I thought you were going to show me how to start doggone thing! I've never run my lawn mower before I've always hired somebody to mow and it's been sitting all winter and I don't know how to start it.

On that "shifter"..... it is simply a sheet, or plate that will split in time if one goes fwd and reverse too quickly. I made my son cut my grass, and he didn't want to waste time, and that split happened to me. I have a GT5000 that I bought in 2005 that is still running and looks great, but the wheel mounts broke off at the weld, so now I only use the front snow plow for various reasons. As for the damage my son did, I called Sears repair and had them fix it for the price. Recently got me a John Deere D130, but still love my Craftsman!

I have a 18.5 twin 46" cut Craftsman.. I only change the oil.. have done many sets of blades.. replaced the bearings for the blades.. cleaned the carb out once.. air filters.. never put plugs in it or a fuel filter or pump.. or trans service.. lol it's old 1994 or something lol

Is this the successor to the Lt1000?

Well it is a GT series. Once you go to the GT series you're talking heavy duty garden tractors rated for ground engaging implements. I'm surprised the trans is still working since its a hydro. Even back then servicing hydros on consumer mowers was a PITA so they never get serviced. The rest doesn't surprise me much at all. I have a 2006 YS 4500, the newer incarnation of the LT1000 Platform. I mow 20+ yards full of St Augustine grass every week, it's racked up 1500+ hours on the original 20 hp one lunger, doesn't burn oil and starts up every time. I did wear out the deck bearings and destroy a few idlers by then but Id say that's not too bad for what I use it for. Its been half torn apart all season waiting on a deck rebuild, It rotted out in a few spots because I was leaving grass stuck in there.

I lost the tie rod on mine also. Same thing as yours. Cost $125 for a replacement. NOT cheap.

Cut the ends off, drill, tap, and replace with a rod end from ebay. $10. I did both ends of mine.

Why would your dad not ever change oil in his tractor lol
@bah539 жыл бұрын
+James Eggerth I don't know. He pretty much doesn't change oil in anything, so if I don't do the oil change on stuff it usually doesn't get done.

How long do you have it?
@bah539 жыл бұрын
+Mega2012ification I'm not exactly sure when he got it but it was probably over a dozen years ago.
