I bought mine in 2002 and still have it. only thing needed done to it in the past was a new battery, fresh oil and changed the blades from time to time. This year this is the first year I've really had to do anything to it. Put tubes in the front tires cause they quit holding air, new belts, change out a couple of pulleys, new fuel lines and tank grommet. two of the blades on the deck has seized up.

The older one's with the Kohler Magnum opposed twin were even better...

I know what you mean about cheaper engines especially with the Courage. My neighbor however must just of a taken great care of theirs. Thier 2009 Craftsman has a 26HP Vtwin Courage and its pushing probably 550 hours of use and running fine. They have a new one as well as I do also that has that 7000 elite series Kohler in it but, I have been told its merly a resdesigned courage engine. Its smooth for the most part but, not so smooth on starting sometimes. Its a little stubborn I think compared to older Kohlers such as in this video which I have to agree with you are by far the best Kohlers out there.

+427 Elevating Productions the older kohler engines are light years better than the crap courage series out there, i tell people all the time you gotta have a lot of courage to buy that engine due to its problems and overall crap quality.

My neighbors parked it and it would need work but the same neighbors I made mention of above at one time their only mower was a Husqvarna 18 HP Vtwin Kohler Command which is pretty much the same I believe as this Kohler pro in your video. It hasn't been started in a few years and Im sure would need work to get it going but, with some work I am sure it would start. I have heard good and bad with the vtwin courages some people I have heard reporting over 800 hours with no problems others less than 500 hours with major problems. The single cylinder OHV courage is the worst in my opinion over the vtwin courage. The single is what the blocks from what I have heard crack on around 500 hours of use. Im sorry but, if you maintain your engine and mower properly in my opinion your Block should never crack around 500 hours of use.

I have this mower. I love it (mostly). I pull a plow, disc, cultivator, etc. But as far a mowing.... I'm having problems. I have a 42" deck. The spindle on the left is squeaking bad! I habe no idea which one to buy to replace it. if you have anymore videos about working on this mower, please show me!

I have virtually the same tractor. (Is the same, just a 20hp Kohler Command. Same controls and transmission/transaxle) Got a few videos on my channel. Basically, you have the pedal on the left which is your clutch AND is your brake when pressed down. Between your legs is the main shifting lever, which is in a sideways H pattern. Hopefully your labels are still there to show you which gear is which, because I can't remember off the top of my head to draw them out for you. On the side by your right leg is the High-Neutral-Low selector. Just start it up, push the clutch/brake, select High or Low range, and then you have 1st, 2nd, or 3rd (or reverse) between your legs to choose from. (It is NOT an 8 speed as the video creator mentioned.) Choose a gear and let out the clutch. You're off! In Low range, you have 3 speeds to choose from on the stick in the middle. In High range, you have basically another 3 from the same stick. Speed-wise, Low range 3rd is just slightly faster than High-range 1st. Be mindful that these particular Roper/AYP transaxles ARE NOT meant to be shifted while moving. Come to a stop before changing gears/speeds/ranges. (They are not synchro'd). Then you can take off again in the higher or lower gear.

Any ideas where the starter solenoid is on these tractors ?I can't find it under the dash or anywhere near the hood

None. It uses a relay located on passenger side panel below battery tray and a safety switch on frame below driver side panel under battery tray...to bypass that switch...disconnect wiring from switch and connect the two white wires....will start without depressing clutch.

Why can't I find a ground drive belt diagram for the same thing but hydrostatic transmission

Inline in wiring harness, basically swinging in the breeze to rear and below battery.
