Well that is what happens when you earn qualification through work put into education. It is the same reason an army grunt is paid less than a general qualification and capability. *Although isn't as simple as that BUT still education is the key*. _I suggest everyone to engrave this into their minds education is of the utmost importance._ This is the very simple reason Indians/Chinese and others prioritize education money can be stolen from you but no one can steal your qualifications and knowledge. P.S. Not hating on this amazing person in the video just stating one of modern worlds truths.

Nice guy, reliable. Correct - whatever you put into your mind cannot be taken away from you. It is important to continue to learn your whole life, whether through formal education, learning new skills by doing or looking on the internet. One of the easiest skills to obtain is rarely used - that is to listen.

A CEO does much more and important work than does a retailer worker moron. The man stayed with the company that long because he was happy with his situation. Customers stopped shopping at Sears because online shopping is cheaper. Sears never adopted to the changing times and lost their customers due to high prices. That is how an economy works. 99.9999% of businesses have failed throughout history. I agree that the last couple CEOs that Sears had were morons, but that doesn't change the fact that a retailer work is only worth the wage paid to him or he would go work for the competition for higher wages. The failed CEO of Sears won't be getting any benefit package if the company goes out of business.
@andreo
@andreo 7 жыл бұрын
Not sure why you feel the need for the name calling. But, a CEO carries greater responsibilities but it's the retail worker that sets the atmosphere and experience that is happening in the stores. It doesn't matter what store I go to. I'm not being serviced by the CEO. I'm working with the retail employee. And that experience will determine if I want to buy that day and continue to frequent the store. Most consumers could not tell you the name of the CEO (or anyone in executive management) of a store / company. The CEO is plotting the direction of the business. Everyone else under him is making it work. If it wasn't for the people under him there wouldn't be a business. And before you accuse me of saying that floor workers should make the same as a CEO. That's not the reason for my post. It's simply to point out that every job there is important. And it's apparent that this man made a mark on a lot of people. Tell me, how many people that you'v met working in a store would you go back to wish them well after hearing that the store closed? It's people like Tyrone that bring customers back. But even people like Tyrone can't undo some of the stupid mistakes made that some of precious CEO's have made.

It isn't online shopping that's killing bricks & mortar stores, it the fact that wages for middle income workers have been stagnant since the 80's. The middle class has less expendable income so they're shopping at Walmart and the dollar store instead of going to the mall.
@jakeel85

Danny Carrington That's true but wages are stagnant precisely because of govt mandated minimum wage hikes, higher taxes, and also normal market competition.

It's not like that at all. It is online business that is killing it how many people do you see living above their means? They got money. The lines at toys r us were flooded when everything was 10 percent off and it was still more expensive than other stores.

RetroGuy76 yep totally agree. I am a well-educated middle-class American considered to be a foundation at my job for the last 14 years, and I've had significant pay increases under private ownership until they sold the company. Now Corporate America doesn't provide more than the 2% cost of living. Every time I ask for a decent pay raise I was declined due to budget, except this year. The raise I was given if you average it over 14 years is insignificant at best. So making decisions to purchase have to be smart ones and unfortunately frugal without sacrificing for quality. You find yourself shopping online because there's less overhead and when you finally want to buy something you need or maybe want to spoil yourself, you go with the best prices. I would rather Shop Brick and Mortar so you can see touch it feel it and have a easy location to return or exchange merchandise but most of the time, stock availability is significantly lower in brick and mortar stores to keep their overhead low and stay somewhat competitive even though the prices are higher. Bottom line if wages weren't stagnant, businesses weren't into making the money for themselves, shareholders and investors and not screwing over the employee, and rewarding you with the sentiment of you're lucky you have a job type attitude, we'd be spending more money locally and not online.

Nobody cares, its all about how much money the corporate people can pocket and walk away with. Who cares about the people that actually brought that money in...AKA the people that actually worked at the stores...sure as hell had nothing to do with the over-paid underworked morons at corporate. You could remove corporate from big businesses and they'd run just fine, they'd be a hell of a lot more profitable too since you wouldn't have corporate hands dipping into the income every few seconds to line their wallets.

Did anybody explain to Leroy that it isn't online sales that lead to the decline of Sears? Sears didn't invest any money in their stores, took their focus off of customers, and diversified too many assets and they never corrected any issues when the company started to not make any profits. When your company hasn't turned a profit since 2010, that's not because of "online competition", ask Eddie Lampert why the company hasn't seen a profit in 7 years? Why can't a multi billion dollar company that was a retail giant of its time can't even make one dollar anymore? I admire his passion and his dedication, but he's wrong on that being the sole reason. Sears has been horribly mismanaged and it shows, and all Eddie Lampert cared about was profit margins and couldn't be bothered to put any money into investing in new ideas or even renovating any of the stores. Not to mention that merging with Kmart was an absolutely awful, frankly business ruining idea that I think helped contribute to the fall of Sears. Kmart was never reinvented either, none of the money was put into renovating the stores or investing in any new ideas. They just stuck with this tired out business model that doesn't work anymore for the times we are in now. These department stores may have been juggernauts in the 80's and 90's and prior but times have changed, people just don't want these stores especially if the focus is off of customers.

Sad, I bought my first Barbie doll in Sears in 1990 when I was 3 years old. I also remember all the studio pics I took at their photo studio when I was a little girl. I worked for that store for four years. For the ladies department of all places. never really talked to Leroy that much but I knew he'd been there for a long time. the problem with the store is the bad management. take it from someone who was there for a long time all they care about is their numbers they don't give two shitts about the customers. I figured it was only a matter of time before store 1295 shut down. I'm a firm believer that their CEO Eddie Lambert is ruining the face of retail. although I met some great people at that store over all the job was horrible.

The warranty says that it is guaranteed for 5 years from date of purchase, the parts of the sealed refrigerant system consisting of refrigerant, connecting tubing and the compressor will be covered, free of charge if defective in material or workmanship. I also have the book with warranty in it and have the original box it came in and the receipt that we paid for it.

There are two problems at work. Yes, we are shifting to an on-line retail environment. Which I think is a shame, because there is real value in talking with someone knowledgeable about your purchases. I always get a kick about people bitching about something they bought that is not right, because they didn't talk to someone knowledgeable, but they don't want to pay the little extra that a brick and mortar place provides. I have watched people waste the time of sales associates getting a free education on the product, and then while in the store, buying the item online at Amazon. I worked retail at the beginning of my career, and Mr. John Q Public off the street can often be a dick. Everyone wants everything cheap, and expect free service too. That is why we have stinky places like Walmart folks. You asked for it, you got it. The other problem is Sears itself. I worked at the corporate level years back. Even then, there were idiots. At the Corporate Office, which back then was in the famous Sears building in Chicago, you had to wear a suit jacket all the time, even if you were visiting. The ONLY time you could take your jacket off was when you sat at a desk, as soon as you got up from your desk to say, go to the water cooler, you had to put your jacket on. I was only a visitor there, I worked in California, but you were told you could get written up for not wearing your jacket! I was told by my manager, who traveled a lot, to find a 2000 square foot office for our team as we started the division. I found all sorts of property for a good price, but word came down on high that we had to find a "Sears Property" to rent, even though our division had nothing to do with Sears Retail stores. So I found a place, the whole upstairs of a Sears mall store, which used to have a Sears Dentist operation (yes, that did exist) and their furniture store, which had gone away as well. One day the store manager, who was always a dick even though we were now giving him thousands of dollars a month for space that had not been used for years, comes up to me in the parking lot. I, and the rest of my team, were supposed to park our cars behind a special "yellow line" in the parking lot, way the heck out there, as I was a "mall employee" and everything else was for the customers. I told him I was never told about the line, that I am not a "mall employee", and further, I had young ladies working for me that worked late sometimes, and I am not having them walk way out in the dark with no security. Was not going to happen. He bitched and moaned and threatened my job. These two small stories were just a few of many that described how backwards that company was even years ago. I am surprised it last that long. I have thousands of dollars of Craftsman tools, and Kenmore appliances which have been dependable as heck. So it is really sad.

Sears use to be great, they sold everything, even prefab homes (catalog order). Where one door closes another door opens.

Leroy should start his Sears pension NOW ! Read Sears pension fund is $1.6 billion underfunded. He will receive more in monthly payments if he is already retired when the PBGP (pension benefit guaranty program) steps in, which they will do, he’ll get a better monthly payment if he’s already retired. Wait till Leroy finds out Republicans are going to screw him out of his social security to pay for bloated military, wealthy tax cuts, and over-priced healthcare ..... that will be the final shock that puts old Leroy in his grave.

Leroy worked during the glory days of Sears and the time that Sears had a good pension plan. He will likely walk away with enough money to live comfortably for the rest of his life. That is if Eddie Lampert didn't steal his money.

It's a miracle this man was there that long. When I left in 2010, they were pushing people out left and right, esp the longest serving workers. I just hope Lampert didn't cheat him out of his pension. That was going on too.
