal and had no way of stopping the fuel from entering the carb.

Probably so. Still I’ve never been sorry I replaced it as this one has performed flawlessly and so much easier to crank than the diaphragm style. Dean
